I’ve gone:

Collingwood

St Kilda

North

Geelong

GWS

Eagles

Bulldogs

Richmond

Port

Bar horrible umpiring, I think Richmond v Brisbane and West Coast v Hawthorn will be crackers.

I think the AFL has done a good job in giving Brisbane 2 matches this week considering their non-existent injury list.

They have a 15 hour break between games and a short flight to the west. They better not whine.

I think the top 4 will be interesting. I expect Brissy will get done by Richmond and West coast will beat Hawthorn. This is where % will play a part. between w/c and brissy. I hope Brissy get a home final but may have to play the eagles over there.

This round is big in the South Australian context.

Could see the demise of one if not two coaches.

I reckon Hinkley has more to worry about. We’ll know by the end of Port’s game whether or not the players want him gone or not.

On another note, from a reliable source I was told that at the start of the season, the Fremantle players were all told not to expect to play finals this season. Odd.

Essendrug blatant Tanking before the bye.

Filth v drug cheats. Not watching/listening, nor checking the scores.

Who do I want to win? It would be like choosing between typhoid and cholera.

Dropping like flies at the G and what in the world was Varcoe thinking there? He was 5 metres out.

yep very strange

Was a nice high scoring game for a while and now...nothing

Much as I hate to say it, Drugsters being screwed by maggots.

How was that a 50 to Moore when he actively tried not to take the returned ball?

Clearly we need to either get bigger louder crowds, or buy an amplifier to shout “baaaallllllll” whenever we lay a tackle even if it is disposed.

It was paid  for abuse

Geez we are going well in the cricket.

English are 6/49.

Go Aussies.

It's like neither team is trying to win this. Constant misses this quarter.

Football sucks, I can’t believe both these teams are going to be playing finals.

If these sides are playing finals   well we don't need to improve that much.   Well I know we do need to improve but both these sides are terrible, just shows how lowly we played    Not looking forward to tmorra

This side is in the top 4 right now. Putrid stuff. Is that the quality of the competition right now?

Have we dragged the others down?

That's a good question.

Two weeks ago a decimated Melbourne side played Collingwood at the same venue and lost by 17 points while, last night, an equally decimated Essendon lost by 11 points last night.

The Demons had 18 shots at goal to the Pies 20. Last night it was the Bombers 15 to 26 and yet they are in the finals, the Pies can still make top 4 and we're way out of it. The other teams have had their share of injuries of late but they haven't been blighted by them the way we have.

In a way, it sums up the season for us.

If only essenscum had lost last week or to nth or Sydney.  They would have missed finals probably.  Hopefully they go out week1.

Hopefully Richmond and west coast win and knock the pies out of the top 4

Ryan and Rioli, both so exciting to watch, both electric and skilful. We don’t need one small crumbing forward, we need two.

  • PREGAME: Rd 17 vs Adelaide

With their season all over bar the shouting the Demons head back on the road for the third week in a row as they return to Adelaide to take on the Crows. Who comes in and who goes out?

  • POSTGAME: Rd 16 vs Gold Coast

The Demons did not come to play from the opening bounce and let the Gold Coast kick the first 5 goals of the match. They then outscored the Suns for the next 3 quarters but it was too little too late and their season is now effectively over.

It's Game Day and the Demons are back on the road again and this may be the last roll of the dice to get their 2025 season back on track as they take on the Gold Coast Suns at People First Stadium.

  • PREVIEW: Gold Coast

The Gold Coast Suns find themselves outside of the top eight for the first time since Round 1 with pressure is mounting on the entire organisation. Their coach Damien Hardwick expressed his frustration at his team’s condition last week by making a middle-finger gesture on television that earned him a fine for his troubles. He showed his desperation by claiming that Fox should pick up the tab.  There’s little doubt the Suns have shown improvement in 2025, and their position on the ladder is influenced to some extent by having played fewer games than their rivals for a playoff role at the end of the season, courtesy of the disruption caused by Cyclone Alfred in March.  However, they are following the same trajectory that hindered the club in past years whenever they appeared to be nearing their potential. As a consequence, that Hardwick gesture should be considered as more than a mere behavioral lapse. It’s a distress signal that does not bode well for the Queenslanders. While the Suns are eager to remain in contention with the top eight, Melbourne faces its own crisis, which is similarly deep-seated but in a much different way. After recovering from a disappointing start to the season and nearing a return to respectability among its peer clubs, the Demons have experienced a decline in status, driven by the fact that while their form has been reasonable (see their performance against the ladder leader in the Kings Birthday match), their conversion in front of goal is poor enough to rank last in the competition. Furthermore, their opponents find them exceptionally easy to score against. As a result, they have effectively eliminated themselves from the finals race and are again positioned to finish in the bottom half of the ladder.
