Can Max win a Brownlow to ease our pain?

Nah, Tom Mitchell the accumulator, with his 45 useless disposals a match will win it!

Gee tough one to swallow for these lads. Would have been a nice lift for our youngsters. Bernie it’s been an honour!

Selecting a bloke because he is captain. Clearly u havent watched him in the finals.Given absolutely zero. Rawlings needed to make the tough call and leave him out today. Glaringly obvious.

Wouldn't happen

Gutted boys. We tried, we really did but we couldn’t finish.

Worried about our depth now...not much from our listed players to be happy about in that match.  Garlett gone, Vince retiring, Bugg gone, White has no idea, Tim Smith not up to it, JKH showed a bit, but that's his level, pedo tries but he's not the future.  Hunt has regressed to the point that he isn't near AFL level.  We don't have much......

What a joke of a telecast.

No interviews or cup presentation shown

Well that was devastating. We led all day until the 13 minute mark of the last term.

We did not kick a goal in that final quarter, that will not win you a flag.

What a crap 24 hrs

This weekend has turned to shizen. Again the old mental weaknesses that melbourne have are at Casey. We played some dumb footy in second half and showed no poise at all.  Bugg, Garlett and JKH can all go and eff off.

7Mate has it

Culture of losing continues with our club ... number of senior players should quit or be moved on ...the weekend continues to be soured by port performance...

I thought Josh Wagner stunk up the joint in the 2nd half too. Looks like a lame duck final contract year for him.

Pittonet was the difference. Gave their mids an armchair ride round the clearances

Well the Coach played a bloke who didn’t get one possession in the Prelim and guess what, he only managed one today. Worst part is he is the Captain.

We can say goodbye to Garlett, Bugg, Smith, McKenna, Pedo, Filipovic and King. Vince has retired and I hate to say it, as I thought he could be anything, but Hunt must be on really shaky ground. He was terrible. We need to bring quite a few new players to improve our list.

That was a pretty awful coaching performance by Rawlings' and co.

Pedersen had to ruck most of the last quarter. Without winning it at the source they would never get it to him forward. Using Smith in the ruck for so long was a disaster.

Fritsch was being dragged deep in the backline. Why not move him on to a wing? He'd help get the ball moving.

Lockhart wasn't very effective mid/forward, he would've given some drive at half back.

JKH didn't get thrown in to the midfield despite looking like the cleanest mid to get his hands on it. Munro, Bugg both can tackle and crack in but they could never get a clean possession.

Not surprisingly Jeff was hopeless but where was the use of him off the back of the square to get him in the game?

It was yet another victory for Clarko footy over the rubbish we like to play and can't seem to drag ourselves out of.

Yep you saw it the way I did too, we need to find some depth to progress with the gains of this year, quickly....

Vince. Retired on time

Hunt.  At the crossroads

Keilty. Promote to AFL-list

Tsmith. Vfl level only

Wagner. Vfl level only

Bugg. Not good enough

Fritsch. See huge potential

Pedersen. Call it time

Gartlett. Totally lost interest.

Jkh. No more please

Petty. Still just developing

mckenna. We will delist

For those watching on TV how did Keilty look?

Dominant. He and Petty looked fantastic together and in the second half probably a little less so. I’d want him signed up by the end of the week.

Dont know why the hatred for Hunt here. He broke lines, he put his head over the ball and created contests. He also hit tagets which has been one of his big problems.

Also Box Hill tightened up on JKH after a rampant first quarter. Didn’t give him any space so not surprising he wasn’t as influential.

Garlett was poor, Bugg tried but he’s not the same anymore. McKenna seems some.

Pedersen. Call it time - we cannot only have 18 year olds playing, Someone goes down we need him

Gartlett. Totally lost interest. - hoping he resets in the offseason

Jkh. No more please - if we don’t keep him, he will play afl somewhere else

Petty. Still just developing - lot to like

You know things are going badly when your Captain plays a whole GF and has more boundary side interviews than possessions. Add to that Garletts CGAF performance and they played 2 short....at least...

  • REPORT: Western Bulldogs

The next coach of the Melbourne Football Club faces the challenge of teaching his players how to win games against all comers. At times during this tumultuous season, that task has seemed daunting, made more so in light of the surprise news last week of the sacking of premiership coach Simon Goodwin. However, there were also some positive signs from yesterday’s match against the Western Bulldogs that the challenge may not be as difficult as one might think. The two sides presented a genuine football spectacle, featuring pulsating competitive play with eight lead changes throughout the afternoon, in a display befitting a finals match. The result could have gone either way and in the end, it came down to which team could produce the most desperate of acts to provide a winning result. It was the Bulldogs who had their season on the line that won out by a six point margin that fitted the game and the effort of both sides.

  • CASEY: Brisbane

The rain had been falling heavily in south east Queensland when the match began at Springfield, west of Brisbane. The teams exchanged early goals and then the Casey Demons proceeded like a house on fire in the penultimate game of the VFL season against a strong opponent in the Brisbane Lions. Sparked by strong play around the ground by seasoned players in Charlie Spargo and Jack Billings, a strong effort from Bailey Laurie and promising work from youngsters in Kynan Brown and  Koltyn Tholstrup, the Demons with multiple goal kickers firing, raced to a 27 point lead late in the opening stanza. A highlight was a wonderful goal from Laurie who brilliantly sidestepped two opponents and kicked beautifully from 45 metres out.
