Close thread.

Best not to encourage rumour without any basis whatsoever

People have been asking that the thread be closed from as far back as page 2.

Probably a good thing the mods didn’t listen back then.

Wow, a hindsight hero.

I didn’t know that Hogan wanted to leave at the time hence the post.

Oh, ok then.

Close thread.

For the next couple of years it is inevitable that here will be a Hogan thread either here or on the main board (which is where it will pop up as the season gets underway).    No point in closing this till then.

I agree sue, keeps my mind away from TWSNBN....

[censored], how is this thread still going. Time to move on people.

Welcome, FD, to ManDee's 'Killjoy Club', and I quote:

' I would like to suggest that those asking for a thread to be closed be banned for 1 month. If the thread is going after the month ban them for life.

There are too many killjoys in life, don't come here if you don't like it. It is not compulsory.'

Horse floggers, uplift your sources of glee for the sake of the civilised, joyful status quo.

Our position is we don’t close threads just because someone thinks we’ve finished talking about a topic. Closure is only for if the thread needs to be shut down in order to maintain the code of conduct or protect the site.

You better let WJ know that.

Its so simple, if you don't like a thread don't go there.

If you don't like music or a tv program, don't tune in or turn it off.

True. But I don't think it is unreasonable for those who think a thread should be closed to say so.  As long as they don't keep coming back and saying it.

I'm not allowed to put anything on that has noise attached to it, except the toilet and the kettle.......

But care a thought for the administrators. 50 per cent want it closed down 50 per cent don’t.  The administrators close the thread and then get criticised by the other half. I think their position is completely understandable.

I’m well aware of the site’s policies Mr. Redleg. It’s why we heavily scrutinize that Tom Scully thread you started a while ago where about 2 pages of content have had to be deleted due to unacceptable posting.

That is about .02% of the thread that was unacceptable. That would make it the most acceptable thread on DL.

I feel like I have been admonished.

Wow it has disintegrated into a discussion about how and when a thread should be closed

can we add that to the reasons a thread should be closed?

close thread  ?

  • WHAT’S NEXT? by The Oracle

What’s next for a beleagured Melbourne Football Club down in form and confidence, facing  intense criticism and disapproval over some underwhelming recent performances and in the midst of a four game losing streak? Why, it’s Adelaide which boasts the best percentage in the AFL and has won six of its last seven games. The Crows are hot and not only that, the game is at the Adelaide Oval; yet another away fixture and the third in a row at a venue outside of Victoria. One of the problems the Demons have these days is that they rarely have the luxury of true home ground advantage, something they have enjoyed just once since mid April.

  • REPORT: Gold Coast

From the start, Melbourne’s performance against the Gold Coast Suns at Peoples First Stadium was nothing short of a massive botch up and it came down in the first instance to poor preparation. Rather than adequately preparing the team for battle against an opponent potentially on the skids after suffering three consecutive losses, the Demons looking anything but sharp and ready to play in the opening minutes of the game. By way of contrast, the Suns demonstrated a clear sense of purpose and will to win. From the very first bounce of the ball they were back to where they left off earlier in the season in Round Three when the teams met at the MCG. They ran rings around the Demons and finished the game off with a dominant six goal final term. This time, they produced another dominant quarter to start the game, restricting Melbourne to a solitary point to lead by six goals at the first break, by which time, the game was all but over.

  • CASEY: Gold Coast

Coming off four consecutive victories and with a team filled with 17 AFL listed players, the Casey Demons took to their early morning encounter with the lowly Gold Coast Suns at People First Stadium with the swagger of a team that thought a win was inevitable. They were smashing it for the first twenty minutes of the game after Tom Fullarton booted the first two goals but they then descended into an abyss of frustrating poor form and lackadaisical effort that saw the swagger and the early arrogance disappear by quarter time when their lead was overtaken by a more intense and committed opponent. The Suns continued to apply the pressure in the second quarter and got out to a three goal lead in mid term before the Demons fought back. A late goal to the home side before the half time bell saw them ten points up at the break and another surge in the third quarter saw them comfortably up with a 23 point lead at the final break.

  • POSTGAME: Rd 16 vs Gold Coast

The Demons did not come to play from the opening bounce and let the Gold Coast kick the first 5 goals of the match. They then outscored the Suns for the next 3 quarters but it was too little too late and their season is now effectively over.
