Massive accusation totally unsupported by evidence.

“The doc told me there was a bit of a stress over the navicular [bone], so it’s three to four weeks completely off it, and then three to four weeks in the moon boot. I’m just trying to prepare for 2019.

Did he wear a moon boot for 3-4 weeks for laughs?

Your response to that post is way too kind.

It was mentioned that GWS get pick 5 and hand over Lobb and 14. Has anyone done the points calculation on this trade. I ask because is what is 6 and 14 worth to us especially if pick 14 isn't enough for May? Would GC want pick 6 for May ?

What would Freemantle's first round pick next year be worth?  Would that be more attractive to GC than pick 14. So pick 6 this year and next years first round for Hogan.

After a comment from a wise man I think Mr. Hogan will be out and for less than we all think!!!!!!

I suspect this will not play out the way many imagine OD.

I think the FD know exactly what all the constraints are. The only real variables now are where 'others' picks will fall and therefore domino.

Trade week often throws up surprises.

Reminds me a bit of 'murder on the orient"'. Everyone had their story but the truth was a whole other matter.

To be fair there was pretty slim pickings after Pav retired.

My mail off a credible WA media personality is that the players aren't 'connecting' to Fyfes style.

Mundy was voted in when Pav moved on and my mail was the older players got that vote over the line. One year later as the list profile changed Fyfe was voted in and the players voted him in this year for a second time so he's doing something right.

We shall see what happens next year

Re Jessie's foot injury. I know one of the professional's at the club who were looking after his foot. Let me put to rest those who think he was faking, he very definitely had a crack in the Navicular bone. The club was grateful that it was early on and not a full fracture requiring surgery. Seriously some of the conjecture and conspiracy theories stated are way out of line.

Do we have enough room to keep Hogan while picking up May ?

I think JM said no.

GC will want a top 5 pick for sure. I do not necessarily think May is worth a top 5 pick but since Gold Coast will likely finish bottom three-five next year, they will just retain him for another year and then wait for compensation, which should guarantee them a top five pick anyway. For GC to accept the trade, I don't think pick 14 will do the job unfortunately, but also fair enough - I would hope Melbourne do the same if we were in their position.

This is why I think Melbourne are so adamant about pick 5 and 6; we obviously want to take one to the draft and use the other to secure May. If it were pick 5 and say pick 12, we would have to use pick 5 on May and pick 12 in the draft, which will still get us a pretty nifty player, but perhaps not who we are after (…hopefully Rankine ?)

I'm sure we can, If it's lightly 1st Yr loaded.

But we might have other things cooking.

But Tyson going to GC would lower the pick.

You have my deepest sympathy Mr  Leg.

If the Dockers want to give us say Pick 6 & 14 for Hogan.

I think we say ok! However, that includes Ed Langdon for our Pick 41.

If the Dockers are going to try and screw us on the Hogan deal then we have to screw them back. We should be talking to Ed if haven’t already!

some good logic there but GCS seem to be sick of May and remember although GCS get a low pick next year the recipient club pay nothing as well. So it's not quite the same.

Well argued though :)

i wouldn't be including any further picks of ours in the trade with them

5 and 14 and langdon for hogan i would consider

5 and next year's future first and langdon i would consider, and then probably say, sure, and cerra for our future first too

no matter what happens i want the pick BEFORE them in this year's draft

then 14 or freo future first, 41 and tyson to gc17 for may and kk

Not necessarily.

Trust me, if you're a surfer, as I am, you'll stay well away from a surf spot that has ideal waves day in, day out, if you can't surf.

Melb, GC & Freo scenario;

OUT - Hogan, Pick 41(Freo), Pick 14 & 2019 MFC First Round (GC), Tyson & Frost (GC),

IN - Pick 5, May, KK, Pick 26 (from GC), Ed Langdon,

Melbourne to try and get Tom Langdon from the Pies.

I sincerely hope we reject 6 & 14 and demand 6 & Freo’s 2019 first rounder.

Put the onus on Freo to rise up the ladder with Hogan.

I highly doubt the Suns would accept 14 for May as many on here hope.

Edited by EnterTheDragon

Apparently clubs want future 1st rounders rather than current firsts because this years draft really falls away after pick 6 or 7.

Via Paul Connors

Is there any merit to the rumour of Hogan for pick 6 and 14? Or just hypothetical

  • REPORT: Carlton

I am now certain that the decline in fortunes of the Melbourne Football Club from a premiership power with the potential for more success to come in the future, started when the team ran out for their Round 9 match up against Carlton last year. After knocking over the Cats in a fierce contest the week before, the Demons looked uninterested at the start of play and gave the Blues a six goal start. They recovered to almost snatch victory but lost narrowly with a score of 11.10.76 to 12.5.77. Yesterday, they revisited the scene and provided their fans with a similar display of ineptitude early in the proceedings. Their attitude at the start was poor, given that the game was so winnable. Unsurprisingly, the resulting score was almost identical to that of last year and for the fourth time in succession, the club has lost a game against Carlton despite having more scoring opportunities.

  • CASEY: Carlton

The Casey Demons smashed the Carlton Reserves off the park at Casey Fields on Sunday to retain a hold on an end of season wild card place. It was a comprehensive 108 point victory in which the home side was dominant and several of its players stood out but, in spite of the positivity of such a display, we need to place an asterisk over the outcome which saw a net 100 point advantage to the combined scores in the two contests between Demons and Blues over the weekend.

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.
