Farewell Jesse Hogan

he could of course say... "trade me or I go next year" as a restricted free agent.

Life isn't straight forward... Players now decide... clubs take what they can get

I donโ€™t think he is a free agent next year

ย

The only reason I would entertain any deal for Hogan is if he said he will go to WA when he isย a FA. restricted or not, players end up where they like usually and we would be left with nothing for a gun.

is it 2021 when he will first be a FA?

To be honest, I think Cerra looks a lot better than Andrew brayshaw.ย

so would you if you still had your teeth... boom tish...ill see myself out.

If we can turn Hogan in to:

- May
- Preuss
- Ed Langdon

Then we've filled 3 needs (full back, back up ruck, wing) with 1 player leaving. I'd do that for sure.

It would be brutal but it's a brutal competition

Did Cerra not just re-sign for a couple of years.

Sounds like Preuss will be done regardless.

Or as some like to say, irregardless.

Jungle drums beating louder and louder .. blokes on DL who have unequivocally stated he wasn't going anywhere have to realise that you can never say never.. It's going to be an interesting month ahead.ย

By my calculations, Hogan is NOTย a free agent at the end of next year. Can anyone confirm?

Greg Denham and Jon Ralph?

Looks like itโ€™s happening.

Straight swap for Lachie Neale or pick 4 from the Neale to Brisbane deal plus Cerra.

Otherwise no go.

I don't recall one poster who has 'unequivocally stated he wasn't going anywhere'.ย

I'll wait for confirmation from Jesse or the club, but it seems where there is smoke, there may be fire.ย

Again, the Sun article stated that he hadn't asked to be traded, so I'll be interested to see how this unfolds.ย

you remember 56 pages of posts?

Will be absolutely filthy if all we get back for him is Steven May!

Don't get me wrong, May is a good player.. but he doesn't hold a candle to Hogan's potential in my view... In addition to the fact May is 3 years older!

Proof please. A single quote will do the trick.

If we are open to it, knowing he can't leave as an unrestricted free agent next season, then we will play hard ball. If Freo can get a high pick alone for Lachie Weller, then you would expect we get more than that. Their first pick and a young player (Brayshaw, for example), where we then trade the pick on to GC for May might make sense.ย

Denham's article in the Oz is a paragon of opinion dressed up as fact.ย  The only part that veers close to a a statement is prefaced with "it is understood" which is an old journalistic trick. Easy to deny - easy to say "told ya so". Appropriately Supernaut's "I Like it Both Ways" is a West Australian song.

"It is understood Melbourne are prepared to consider sacrificing Hogan for May after their glaring deficiency in defence against West Coast in last Saturdayโ€™s 11-goal preliminary final defeat, even with top backman Jake Lever expected back early next season from a knee reconstruction."

No way am I giving Hogan for ONLY Freo's pick 6 from Freo to ontrade for May.ย

ย

ย If he is going we need to take the Adrian Dodoro (Ess) approach. Some of his demands on behalf of his club have bordered on the absurd but there's no way in hell he'd leave the table without gaining an advantage. They want a potential champion, then you've got to give up something pretty bloody good.

And those posters, myself included, were going by the fact there was no proof. All signs were that he was happy, so why would we trade him?ย

Now that there is more info it changes things. That info is still unconfirmed, but there is potentially more legit stuff now.ย

Would feel better about that.. but would Freo be prepared to pay Brayshaw plus first round? Steep!

Both of Freo's first rounders, or one plus Brayshaw/Cerra. Nothing less.

Hold these purple peanuts to ransom.ย

Hogan is worth more than LEver, who cost us two first rounders.

So youre spot on.ย  And we can throw in Dean Kent .

  • REPORT: St. Kilda

One of the big stories of the AFL off-season was the spending spree of Melbourneโ€™s Round 1 opponent, St Kilda. They splashed out heavily, first to retain Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera - the hero of last yearโ€™s epic come-from-behind miracle victory -turning him into a $2 million man. They then effectively took out an expensive overdraft to recruit a string of expensive players from other clubs. It was a risky investment strategy and, although itโ€™s still early days, it certainly failed to pay off in Sundayโ€™s season opener, with much of the glitter turning to foolโ€™s gold.
