You working on the boats these days Skuit? ?

As Amdam clarified, I'm a purist not a prostitute - living but not working on the boats. But I did return to my office of about 12 - majority Dutch - from holidays recently and they'd hired some other Aussie bloke. Old mate says he supports the MFC, but the kid is fair-weather and lapsed - probably worse than working with a Collingwood supporter to be fair

I used to live in Cairns and early 2000s the Dees played a pre season game up there.

Went out that night to one of the hotspots and the bulk of the team where all there getting on it! Had a chat to Neita and he introduced me to a bunch of the lads, including Jeff White , Yze even Matty Bate who had just been recruited and Neita said he's a future 200 gamer.......

Great night,  spewing I had to leave around 230am(they were still kicking on) as i started work at 7am, oh my head.

I was at that match and at a club afterwards. Got embroiled in a bit of a love triangle (polite way of saying that the girl I was half-seeing at the time saw me pick up another girl from onstage while we were dancing to her set), and so may have been distracted. Which club was it Hell Bent?

Geez what a professional bunch they must have been!

Getting well and truly on the sauce 3 weeks before round 1

Haha that team loved a night out.

I was living in StKilda around that time and Neita must have moved into the area. He spent a bit of time at the Vineyard, and there was a couple of nights were half the team was in there.

I was on a diving trip in West Papua a few weeks ago and we made a stop at a remote island called Banda Island. I have been there before and always take along a bag of school supplies for the kids.

To my shock and delight there were two mischievous little boys at the port in Melbourne Demon T-shirts. Admittedly they were pretty well worn and had seen better days and I asked one of them if he knew what the emblem was. He looked at me like I was stupid and said ‘Go Dees’. He didn’t know where the T-shirts had come from and they looked as though they had been handed down several times.

I was so chuffed as most of the other passengers on the boat were from Perth and WCE supporters. Didn’t see any of their T-shirts.

Made a mental note to bring along half a dozen next year when I go back.

Gilligan's Skuit! I was a regular at the Woodshed though a few of my mates worked there..... Those were the days!

Yeah it surprised me BBP but I reckon they wouldn't have been alone back in those days. I've seen The Roosters getting on it in Sth Yarra after a game against the Storm only 2 years ago,  weeks away from finals!

I can vouch for that.

Mad Monday’s often started at the Vinny.

Neita lived in Elwood for a long time

Ha!. I wrote a travel article once about an almost identical experience in a remote nowhere in far east PNG.

I also saw Simon Godfrey at Inflation nightclub about 15 years back. I went up to him and said "Go Dees" like a groupie. He looked at me strange. Good times.

I was at the Depot in Richmond on a Thursday night in 2002 and ran into Godfrey with his mates. I asked if he was playing on the weekend and I think he freaked he'd been recognised out on the town before a  game as there was pretty much no one else there. He proceeded to shout a few drinks for my mate and I. Awesome bloke,  haha. BTW, yes he was playing on the Sunday!!! Different times I guess. I wasn't in the greatest shape to work the next day or play on the Saturday myself after the session from memory!

I hope he is now in a better place

Jeffy Garlett randomly called my mobile a couple of years ago. He tried to sell me a membership.

Shame Uncle Humphrey didn't make the namesake of this song a Melbourne player. It would fit in well in this thread.

I fly into Timika Monday morning.

Unfortunately, not for diving.

Not too sure of the date (around 2010) I decided to play at Royal Pines  on the Gold Coast. Had paid and was waiting to join a group when the pro came up and said let them go and I have put you with the next group. No problems as the Japanese group left and I joined up with the next group. Well I was really happy ( I was wearing a MFC logo shirt) as he joined me up with Jeff White. What a day. By god he could hit a ball.

I can imagine he was very good at collecting drinks for everyone but when he went to pass it to you, did it miss you by some distance?

Just saw Jesse Hogan at Moonee Valley , enjoying himself with some young chick, bastard ?❤️?

I had Robbo call me same about 15 years ago. I said I'd happily sign up again if he promised to kick 50 the following year and Neita kicked 80. Told him if they did that we'd be top 4 and I'd have no problem recommiting for the next 5 years. I'm a ball breaker.

Of course, we bombed out...

Just helping the brother-in-law load a second hand clothesline at a property in Thurgoona (Albury) when the postie stopped with the mail - a bloke in his late fifties I reckon with tatts everywhere.

I was wearing my MFC cap and he commented “a Demons man hey?” I replied “yeah mate, what about you?”

”Bloody oath” as he stretched his hi-vis polo down his chest to expose a dirty great MFC logo tattooed on his right pec.

Sitting in a beachside cafe after a long walk on the Chrissy break, wearing a Demons cap to avoid the blistering sun.

Passer-by chimes in with "go dees".

My wife, who has little interest in football turns to me and says " It's just like a secret handshake with your mob isn't it?"

It’s lovely country around here - stinking hot though. I’m staying on a farm out near Jindera but have also been to Bright yesterday and did some water skiing on the Hume dam which my body still hasn’t forgiven me for. It was a bad idea to pull out the slalom ski and think I’m Mark Baretta after a four year hiatus.

  • REPORT: Western Bulldogs

The next coach of the Melbourne Football Club faces the challenge of teaching his players how to win games against all comers. At times during this tumultuous season, that task has seemed daunting, made more so in light of the surprise news last week of the sacking of premiership coach Simon Goodwin. However, there were also some positive signs from yesterday’s match against the Western Bulldogs that the challenge may not be as difficult as one might think. The two sides presented a genuine football spectacle, featuring pulsating competitive play with eight lead changes throughout the afternoon, in a display befitting a finals match. The result could have gone either way and in the end, it came down to which team could produce the most desperate of acts to provide a winning result. It was the Bulldogs who had their season on the line that won out by a six point margin that fitted the game and the effort of both sides.

  • CASEY: Brisbane

The rain had been falling heavily in south east Queensland when the match began at Springfield, west of Brisbane. The teams exchanged early goals and then the Casey Demons proceeded like a house on fire in the penultimate game of the VFL season against a strong opponent in the Brisbane Lions. Sparked by strong play around the ground by seasoned players in Charlie Spargo and Jack Billings, a strong effort from Bailey Laurie and promising work from youngsters in Kynan Brown and  Koltyn Tholstrup, the Demons with multiple goal kickers firing, raced to a 27 point lead late in the opening stanza. A highlight was a wonderful goal from Laurie who brilliantly sidestepped two opponents and kicked beautifully from 45 metres out.
