I appreciate that our time is now and we are doing all we can to have a tilt, but my concern is more about what is being brought in. What is out there that we are having a crack at? If you are improving your list, you can’t simply move players on and replace them with players of lesser quality. I don’t know that that will happen, but I don’t know that it won’t. We need players that improve our deficiency. Leg speed is one of those major deficiencies. If KK is the answer to that, then fantastic. He has played very little footy in recent times though.inwould have thought we would have been after a quality established mid, and maybe we still are, but it looks like other clubs are ahead of us. I will be happy to be proven wrong and see us land a big fish. I admit that the recruiting in recent years has been very good.

Definitely understand your points as well. Time will tell. I feel like we’ll get a net gain. Taylor, Mahoney and co haven’t let us down yet.

Barracking for them as a youth is an especially flimsy reason when he barracked for Adelaide as a youth.

I’ve said previously that I thought this move was 50/50 go home/go to Freo, who have been courting him since he came on the scene. I would guess (and it is only a guess) he doesn’t want West Coast because they haven’t spent the last 6 years trying to lure him. Or at least, not to the same extent.

Purely money, nothing less or nothing more.Players dont go to average clubs, will terrible coaches for any other reason .He could win a flag at WC & be at a better run club so saying its go home factor & then ruling out the best club is crap. It says ill be a stand out in a team that will never play Finals in my lifetime, look like the big man & make bucket loads of easy cash, with no extra games or training come September

As opposed to notionally living in Perth

It’s just his management saying that s MFC are dudded. It means we can’t force Freos hand and say give us two top picks or next year we send him to West Coast

Trade Radio - caller Rob just now has to be a Demonlander... ??

C'mon out yourself

What he say?

I can't stand listening to him, but I can't turn it off.

Been a long week, trying to get to the end of the day, and I think I'm being fuelled by my hatred of him to get me there! :)

Tom Boyd was traded for pick 6 and Ryan Griffen (still good at the time),

Weller was pick 2,

Hogan is worth double of those two even combined, so what gives this foolish man any reason to believe we will accept just 5.

Surely Jesse Hogan is worth more than Stephen May.... etc, etc

the stupid thing with Maclures argument isn't that we might have to give up pick 5 to land May. Most people expect that is likely to be the case... it's thats he is making trade 1 = trade 2. Trade 2 is  between the MFC and the Gold Coast. Trade 1 is the trade for Hogan is with Freo, and we should land pick 5, but Melbourne demand and expect more than just that. I don't think that the muppet knows how to do maths.... yet he is taking pot shots at Dal Santo for spelling!

Edited by Ouch!

chan marshall sums it up for me with her rihanna cover:

Not really sure how to feel about it
Something in the way you move
Makes me feel like I can't live without you
It takes me all the way
I want you to stay

Sam McClure just said it matters more how freo value hogan than ya in terms of a trade...

no sam, if I want to buy your car I also don’t get to set the value. Jesse is contracted and we are entitled to set the price required to Break it

well freo must value hogan pretty highly since they have been after him non-stop for at least 4 years

but wgaf what manure says or thinks?

I’ve posted previously that McClure on trade radio is essentially baiting and trolling for a reaction. I would be tempted to call up and suggest that we look at trading Bugg + T Smith + Tyson + Garlett to Carlton for Cripps and a second rounder for a taste of his own medicine.

  • REPORT: West Coast

On a night of counting, Melbourne captain Max Gawn made sure that his contribution counted. He was at his best and superb in the the ruck from the very start of the election night game against the West Coast Eagles at Optus Stadium, but after watching his dominance of the first quarter and a half of the clash evaporate into nothing as the Eagles booted four goals in the last ten minutes of the opening half, he turned the game on its head, with a ruckman’s masterclass in the second half.  No superlatives would be sufficient to describe the enormity of the skipper’s performance starting with his 47 hit outs, a career-high 35 possessions (22 of them contested), nine clearances, 12 score involvements and, after messing up an attempt or two, finally capping off one of the greatest rucking performances of all time, with a goal of own in the final quarter not long after he delivered a right angled pass into the arms of Daniel Turner who also goaled from a pocket (will we ever know if the pass is what was intended). That was enough to overturn a 12 point deficit after the Eagles scored the first goal of the second half into a 29 point lead at the last break and a winning final quarter (at last) for the Demons who decided not to rest their champion ruckman at the end this time around.

  • POSTGAME: West Coast

Following a disastrous 0–5 start to the season, the Demons have now made it three wins in a row, cruising past a lacklustre West Coast side on their own turf. Skipper Max Gawn was once again at his dominant best, delivering another ruck masterclass to lead the way.

  • GAMEDAY: West Coast

It's Game Day and the Demons have a chance to notch up their third consecutive win — something they haven’t done since Round 5, 2024. But to do it, they’ll need to exorcise the Demons of last year’s disastrous trip out West. Can the Dees continue their momentum, right the wrongs of that fateful clash, and take another step up the ladder on the road to redemption?
