Our position is we don’t close threads just because someone thinks we’ve finished talking about a topic. Closure is only for if the thread needs to be shut down in order to maintain the code of conduct or protect the site.

True. But I don't think it is unreasonable for those who think a thread should be closed to say so.  As long as they don't keep coming back and saying it.

But care a thought for the administrators. 50 per cent want it closed down 50 per cent don’t.  The administrators close the thread and then get criticised by the other half. I think their position is completely understandable.

That is about .02% of the thread that was unacceptable. That would make it the most acceptable thread on DL.
