Freos stubborness could stuff everything up here if Crows get pick 5.

This is what happens when negotiations drag on. Take what you can get before other deals get in the way Adelaide sends 8 and 16 to freo for Neale to bris and 5 to Adelaide... And maybe a shuffle of later picks

That's a decent deal for all and makes May a whole lot harder of we only get 8 and 11 for Hogan. Suns will want more than 8

We don't exactly have a lot of currency this season...

Then we wait until next year. In the meantime we lowball GC and see if they bite. If they don't then so be it.

wow if pick 5 isn't part of Hogan deal.

It's time to walk away MFC.

If it were me, I’d say I’d pick 5 is off the table I’d nearly walk away and make a statement to Jesse and the industry.

I’ve heard from a source I trust very much that Fremantle have been an absolute nightmare for Brisbane to deal with in the lachie Neale trade. I can only imagine that’s been the same with the hogan situation. They’re asking massive overs from Brisbane and keep saying he’s contracted. I hope we do the same!

Time to tell Freo to FO!

Hogan for May + pick 11 is a good return. *Ducks*

I think anyone with empathy for a different club would think this is a fair deal.

I think it's very close to the right deal, but I would be pushing for GC to include KK and Pick 19 in that deal.  A shuffle of picks too.

Something like;

In; May, KK, Pick 24

Out; Pick 5, Pick 34

Means we are taking Pick 11 and 24 in to the draft, and when combined with May and KK, has cost us Hogan and Pick 34.

I would rate Hogan = May & KK (in terms of value to our needs).  Shuffling Picks 5 & 34 (2420 points) for Pick 11 & 24 (2114).

Pick 5 & 11 is a steal for Hogan. He’s not that good. Would prefer 5 and their 2019 1st rounder though.

If we trade Hogan and baulk at May because “we’ll get him as a free agent next year” it would be unprofessional and stupid in my opinion. If you’ve got a player of calibre wanting to join your club you shouldn’t look a gift horse in the mouth and should negotiate in good faith. MFC has taken this pragmatic approach in the past and I don’t see why it would change.

Equally,  Freo would be stupid to not trade for Hogan because “he’ll be cheaper when he’s OOC”.

I don’t think these “play hardball” approaches would ingratiate clubs to players, managers or the industry at large. It’s not about ‘winning’ a trade it’s about being pragmatic and mature.

What if... Lachie Neale is now available? Brisbane are either bluffing, or they've given away on getting him because of Freo's stubborness. Is Lachie Neale and pick 11 out of the question? I do rate Neale. And if we managed to use 11 + player + picks to get Steven May, then we'd be laughing. Just a thought. A far fetched one at that.

I do however think Brisbane are bluffing and using this to get Freo to do the pick 5 deal though.

Melbourne will trade pick 5 for May.

I'm looking forward to the meltdowns.

Me too. It’s gonna be Lever 2.0

I wonder if we bundle KK in that pick 5 trade. Maybe 5 for May and KK? And some late pick swaps?

Yes, he is. Jesse is an unbelievable talent. He’s easily the most talented current demons player.

That's the issue, if Freo finish say 10th next year it's only pick 8-9 they'll have.

And this is why Freo is a joke of a club and have had no success ever. Get over yourselves and get moving or you’ll end up with nothing.

Get tough - 5 and Brayshaw or p off

Statement time, indeed. Whilst I would like May in the team, we really do not need him. We do need Preuss and KK.

What is the obsession with Brayshaw other than being related to Angus? We don't need more inside mids. We're past the stage of grabbing the 'best available' we have obvious strengths and obvious deficiencies and Brayshaw does nothing to fix our deficiencies.

Hey Jesse, Freo obviously don't value you. Otherwise they would make a fair offer for you. All the promises they have made over the years, and now they value at less than May (an unloved full back). Why would you ever want to go there. Lyon is not a popular coach. The club is in dissaray and they are the 3rd worst scoring side in the AFL. Perhaps it is time to commit to the highest scoring side in the AFL with a popular coach at a great club that finished top 4 without you. If you really want to go home, tell Freo to make a fair offer or you will never come to them.

Freo can’t trade next years first as they already traded there 2019 3rd.

If this happens it will leave them with 8,11,16 and 24. 16 Will be for Lobb.

Doesnt leave them with enough for Hogan.

They actually don’t have 5 yet, it’s difficult to trade it

  • REPORT: Gold Coast

From the start, Melbourne’s performance against the Gold Coast Suns at Peoples First Stadium was nothing short of a massive botch up and it came down in the first instance to poor preparation. Rather than adequately preparing the team for battle against an opponent potentially on the skids after suffering three consecutive losses, the Demons looking anything but sharp and ready to play in the opening minutes of the game. By way of contrast, the Suns demonstrated a clear sense of purpose and will to win. From the very first bounce of the ball they were back to where they left off earlier in the season in Round Three when the teams met at the MCG. They ran rings around the Demons and finished the game off with a dominant six goal final term. This time, they produced another dominant quarter to start the game, restricting Melbourne to a solitary point to lead by six goals at the first break, by which time, the game was all but over.

  • CASEY: Gold Coast

Coming off four consecutive victories and with a team filled with 17 AFL listed players, the Casey Demons took to their early morning encounter with the lowly Gold Coast Suns at People First Stadium with the swagger of a team that thought a win was inevitable. They were smashing it for the first twenty minutes of the game after Tom Fullarton booted the first two goals but they then descended into an abyss of frustrating poor form and lackadaisical effort that saw the swagger and the early arrogance disappear by quarter time when their lead was overtaken by a more intense and committed opponent. The Suns continued to apply the pressure in the second quarter and got out to a three goal lead in mid term before the Demons fought back. A late goal to the home side before the half time bell saw them ten points up at the break and another surge in the third quarter saw them comfortably up with a 23 point lead at the final break.

  • POSTGAME: Rd 16 vs Gold Coast

The Demons did not come to play from the opening bounce and let the Gold Coast kick the first 5 goals of the match. They then outscored the Suns for the next 3 quarters but it was too little too late and their season is now effectively over.
