Get a grip!

It makes you wonder what some people actually see at a game Mr Shadow. I thought he was one of our better players.

Hannan showed some of his old form today

12 disposals, 10 uncontested, 65% efficiency, 0 goals.......

Really? I've never played the game but I think most coaches would expect greater output than that.....

His output was better - he's been bog ordinary for 3 weeks

I posted during the second quarter we would lead by 40 and end up winning by 7.

Its sad we are so predictable. We have injuries but we should have been 60 up easily and not let them back in

maybe I’ve been a melb supporter too long!

but thank Christ we won. Was good to see Oliver and Viney lift when the whips were cracking

Reckon Lewis will get a week for his bump? Only saw it once but looked high and late

thatll be 4 changes at least for next week

JKH, Lever, Gawn in. And maybe jordon, chandler, or Baker?

He's been [censored] for 5 weeks.....but the cockroach continues to play him & other 'out of form players & unfortunately this has been one of the issues all year. An in form goal kicking JKH would have been a better option than quite a few today.

Thank god for T Mac & Oliver.

That much is clear.

How important was Preuss in the ruck 44 HO 14 poss 5 marks a great replacement for Gawn. How good to have both of them playing together ?

With Preuss's performance today he might have cemented a spot in the side  for a number of weeks ahead. Goody would have been rapt with his performance as he outpointed Kreuzer.

Then again, Goody as the ultra conservative might have hated Preuss' game today - it adds another confusing dimension to the team and its performance, and he has tried so hard this year (Goodwin) to keep such influences out of the team as a measure of his own success and judgement. Preuss actually smashed Kreuzer.

Except for Viney's panic attacks and dumb decisions in the last 15 minutes - nearly sewed the game Carlscum's way.

I'm not disagreeing with you - I said, his output was better TODAY

I'd play JKH in front of Lockhart next week

Was a very hard game to watch but apart from Hunts goal in the last thought Tracs evasive skills were terrific especially when he avoided 4 blues in either the 3rd or 4th quarter.

He is finally looking like being in some sort of form.

Now he just needs to be consistent.

Is Clayton Oliver the worst umpired footballer in the history of the game?

First it was calling his lightning handballs throws, and now he's held at every contest, rarely wins a free kick. I dare say he doesn't have much chance of ever winning a Brownlow.

Robbie Flower didn't win a Charlie. He's in good company.

To the posters - or is it singular? - around here think the team 'didn't deserve' to win...Tell that to the players...preferably to their face. Contemptible garbage.

I am seeing lots of positive references to JKH today (ie we should bring him back in)...

Serious question, and I'm happy for you to change my mind. Have any of you watched any of the other games he played for the seniors after he was promoted, after showing good form in the seconds? In each instance, he's been poor. Lack of basic skills, and brings nothing unique to the team. Proof? He keeps getting dropped back to the seconds, where he then proceeds to 'shine' amongst the lesser types. When do we come to the realisation that something won't work? Bringing him back after we forget he's not that good (or at least not good enough for the seniors) won't solve any of our problems. Lockhart, however, has shown something. Not perfect, but his best has been far more interesting and exciting than anything JKH has ever shown while playing in the seniors.

So the kick in strategy appeared to be kick it to pruess at every opportunity yet rarely did we have a crumber on the ground next to him. Carlton sharked the ball on a dozen occasions.

Man we just play dumb football at times.

The might just not know which ones to call as he plays for them in every contest and complains about every single call.

Positives for me.

1. Won with only 1 on the bench in the last quarter.

2. Liked Pruess, Oliver and Frosts efforts to today to name a few.

3. There is room for improvement.

Well done Dees got the job done. Building for 2020

  • PREVIEW: North Melbourne

Can you believe it? After a long period of years over which Melbourne has dominated in matches against North Melbourne, the Demons are looking down the barrel at two defeats at the hands of the Kangaroos in the same season. And if that eventuates, it will come hot on the heels of an identical result against the Gold Coast Suns. How have the might fallen? There is a slight difference in that North Melbourne are not yet in the same place as Gold Coast. Like Melbourne, they are currently situated in the lower half of the ladder and though they did achieve a significant upset when the teams met earlier in the season, their subsequent form has been equally unimpressive and inconsistent.

  • REPORT: Adelaide

The atmosphere at the Melbourne Football Club at the beginning of the season was aspirational following an injury-plagued year in 2024. Coach Simon Goodwin had lofty expectations with the return of key players, the anticipated improvement from a maturing group with a few years of experience under their belts, and some exceptional young talent also joining the ranks. All of that went by the wayside as the team failed to click into action early on. It rallied briefly with a new strategy but has fallen again with five more  consecutive defeats.

  • CASEY: Coburg

The Casey Demons returned to their home ground which was once a graveyard for opposing teams but they managed to gift the four points on offer to Coburg with yet another of their trademark displays of inaccuracy in front of goals and some undisciplined football that earned the displeasure of the umpires late in the game. The home team was welcomed by a small crowd at Casey Fields and looked right at home as it dominated the first three quarters and led for all bar the last five minutes of the game. In the end, they came away with nothing, despite winning everywhere but on the scoreboard and the free kick count.

  • POSTGAME: Rd 17 vs Adelaide

The Demons were wasteful early before putting the foot down early in the 2nd quarter but they chased tail for the remainder of the match. They could not get their first use of the footy after half time and when they did poor skills, execution and decision making let them down.
