Its never good to see a player be seriously injured.  But there is a bit of karma in Rance's knee injury.

How many players have his knees seriously damaged?  Rance often goes for a mark leading with his knee into a players head or back even when he has no chance of marking.  He broke Tim Smith's ribs a couple of years ago.  Smith didn't play again for a while.

As they say 'live by the sword, die by the sword'.

Richmond have been lucky with injuries.  This will test them.

Probably ruins his Gold Logie chances too ?

As I said during the game last night the centre clearances are still a big problem for the Tiges.

16 to 10 in Carltons favour.

With the new 666 rule a good centre clearance team will take full advantage and bury them.

...and without Rance it exposes them more.

It's set up for the Pies next week.

Carlton were pretty impressive last night considering where they are.

By no means will they do much this year, but the building blocks are definitely in place.

Richmond did enough to get over the line. There will be a period of adjustment for them now with Rance out. His importance cannot be understated though he isn't a great one on one defender in my eyes. Who they can get as that this man up/intercept defender is important for their season (if it is an ACL add rumored).

Still a long way to go for Carlton, but the fact they got within 2 goals in the 3rd quarter has shown the weakness in Richmonds armour.

While it was only one game Martin and Cotchin have dropped off considerably from their 2017 form, but they are still very good players.  It happens with age.  Cripps and Walsh really took it up to them and the clearance stats went Carltons way.  It's not the 666 stuff, that is a complete furphy.  If Richmond were to lose Nankervis...then they would be really stuffed.

The Bloos need to get rid of those old stagers that fill their side before they can become a genuine threat.  Jones, Fasolo, and Simpson are just list cloggers...but then they haven't got anyone else at the moment.

Anyone seen the video of the ugly brawl in the stands after the game last night?

Absolutely appalling behaviour by one Richmond fan in particular. The article reports one man was charged with riotous behaviour and fined $322. The victims don’t wish to pursue further police action but i sincerely hope the MCG step in and ban the thug for life. We play them in a few weeks and we shouldn’t have to put our kids at risk with thugs like that.

Watch over the weekend and next weeks Collingwood game before you say it's a complete furphy.

Carlton weren't good enough to take advantage.

A team with a well set up mid and forward line has a window of opportunity to score quickly.

I see where goot is going...and yes Nankervis  out would cripple them ? but I think you're onto something. Will be interesting to see how the rules would in real time ...unreal games...Ie. no one foxing ;)

I know Rance has his detractors, but I admire him for this1941913373_Rancequote.PNG.83c76556409fc38290b318f92dc1ac67.PNG:

Richmond has had an incredible run of good luck without injuries to key players in recent seasons. Should they lose one more of Martin, Cotchin or Reiwoldt for an extended period, they'll be in big trouble.

You can add Nankervis to the list too.

You have zero context surrounding that situation, nor the personal circumstances surrounding those involved. Yet, you have quickly called for a lifetime ban based on a few seconds of video. The outrage brigade commentary is getting more and more annoying by the day.

Kids at risk? Is there a separate video of this guy belting an 8 year old that I haven't seen yet?

Kids aren't necessarily at risk or in direct danger but is it okay for kids to see this sort of violence unfold in front of them?
NO.

Have you seen the video? The bloke went postal and started throwing huge punches. Absolutely appalling.

Don't need to know any of the context. Violence displayed by this individual should see him banned.

Right, so you are condoning that sort of behavior because..... its a patrons right to fight? Of course kids can get hurt and be seriously injured. Personal circumstances? They should be automatically banned so it can help curb that sort of behavior in the future, so innocent people dont get hurt or worse. You fall and hit your head on that concrete and that could be a life. There can be long lasting effects from those incidents. If it happened to your family or friends you might just be outraged as well.

You’re right Smokey, I have no context at all but what I have seen is appalling behaviour. An innocent party could have got hurt from the altercation was my point. These ugly scenes aren’t needed in the game.

Yes, I was outraged from the clip and we don’t need to get to a stage where fans think twice about taking their family to the footy.

Nothing happened to anyone's family, a few blokes had a dust up and called it a day as far as I can tell. Context is key. How do you know who started that? I'm not condoning the behavior, I just dont like the idea of crucifying people before all the facts are known.

I'll save my outrage for situations that aren't hypothetical in any case.

There no doubt its poor behavior. I just personally wouldn't point the blame finger at anyone that was involved because I don't know why it happened. The bloke that ate those punches could've slapped a child across the face before the video started rolling for all I know ...

Right so the bloke lying on the ground doesnt belong to anyones family? Hes just an anonymous bloke.

Its the guy repeatedly throwing punches and someone lying on the ground not moving that is the image Dee Zephyr was referring to. Its very clear. How is it relevant which one of those two started it?

Since you enjoy hypotheticals so much, here's one:

Bloke that ate those punches sexually assaults a women in the crowd. Her husband, wearing a filthy Richmond guernsey, remonstrates.

Whats wrong with understanding the full narrative before forming an opinion on something?

    BOILED LOLLIES by The Oracle

In the space of a month Melbourne has gone from chocolates to boiled lollies in terms of its standing as a candidate for the AFL premiership.  The club faces its moment of truth against a badly bruised up Collingwood at the MCG. A win will give it some respite but even then, it won’t be regarded particularly well being against an opponent carrying the burden of an injured playing list. A loss would be a disaster. The Demons have gone from a six/two win/loss ratio and a strong percentag

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an

    ALAS SPRINGS by Whispering Jack

I got the word on Saturday from someone who knows someone inside the Fremantle camp that the Dockers were pumped and supremely confident about getting the W the next day against Melbourne at TIO Traeger Park in the red heart of the country. I was informed that the Dockers were extremely confident for a number of reasons. They had beaten the Demons on their home territory at the MCG at their last two meetings so they didn’t see beating them at Alice Springs as a problem. They belie

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,
