    Let's speculate then. If Niall and the Pies are close, it might work for them to put pressure on Elliott to sign for below market value if they put it out there early, that we're chasing him.

    I think the next two weeks will determine whereĀ Elliott plays his footy next year.Ā 

    If he has a reasonableĀ finals games against GWS and Potentially Richmond, he can name his price on the contract.

    I think he'll be serching for a 3-4 year dealĀ at around 600k-700k a season, no way Collingwood can make room for him, unless he accepts unders on a reduced term of 2 years.

    I would offer him 3 year deal on 600k with a trigger for a 4th depending on appearances.Ā

    He's not leaving Collingwood. We've done our due diligence in offering a contract to an OTC small forward. In turn we'll likely lose Frost. Hope we know what we're doing.

    JamieĀ has stated that hisĀ plan A in life has been to be an AFL footballer. No plan B. Offering aĀ significant improvementĀ on his future financial security could be very very tempting.

    Below quotes from Elliottā€™s interview with 3AW. Considering Collingwood areĀ still in the running, sounds fair enough to me.Ā 

    ā€œIā€™ve always said that Iā€™m going to wait until the end of the year to negotiate anything,ā€ Elliott told Sportsday.

    ā€œI felt like I needed to get back and play some good footy, missing a whole year last year.ā€

    Asked if he was chasing a long-term deal (which heā€™s been linked with at other Melbourne-based clubs), Elliott said that would be ā€œgreatā€.

    ā€œBut Iā€™ve got this week to focus on and potentially a week after that,ā€ he said.

    ā€œAll my focus is on this week.ā€

    I understand that Elliot is not one that we are intent 100% upon getting. We have had discussions, outlined an offer and made sure the door is open for further talks after his season wraps up. He understands the interest is there for a potential deal.

    I think that was always going to be the case TK.Ā  His Manager (and his good self) would be mad not to wait.Ā  Each appearance in a finalĀ effectively ups his value somewhat, assuming he doesn't incur a significant injury or put in a horror.
