Apparently linked to the dogs, but could be a handy foil for McDonald next season.

Josh Bruce?

Jeezus, this might just be a crazy trading period with heaps of moves.

Play our cards right and we could do very well. If we can, that is.

Do we really need him?

When I say this, consider that we have Tom Mac and we've had good success with Fritta over the last 5-6 games up forward as well.  Weideman is the question mark as the other tall, but when you also add Melksham in there and hopefully at least a Hannan (who can get back to his 2018 form by getting himself fit!) I'm not too sure there is a place for him.

I think a quality small forward should be the focus for us this off season.  Where we get that player from is the issue.

Bundle Brandon Matera up with Ed Langdon would be nice.

I'd love Tom Papley to be honest, but I don't think we'll entice him to join us, nor could we satisfy the Swans in a trade.

I agree, i think Papley has plenty of interest in him, i think that'll drive his price above what we could realistically pay. even Lewis Taylor could add some speed to the forward line for a good price

I just want to recruit him for nostalgic reasons. The world's first recognised rock music supergroup was Cream with Ginger Baker, Jack Bruce and Eric Clapton. I'm prepared to compromise and have Baker, Bruce and Petty.  (The club can be the Heartbreakers.)

Of course, I can understand that we should probably pick our recruits on their footballing roles, shouldn't we?

Isn't it compulsory to include the word "allegedly" somewhere in that sentence?

Only if I identify the coach, who went on to sell frozen water.

Or put Petty ( Harrison ) out front and call them the Beatles.

I’d be targeting two small fwds Wise, when Liam Ryan and Willie Rioli are on it’s a pleasure to watch. Pace, skilful, kick goals and both can take a decent mark. Then there’s the tackling. Also if drafting as opposed to trading for them I go after three using all our late picks/rookie draft. We have to allow they all won’t make it.

No argument from me, BA.  I think we it's a glaring weakness in our side at the moment.  How we fix it, and fix it well, is anybodies guess right now.  We might have to get a little creative and look to the state leagues to help us fill the gaps.

That's all fine but keep in mind we just did that, C Wagner, T Bedford and K Chandler. Corey is a stop gap and is ok depth and the other 2 are still too young to tell. But I think we need a higher end small forward selection, someone with elite talent. I'm not sure who that is or if anyone will even be available for us in this draft.

THE ACCIDENTAL DEMONS by The Oracle

In the space of eight days, the Melbourne Football Club’s plans for the coming year were turned upside down by two season-ending injuries to players who were contending strongly for places in its opening round match against the GWS Giants. Shane McAdam was first player to go down with injury when he ruptured an Achilles tendon at Friday afternoon training, a week before the cut-off date for the AFL’s pre-season supplemental selection period (“SSP”). McAdam was beginning to get some real mom

RETURN TO NORMAL by Whispering Jack

One of my prized possessions is a framed, autographed guernsey bearing the number 31 worn by my childhood hero, Melbourne’s champion six time premiership player Ronald Dale Barassi who passed away on 16 September 2023, aged 87. The former captain who went on to a successful coaching career, mainly with other clubs, came back to the fold in his later years as a staunch Demon supporter who often sat across the way from me in the Northern Stand of the MCG cheering on the team. Barassi died the
