Most of that was after the trade. Same way Hogan will also go into be an AA Coleman medalist, Premiership player ect after this trade.

No chance....will be lucky to play in a Finals game let alone ever win a Premiership.

I saw someone post earlier that Port are right into him, but if the Hogan deal is done, we should be too. The kid looks a gun - speedy, agile, and a regular feature in the highlight reel.

check out these highlights from his 2017 and 2018 seasons. I saw on his Instagram he likes to sing as well - he can do duets with Robbo.

Oh my that kid is unique

He was 3rd in the count until his injury. That rates him only behind Oliver and Gawn and they are both top 10 players in the comp. Outside of Hogan there aren't too many 50 goal a year forwards in the AFL. What would we have to pay to trade for one? I'm tipping every other club would be asking for the equivalent to the Treloar trade for someone of Jesse's proven ability and age.

Hmmmm Gawn yes but Oliver no way in my eyes.He is good but certainly not top 10

Would love Rankine but can’t see Gold Coast passing up on him at pick 2 or 3. They’ll be taking a tall (Lukosius or a King brother) and the standout x-factor player in the draft. That’s Rankine.

Club has pushed him out the door, ridiculous 30 metre wind up kicks for goals struggling to make the distance, poor body language, injury prone, leadership issues, like the share market, sell at a high, it’s over, we want you to stay bro but you know, do what’s best for you, like leave.

I would agree with that.

Well, I’ll be happy to be proven wrong, but looks like Hogan is out the door. Shame because he’s such a talent and it would have been nice to keep the group that saw the beginning of our rise together.

But, it is what it is, and now it’s time to look at how we can maximise this to our advantage.

Personally, I see Freo giving us their picks 4 and 5 as the most appropriate compensation, but they may give us 5 and 10.

If we somehow manage to get both 4 and 5, then taking them to the draft is an absolute no brainer. Rankine and Walsh are exactly what we need. It might be possible to get both. That would be an insane result. I hear talk of Steven May, but I think if we wanted a similar player we'd of kept Pederson on. I don't see much difference in the two.

Listening to him today. “At the moment I’m contracted to Melbourne” you have to say he is gone. Don’t know when the sound bite was taken but wouldn’t be surprised if it was after he left the Freo facilities.

People say he is a Melbourne person and loves the club. I don’t know, but it’s pretty obvious he has an itch he wants to scratch.

Stuff may let’s trade 4-5 to suns for 2 and grab rankine, don’t think I have seen a kid like that before those highlights are awesome

You should probably track down the full ground full match footage and see his off ball behaviours before selling the farm. Highlight reels are just that.

Wouldve thought gcs are sick of drafting x factor players and having them leave or become flaky. Would be building the team like Roos did. A spine and inside tough nuts

What makes you think Rankine would be risky and not be tough? Could be the complete package. In which case he may well go No.1.

Even if the Dees went to the draft with pick 4 (effectively pick 5) chances are both Walsh and Rankine are both gone.

In which case give me an elite prime-of-career fullback in May over a five year project to see if a King brother is any good every day of the week.

Many won’t like reading that, Blue. But an element of truth in what you’re saying. Don’t reckon we’re fighting that hard to keep him to be honest.

Club has seen an opportunity to sell stock at inflated value. And is duly taking it. Good on us.

Agree we are not fighting that hard at least publicly. "We want to do what is best for you", "go explore your options" line from the club is  as good as saying happy enough if you go and we want to get maximum value. I don't have an issue with it but put yourself in Hogans shoes probably doesn't feel 100% wanted by our management.  If we really wanted him long term we would be saying Hogan is absolutely not being traded and Hogan would have a 4 year extension on the table from us.

I dunno if thats a dig at me, but seeing a 5min reel and deciding rankine for hogan by trading up, is about as knee jerk as it gets.

I know you don’t.

I don’t want to see JH kick 70 - 80 goals for Freo the way Kennedy does for Meth Coke.

Carlscum lost out on that trade badly.

It looks like Jesse wants to go home...   and dee-Weide, is home.

So unless you want to nobble him, I'm not sure what you want to happen.

Who did, 'Ptrctk' ??

I have never seen the goods from 'tracca', as yet.  Only some cheap promise's.   A glimpse of what might be,,, but isn't ?

The club probably would have had to let one of Brayshaw, Oliver, Harmes, Petracca, Mcdonald, and Hogan go at some point. Close to 0% chance we keep all together for the duration of their careers. Hogan leaving probably provides some flexibility, doubt they want to see him go but if they have an opportunity to get high value, of course they will do it.

I recall a pie fan saying petracca wasnt worth much and looking up his stats to compare. Tracc was on the same development curve as jordan de goey until late this year minus a good goal avg. Its just that JDG has stepped up a gear this season and in finals due to his pace and ability to nail his opportunities in front of goal. Petracca otherwise is pretty elite for his age, he'll only get better. He's judged pretty harshly due to his draft number and because he's a hybrid mid/fwd which will take time to really find his niche . He's a different beast to gus and doesnt have it so easily with the gawn taps like gus does.

Dees Hierarchy just need to sit and wait

....and all of us need to do the same .... we really only need Jesse and Preuss, KK and a deep backman ... plus internally, some very fine personalised training and development with our batch of young guns.

I'll add to the chorus: this boy would fit right in at the Demons and perhaps provide the missing midfield link. Would probably swap for Hogan straight up if I had the chance  - as he looks to be fairly AFL ready. But add some May and KK and some future and current pick swapsies and we're super-sweet. I'm almost certain that we've also engaged in draft tampering with GC before as well. God, Rankine and Oliver running amok in the middle would be crazy.

Thats unusually over the top for you Skuit.

Are you one of the posters advocating for picks 4 & 5 for Hogan? If you are do you really think this kid is worth 4 & 5?

Thats one hell of a talented kid.

Cheers Faulty. I told my boss to go [censored] himself this week and ended up with a far better contract - because he apparently dug my new fired-up emotional side (which is huge coming from a Dutchman). I must be on a roll - Skuit 2.0. Hopefully the MFC will adopt the same posture.

I genuinely believe based on limited footage and no real clue that our team would be significantly better off with Rankine rather than Hogan in the long-run. As such, i would take a straight swap right now, all things being equal.

I don't however expect we'll get 4 & 5 for Hogan and don't think it's a reasonable market expectation despite what we're giving up. I currently think it's probably likely to be 4 and something; maybe a player or a next year first, reasonably expected to be in the top five range.

If we can however wriggle our way into the next pick above the Saints following Carlton (surely Walsh) and GC (which I think will already have 2 and 3 through natural and compo picks?) by handing GC an 'overs' deal of both our two next year firsts for example  - Freo's 2ish and our 18ish (which can then be on-traded now) for May and KK, in exchange for a draft 'understanding', then I think we come out way on top.

GC can take both Kings and a potentially a top-line mid with some additional horse-trading, while we get Rankine, May and KK for Hogan and pick 18ish.  Again. I'm certain we've manipulated draft outcomes with GC in the past and have good trading relations.
