Got my MCC/MFC pack in NSW - when I returned on New Years Day. I didn't receive a text. No membership card.

Dee Zephyr - I'll take a photo of the scarf tonight and post it here. Very different to previous (red and blue interchanging v's) - 2019 MCC/MFC members will stand out.

Is it red Tony? They have had a habit over the years of giving us Maroon and a couple that looked pink in certain light conditions and even an orange.

True, but you can't trust Australia Post, at that time of the year, to come through for you.

I got my daughters pack last week and she loved it. Didn't matter when it arrived, she just loved getting it in the mail.

I'm probably being a little heartless here as I understand some hoping it arrives as an Xmas present would have been let down but if you get a text and Australia Post let you down then it's not on the club.

I did get an email from the club today regarding the late arrival, so they were aware.

I've received 2 out of 3 memberships, paid for in early October. Both received after Xmas (fortunately not gifts). Nothing from the club - emails, texts on the outstanding third (mine ? ) I've been blaming Aust Post with the Xmas rush, but I don't think that's fair.

As you say, as long as we get them all by R1.

Mine came after Xmas, with membership card but missing the 12 mth calendar and the fridge magnet / fixture schedule.

Anyone else missing those items?

I did email the club and got an auto reply about their out of office period, so not concerned for now.

Well it looks red just for a change. Thanks TA.

Got mine in the last few days although I have been in QLD. Happy, then again didn’t need it urgently.

Never trust Auspost.

Despite the MFC promises, I still think its a logistical long shot to expect about 30,000 packs to arrive in time for Xmas. Our membership is on the rise and outsourcing is often hand-in-mouth.

It's a 1st world problem, kids or adults.

If you get your card prior to Round 1, why does it matter when you get it?

First world problems.

It is the lack of communication from the club that is the problem, not the delay.

I have received my card before Christmas every year but this one. Don't send me a text on 19 December saying my pack is with Australia Post and will be received imminently, and then come up with some sh!te about printing issues in the second week of January. It doesn't matter whether it arrives in December or January or on the 22nd of March (although I would like to hang the calendar before then), just let us know what to expect.

I have received no communication from the club since 19 December and have not received my pack. Is it with the printers, with Australia Post, or has it fallen down the back of Gary Pert's desk?

+1 to Poita.

The lack of communication is not acceptable from a members' based club. I received my package today and received a kid's package before xmas. Still waiting for my wife's package and another kid's package. All memberships were renewed in plenty of time (we are MCC/MFC so renewed before finals). And this after receiving a text on 19 December that they were on the way.

What is further troubling is that the email in the Demonland post above was not received by all members who are on the email distribution list nor was there a follow up text to update us. Even if the office was closed, someone would have been monitoring this site and picked up the complaints and made an executive decision to inform the members.

We always knew that PJ loved us. GP has to earn his stripes. Disappointing but we still love our dees.

Received mine late last week sans scarf. Do all members get a scarf or did I forget to tick a box or something?

If you’re a local member you need to collect it on game day. You’ll see on the back of the card there’s usually a little S symbol which the staff at the tents will use to mark off once you’ve collected it.

I think they’re available for collection for about 5 of the first rounds.

Update to previous post.

When I opened the package addressed to me I found that my wife's package was also included. Solves one mystery.

Still don't have second kid's package. Can't give one without the other.

What communication did you want?

The email comes from Australia Post, not the club.  If Australia Post acknowledge it, but it arrives later than expected, then that's on Australia Post, not the club.  They can't control that.

As someone else mentioned above, we would be sending out an absolute bucket load of memberships, probably more than they have ever done prior to Xmas.  It's only reasonable to expect a few hiccups.  Nothing is perfect.

On the flip side, I reckon they did a ripper job with the kids packs.  Shoelaces, tattoos, mini footy, pillow case... my daughter loved it and she proudly sported her 'Maxy Gawn' and 'Jack Biney' (she is still learning to say 'Viney') tattoos for days.

Ah, right.  So we've already started the 'blame Pert for absolutely everything' stuff?  Dear me.

There is a specific membership team in place who would handle all of this.  If you want someone to blame, then it's on them, not Pert.

Agree with 99% of what you have said on this subject over the last couple of days Wise. However the buck stops at the top. Let's hope they only promise to delivery to people before Christmas in 2019 who request it. Under promise and over deliver in 2019.

No blame game. The buck always stops at the top. That's why he earns the big bucks.

Nothing personal but if the response doesn't come from the top then, in a membership based club, it doesn't look right.

Loyalty and devotion should be reciprocated.

Ok, everyone can relax now...I FINALLY GOT MY MEMBERSHIP PACK in the mail today.

Everything in tact except no TMac picture on my card as requested. Which maybe is a good thing cos last year I had Hunt and he had a shocker. Don’t wanna jinx TMac.

