Can't believe some of you were expecting to not have to travel to Kardinia

why not..we drew 90+k last time we played them and we are being asked to go to a ground where there is a virtual lock out.

If it's good enough for Essendon etc why are we the perpetual bunny

Essendon's fixture:

They will feature in nine Thursday and Friday night games, as well as playing Good Friday, Anzac Day, the Dreamtime at the ‘G clash and the Country game against Geelong.

This is so [censored] for a team that couldn't make the 8 and haven't won a final in 5,000 days.

Geelong have to play a certain amount of games at KP.  Would we rather they play those games against the weak interstate sides basically gifting them a finals spot?

F-them I say, let's go down there in Round 2, get the job done, and that's one less free ticket to September for them.

Rotate the opposition... it's simple

Why should we forever be stuck with the left overs.

It's a fight for exposure.. and we're losing

Clearly that's the simple solution league-wide.  But the AFL won't do that, so best some get over it.

We'll i don't think that is true this year. We will get FTA exposure for this game and it is one that is likely to rate well, particularly given the thriller last year down there (how many times will we see 2EES goal in the pre game coverage?

And by the sounds of the orchestrate leak we will get plenty of plumb FTA night games this year.

Lets see on that front but given where we have come from in terms of coverage i would suggest we are winning the battle for exposure.

Exactly.

Geelong are no longer a powerhouse and we're no longer a basket case that will be flogged.

It's a shame there's a lack of seats there that affects our support base but as far as winning or losing goes, we go in as favourites.

Suggest we wait for the full fixture to come out before complaining about individual games. Context can be everything.

But yeah, will not be happy at all if Essendon are gifted an awesome draw based on potential and hype rather than performance.

Geelong in Geelong again. Losing QB as a home game. Get stuffed.

I hope Pert does better than this going forward.

Yeah, because Pert was responsible for us alternating the hosting rights of the QBD game, and for us having to play in Geelong. ?‍♂️

McGuire raised the alternating of the QBD game earlier this year, I'm amazed some are surprised by the decision.  That said, I would've preferred it to start next year given the Anzac Eve game is our away game in 2019.

58 minutes and counting. Woo hoo!!

It is not the decision to rotate the games but we will playing 2 away games on anzac eve and QB. that is where the problem lies but as soon as Eddie starts barking up a tree the AFL bend over to him.

To be fair we were gifted the home game for a long time. Eddie did us a favour. It's only fair to share it. My only gripe is that it should have alternated with our ANZAC home game. Eddie obviously did it on purpose. [censored]er

If we are playing Saturday night in round 2, how do we play a Thursday in round 4? Are they going to give us two six day breaks in a row!

I expect that the fixture would have been provided to official media outlets under embargo ahead of the original Wednesday noon release so they could prepare their content to coincide with its release.  Now it has been delayed for a day because "some clubs were unhappy" any changes should be known to the media.  It will be interesting to hear what they are.

"I, Eddie McGuire, the Collingwood Football Club (the two things being the one indivisible entity), actual controller of all things AFL,  hereby grant the hapless MFC the gift of CFC playing one more game at the G, of the CFC not having to travel, and of the CFC reaping the $$$ from its social club in the Ponsford stand. You may now rise."

I'm okay with sharing it. But it's not Eddie's to give or take away.

  • PREVIEW: Collingwood

Way back in March we contemplated the possibility of a Demon resurgence after Simon Goodwin’s summer of love. Many issues at the club had seemingly been addressed, key players were returning from injury and a brand new day was about to dawn. We imagined the coach pulling a rabbit out of a hat. The team would roar up the charts, push aside every opponent and make its way to a Grand Final ending in ultimate triumph with Goody and Max holding the premiership cup aloft under a shower of red and blue ticker tape.

  • AFLW REPORT: Western Bulldogs

We’re back! That was fun. The Mighty Dees’ Season 10 campaign is off toa flying start with a commanding 48-point winover the Western Bulldogs, retaining the Hampson-Hardeman Cup in style. After a hard-fought first half in slippery conditions, the Dees came out in the second half and showcased their trademark superior class, piling on four goals in the third termand never looked back.

  • REPORT: Hawthorn

The final score in Saturday's game against Hawthorn was almost identical to that from their last contest three months ago. Melbourne suffered comprehensive defeats in both games, but the similarities ended there. When they met in Round 9, the Demons were resurgent, seeking to redeem themselves after a lacklustre start to the season. They approached the game with vigour and dynamism, and were highly competitive for the first three quarters, during which they were at least on par with the Hawks. In the final term, they lapsed into error and were ultimately overrun, but the final result did not accurately reflect their effort and commitment throughout the match.

  • CASEY: Box Hill

The Casey Demons ended the regular season on a positive note and gained substantial momentum leading into the finals when they knocked the Box Hill Hawks off the top of the VFL ladder in their final round clash at Casey Fields. More importantly, they moved out of a wild card position in the finals race and secured a week's rest as they leapfrogged up the ladder into fifth place with their decisive 23-point victory over the team that had been the dominant force in the competition for most of the season.
