Agree if we give up 3, itโ€™s likely to be 12,ย 14 and Bonar. ย

Thats very appealing. ย

Connor Menadue should be a player we are seriously looking at!

If P3: split picks, draft Stephens and Weightman, the rest as above.

and if this rumour is true that we're after weightman (should we get pick 3 & split the pick with gws) what happens if he isn't there? we get stephens (a runner) and what other small forward type i wonder? there's a few options, but all not worth splitting the pick in my opinon. they'd better be damn sure that the first 13 or so clubs with picks don't want weightman either.ย

On the Road To The Draft Podcast this week, they said Weightman couldย go between 10-20. So he has been moving up the draft order. I would also like to know which news said we were looking at him yesterday too, I couldnโ€™t find any mention. I think he is exactly what we need though. Please donโ€™t draft another inside mid!

yeah i heard that podcast.. but surely a club is taking him before a tall that may not work out around the 10-15 range. he looks pretty good to go. we shall see, but seriously doubt the club would take him at 3 if we kept that, i reckon ash would be more of a chance

Matt Balmer's latest ranking of the top 30 prospects post NAB league prelim final. Rowell still at the top, but Anderson not far behind.ย  Weightman ranked 19. FWIW, if splitting the pick involves one of the picks falling beyond pick 14 or 15, I'd be ropable:

What if we were able to land Caldwell with those two first rounders from GWS? Would that change your view?

Freo will want one of them for Langdon pick 15 currently likely to get pushed back a few spots.ย

I like Caldwell, thoughย he's not quite what we need in midfield. He can spread and play on the outside, but another whose game is focused on winning the ball on the inside.

It would be a decent trade in isolation, but should we just beย taking one ofย Ash/Young/Stephens?

I'd still have some discomfort (admittedly lessened)ย even if Caldwell were added to the deal.

Fair enough mate. You know the kids a lot better than I do, so if you think Ash/Young/Stephens are where it's at, it's certainly worth thinking about.

Probably look to trade Stretch back to Adelaide. Anyone of interest in return? Riley Knight - small forward.ย Paul Seedsman - midfield runner. ย

Stretch has no trade value. Heโ€™s a third round pick whoโ€™s been injured and failed to crack a role at afl level. Heโ€™d be worth a token pick 70-80 to get him where he wants to go if he wants to leave.

Most of our depth like Wagner, JKH etc have no trade value either.

Agree. Stretch just does not have a single AFL level trait that sets him apart. Good endurance runner but doesn't cover the ground with speed. Poor kick, slight frame, average at everything else.ย

I reckon he is pretty good kick actually. His issue is that so often he holds the ball up and does not release straight away

we have 3ย of those that are clogging our list, Stretch and ANB and JKH.. they have no redeeming features as player, Billy and ANB are good runners, but like you say average at best at the other very important facets of the game. to have them both on the list next season would be crazy, and i believe ANB has re-signed, so JKH and or Billy have to go, we have seen enough.

Is Lewis Taylor from Brisbane worth a look? He seems to have fallen out of favour up there?

yep, i think so, obviously for a packet of chips, but i think so, and i would swap a JKH for Lewis Taylor.. change of environments can do wonders for players.. why not, we should consider everyone.

Don't think Lewis Taylor will go for a packet of chips. IMOย a late 2nd rounder, about mid 30s, would be around the mark.

yeah you maybe closer to the mark, but i wouldntย pay anymore than a late 3rd rounder for him.

He played 5 games all season and is OOC.

I'd be offering a 4th rounder for him.

It was a frustrating season for the former number 13 draft selection, who failed to build momentum in his second campaign; Tholstrup played only nine games, having been omitted twice and substituted out three times. However, he demonstrated promising signs in the midfield at Casey towards the end of the season, and big things are anticipated from him in the coming years.
