Some anger management therapy wouldn't be the worst idea for him if he doesn't do it already. There's no denying his ability, but when someone is so prone to spending time on the sidelines due to infractions it makes it hard to truly rely on him to permanently fill the role we require, as an incident at the pointy end of the season could spell disaster for our backline structure.

I liked the banter between the two of them when Lynch suggested this to May - "big Anzac Eve game, you'll play on me"

May: "Nah - I take the No 1 key forward, I'll be playing on Riewoldt"

If people bothered to read the article they will come to realise that it's actually Alistair Lynch making the statement and not May's old teammate now at the Tigers.

When I posted the article the thought that some might confuse them did cross my mind but then I thought "nah that couldn't possibly happen" yet here we are.

I didn't read it but did find it strange that a teammate of Alex Rance would make that comment. Makes more sense now.

Whoops.

Here's me assuming it was the Lynch who was an ex teammate, ex co captain, and someone who probably knows May's game as well as anyone in football.

When has that ever been a pre-requisite for posting on here?

sometimes I don’t even watch the 2 minute highlight package of our new recruits before I judge them.

I think Harris Andrews will become the best defender in the league, probably by the end of the year, could also be a gun CHF

Agreed. Super talented tall footballer. The Lions have assembled quite a nice batch of youngsters. If they can hold onto them they’ll challenge us over the next few years.

I expect all clubs to challenge us over the next few years.
But we should do some challenging of our own 1st.

Now Hutchy owns Sen, I avoid the network and their stories

When it was necessary to chase a tall tough key mobile backman to help nullify opposition tall forwards  to our club Goody recognised that S May fit that bill. He is one of the best backs and also versatile. He can link up the ground and can  also make the play by breaking the lines. IMO he will show his worth with  his first challenge being Hawkins next week if selected. No doubt.

May will possibly stand beside Lynch, Hogan , Josh kennedy  ,B Brown, Franklin sometime this year and some others and believe he will be up to it.

Steven May  the Plug that stops the leaks and J Lever will be back soon enough to help with the mopping up.

Steven MAY become the best defender in the comp.

Or he MAY not.

  • Thank You Simon Goodwin

As Demon fans, we’ve ridden a rollercoaster of emotions over the decades; the heartbreaks, the near misses, the wooden spoons, and the endless waiting. But through it all, we clung to hope. And then came Simon Goodwin. Before he ever wore red and blue, he was a champion in his own right. A five-time All-Australian, two-time Best and Fairest, and two-time premiership hero and Captain with Adelaide, Simon Goodwin was always destined to lead. When he transitioned from the field to the coach's box, first as an assistant at Essendon, he began shaping a new legacy.

  • PREVIEW: Western Bulldogs

Long ago and far away, the Melbourne Football Club replaced its coach in difficult circumstances after the team suffered a devastating loss. In the aftermath, I penned the following words: “Then came the politics, the intrigue, the axing, the sound of the football world laughing at a club, the circling of the media vultures, the reinvention of history, the anger, the irony, the pathos, the hurt on the face of the president, the dignified departure of the coach, and the determination of the newly appointed caretaker.” Today, we’re back in the same place although one difference here is that the coach who was terminated this time is Simon Goodwin, the man who four years ago

  • REPORT: West Coast

The Charles Dickens novel, A Tale of Two Cities, opens with, “It was the best of times, it was the worst of times, it was the age of wisdom, it was the age of foolishness, it was the epoch of belief, it was the epoch of incredulity, …”  This phrase highlights many of the significant challenges that humanity encounters in life, ranging from experiencing remarkable highs to living in times of despair. This is a concept that should resonate with all supporters of the Melbourne Football Club this morning as they reflect on its comprehensive 83-point victory over the struggling West Coast Eagles at Marvel Stadium. The outcome proved beyond doubt that they are the worst of clubs and that we are the best of the worst.

The Demons return to town fresh off a thumping win over the back-to-back wooden spooners, the West Coast Eagles, played in front of a sparse crowd at Marvel Stadium, the same venue that hosted last week's heartbreaking loss.
