FFS that is one of the stupidest things I’ve ever heard. I’m just glad they didn’t kill the poor bastard.

i personally trust the football / fitness etc. staff to be doing the right thing by our players

Some decisions to play players who are injured have been bizzare. Misson already has a job secured elsewhere so is his performance for the next several months something that isnt important?

If he wasn’t carrying so much extra weight.. he may have been able to resurface quicker!

Actually, if he is fat as everyone makes out, he should have floated!!

All good.

I had a fair few bevies and got home to find one of my favorite players had nearly drowned (probably not even close to what actually happened but that's how I read it at the time.)

My post was purely emotional.

The club should do some Mongolian throat singing together to increase their lung capacity. ?

I don't know about lung capacity...  but it Would help with sleep-apnea.

Go one better and get this mob for their throat singing and old school fighting lyrics...

"If you come with evil intentions, we'll give you a fight!" was surely written with $cully in mind.

This is what the Adelaide power stance was missing ?

That last effort on the boundary line to win that contested ball and kick it forward was huge.

Please lord let him one day put it all together and fulfil his potential.

May be he should have a near death experience each week

Maybe this pool training,  helps them to overcome some fears, as well.

Forcing them out of their comfort zones.

Something needs to be done about that ridiculous high ball drop. A good player will learn and adapt

They asked Maxy about it on the radio after the game and said yeah I have never seen a medicine ball used on the MCG before, pointing out what was the pint. Then they joked about his height helping him because he'd have his head out of water.

But then jokingly said maybe Petracca should do it again next week seeing as he played well today.

Apart from that horrible set shot for goal, I thought he was good today.

I was surprised to see he only had 11 disposals (along with only  2 tackles, 0 goals).   Obviously thats a very low output but he was very physical and had some big moments.  He certainly didn't play poorly, which you'd think he must have just looking at the stat count.

Still needs to lift big time though.

If/when he sheds some Kgs,  those number of contests,  and so disposals will increase.

  • REPORT: Essendon

What were they thinking? I mean by “they” the coaching panel and team selectors who chose the team to play against an opponent who, like Melbourne, had made a poor start to the season and who they appeared perfectly capable of beating in what was possibly the last chance to turn the season around. It’s no secret that the Demons’ forward line is totally dysfunctional, having opened the season barely able to average sixty points per game which means there has been no semblance of any system from the team going forward into attack. Nevertheless, on Saturday night at the Adelaide Oval in one of the Gather Round showcase games, Melbourne, with Max Gawn dominating the hit outs against a depleted Essendon ruck resulting from Nick Bryan’s early exit, finished just ahead in clearances won and found itself inside the 50 metre arc 51 times to 43. The end result was a final score that had the Bombers winning 15.6 (96) to 8.9 (57). On balance, one could expect this to result in a two or three goal win, but in this case, it translated into a six and a half goal defeat because they only managed to convert eight times or 11.68% of their entries. The Bombers more than doubled that. On Thursday night at the same ground, the losing team Adelaide managed to score 100 points from almost the same number of times inside 50.

It’s Game Day, and the Demons are staring down the barrel of an 0-5 start for the first time since 2012 as they take on Essendon at Adelaide Oval for Gather Round. In that forgettable season, Melbourne finally broke their drought by toppling the Bombers. Can lightning strike twice? Will the Dees turn their nightmare start around and breathe life back into 2025?
