Won the GF sprint, just edging Frosty.

Only saw the heat but Frost looked stuffed, Ben King looked like he hadn't broken out of stride. Was a lock for the gf sprint victory after seeing that.

Steven May traded in pick for Hoges was Ben King, number 6 in last years draft  + KK who got a 3 yr deal and will most likely be a bust due to ongoing concussion issues....

Dees need to nail their picks.  Not just try to poach players.

Totally agree... I think we have been poor as a club trading top end picks. We don’t seem to get that right.

However, Pick 3 needs to be on the table to get Ben King this season. I would be prepared to move on one or two players as well and free some salary cap.

Ben King will be the best KPF for the next 10 years!

His brother might give it a nudge.

I think Ben will be the better of the two... Just my opinion.

However, both will be great players over the next 10-15 seasons! I think playing at different clubs is best for there careers.

It all depends on what happens, re- priority picks with GC this year.

If they get given pick 2, then i'd be all for going after Ben King with pick #3. If we end up with pick 2, then i'd go after Anderson and try and figure out how to bring in 2 Meter Peter with our future first rounder next year and possibly our 2nd rounder this year.

Either way, we need to bring in a quality KPF as well as a quality mid in the next 2 years. Both King & Wright are over 200cms, so could provide a ruck chop out in future, whilst playing the majority of time in the FWD line.

As for quality mids, bring in any that we can get our hands on. I think we are well set for smalls and KPD's. Mids, KPF and good small forwards are first on our list of needs.

Really DD !!

Well off for smalls  ?? You must be the only Dees supporter of over 1/4 of a million that says we are well off for smalls.

Glad they haven't got you in the room at the draft and FD meetings!

This thread is a waste of time and space and is fantasy driven.

Nowhere is there any shred of evidence that the King from GC will be up at the Dees

its just fanciful snd a waste of space.

Elliot is a sure thing in comparison to this drivel

Here we go the bloke wins a GF sprint and he becomes a superstar!

Give me a spell

Really? Has anyone remotely mentioned the word "superstar" next to Ben Kings name?

A quick small (like Elliott) -- King -- Hannan

Fristch -- McDonald -- Melksham

That is a much more potent forwardline, particularly with Petracca, Vandenberg and Harmes rotating in and out.

Even if we by some chance get Elliott, I'd be recruiting another two zippy smalls. To be honest, they usually come out of WA or even SA/NT.

It also relegates Weideman to third fiddle, but I could see us playing three talls against certain opponents.

And for those implying King's recruitment is linked to the GF sprint, take a look at this thread - most of it prior to the Grand Final sprint. Ridiculous.

No. His manager said he wasn't seeking a trade. There's a difference.

  • REPORT: Western Bulldogs

The next coach of the Melbourne Football Club faces the challenge of teaching his players how to win games against all comers. At times during this tumultuous season, that task has seemed daunting, made more so in light of the surprise news last week of the sacking of premiership coach Simon Goodwin. However, there were also some positive signs from yesterday’s match against the Western Bulldogs that the challenge may not be as difficult as one might think. The two sides presented a genuine football spectacle, featuring pulsating competitive play with eight lead changes throughout the afternoon, in a display befitting a finals match. The result could have gone either way and in the end, it came down to which team could produce the most desperate of acts to provide a winning result. It was the Bulldogs who had their season on the line that won out by a six point margin that fitted the game and the effort of both sides.

  • CASEY: Brisbane

The rain had been falling heavily in south east Queensland when the match began at Springfield, west of Brisbane. The teams exchanged early goals and then the Casey Demons proceeded like a house on fire in the penultimate game of the VFL season against a strong opponent in the Brisbane Lions. Sparked by strong play around the ground by seasoned players in Charlie Spargo and Jack Billings, a strong effort from Bailey Laurie and promising work from youngsters in Kynan Brown and  Koltyn Tholstrup, the Demons with multiple goal kickers firing, raced to a 27 point lead late in the opening stanza. A highlight was a wonderful goal from Laurie who brilliantly sidestepped two opponents and kicked beautifully from 45 metres out.