  • PREVIEW: Essendon

As the focus of the AFL moves exclusively to South Australia for Gather Round, the question is raised as to what are we going to get from the  Melbourne Football Club this weekend? Will it be a repeat of the slop fest of the last three weeks that have seen the team score a measly 174 points and concede 310 or will a return to the City of Churches and the scene where they performed at their best in 2024 act as a wakeup call and bring them out of their early season reverie?  Or will the sleepy Dees treat their fans to a reenactment of their lazy effort from the first Gather Round of two years ago when they allowed the Bombers to trample all over them on a soggy and wet Adelaide Oval? The two examples from above tell us how fickle form can be in football. Last year, a committed group of players turned up in Adelaide with a businesslike mindset. They had a plan, went in confidently and hard for the football and kicked winning scores against both home teams in a difficult environment for visitors. And they repeated that sort of effort later in the season when they played Essendon at the MCG.

  • PREGAME: Essendon

Facing the very real and daunting prospect of starting the season with five straight losses, the Demons head to South Australia for the annual Gather Round, where they’ll take on the Bombers in search of their first win of the year. Who comes in, and who comes out?

  • NON-MFC: Round 05

Gather Round is here, kicking off with a Thursday night blockbuster as Adelaide faces Geelong. The Crows will be out for redemption after a controversial loss last week. Saturday starts with the Magpies taking on the Swans. Collingwood will be eager to cement their spot in the top eight, while Sydney is hot on their heels. In the Barossa Valley, two rising sides go head-to-head in a fascinating battle to prove they're the real deal. Later, Carlton and West Coast face off at Adelaide Oval, both desperate to notch their first win of the season. The action then shifts to Norwood, where the undefeated Lions will aim to keep their streak alive against the Bulldogs. Sunday’s games begin in the Barossa with Richmond up against Fremantle. In Norwood, the Saints will be looking to take a scalp when they come up against the Giants. The round concludes with a fiery rematch of last year's semi-final, as the Hawks seek revenge for their narrow loss to Port Adelaide. Who are you tipping this week and what are the best results for the Demons besides us winning?

  • CASEY: Geelong

There was a time in the second quarter of the game at the Cattery on Friday afternoon when the Casey Demons threatened to take the game apart against the Cats. The Demons had been well on top early but were struggling to convert their ascendancy over the ground until Tom Fullarton’s burst of three goals in the space of eight minutes on the way to a five goal haul and his best game for the club since arriving from Brisbane at the end of 2023. He was leading, marking and otherwise giving his opponents a merry dance as Casey grabbed a three goal lead in the blink of an eye. Fullarton has now kicked ten goals in Casey’s three matches and, with Melbourne’s forward conversion woes, he is definitely in with a chance to get his first game with the club in next week’s Gather Round in Adelaide. Despite the tall forward’s efforts - he finished with 19 disposals and eight marks and had four hit outs as back up to Will Verrall in the second half - it wasn’t enough as Geelong reigned in the lead through persistent attacks and eventually clawed their way to the lead early in the last and held it till they achieved the end aim of victory.

  • REPORT: Geelong

I was disappointed to hear Goody say at his post match presser after the team’s 39 point defeat against Geelong that "we're getting high quality entry, just poor execution" because Melbourne’s problems extend far beyond that after its 0 - 4 start to the 2025 football season. There are clearly problems with poor execution, some of which were evident well before the current season and were in play when the Demons met the Cats in early May last year and beat them in a near top-of-the-table clash that saw both sides sitting comfortably in the top four after round eight. Since that game, the Demons’ performances have been positively Third World with only five wins in 19 games with a no longer majestic midfield and a dysfunctional forward line that has become too easy for opposing coaches to counter. This is an area of their game that is currently being played out as if they were all completely panic-stricken.

  • NON-MFC: Round 04

Round 4 kicks off with a blockbuster on Thursday night as traditional rivals Collingwood and Carlton clash at the MCG, with the Magpies looking to assert themselves as early-season contenders and the Blues seeking their first win of the season. Saturday opens with Gold Coast hosting Adelaide, a key test for the Suns as they aim to back up their big win last week, while the Crows will be looking to keep their perfect record intact. Reigning wooden spooners Richmond have the daunting task of facing reigning premiers Brisbane at the ‘G and the Lions will be eager to reaffirm their premiership credentials after a patchy start. Saturday night sees North Melbourne take on Sydney at Marvel Stadium, with the Swans looking to build on their first win of the season last week against a rebuilding Roos outfit. Sunday’s action begins with GWS hosting West Coast at ENGIE Stadium, a game that could get ugly very early for the visitors. Port Adelaide vs St Kilda at Adelaide Oval looms as a interesting clash, with both clubs form being very hard to read. The round wraps up with Fremantle taking on the Western Bulldogs at Optus Stadium in what could be a fierce contest between two sides with top-eight ambitions. Who are you tipping this week and what are the best results for the Demons besides us winning?
