  • Why the f#ck did Brian cook sign on Chris Scott for another 3 years, best team on paper but no game plan or structure... “all the gear and no idea”
  • Not a good night for our boys, but, let's be realistic. The Dees were a much better side. More committed, disciplined and better decision making. They could go all the way. They played better than the Tigers did last night. Our boys gave it their all. We just weren't as good as Melbourne!
  • Lot of issues not just the coach game style. Not a lot of celebrations I’m afraid for a few years. Even Carlton would of beaten us tonight.
  • Free kick count was 24/20 Melbourne’s way, so can’t complain too much there. Melbourne just rocked the Cats in the first quarter and were steady for the rest of the game.
  • Dees - fast, decisive, clinical, ruthless, physical, intimidating. Cats - slow, old, ponderous, wayward, insipid....
  • Geelong have owned Melbourne since 2005 yet again we crash in a final
  • Melbourne were the the 4th worst team for being scored against when going inside 50 which just shows you can open them up with quick ball movement yet that wasn’t apart of any game plan either apparently.
  • We were beaten by a better team. I stress the word team
  • Proud of our boys but we over achieved this year like the last 3 years!!!
  • 13 wins which 8 out of 9 came from our ground.... meaning we only won 5 games out of 13 on the road which included 2 wins at the G (pies / dees)....so that is a 38% winning percentage away from home = 1f4a9.png?.
  • Bring back bomber Thompson at least he had no favourites .scott is Muppet goodbye ablett duncan Taylor guthrie menzel bews Murdoch
  • Credit to demons on their win however they also weren’t that great.

Demons also weren't that great?

What are they on? Otherwise, pretty classy I thought by the (few) Cats supporters I was around. Plenty saying good luck next week.

gracious in defeat? sure this is the geelong thread? in all seriousness, credit to their fans at the game, didnt sook around and let us enjoy it unlike other clubs' supporters.

We were pretty poor for two quarters.  Well, maybe not poor, but we dominated the game while being almost entirely ineffective in attack.  They could easily have pinched this one from us with a five-minute burst in the last because our ball movement going forward was terrible after quarter time.

I reckon I'd take our two bad quarters in this game over the majority of quarters we've played this year. Second quarter was aggravating, but only because we couldn't kick straight. 17 inside fifties to 6... and they only scored 2 goals on us.

I really think it was a 4 quarter effort with awful accuracy, personally. What I find a little surprising is that Cats fans think we weren't that good, when it was played in the manner of a 10 goal win.

Hell, even the coach and oppo captain said they were beaten by the far better side.

This. Absolutely this. Apart from a great first quarter and good last quarter, the middle 2 were not that crash hot. However, unlike many times this year, when we had our colder periods we didn't let them dominate (a lot due to their bad errors, but ours were almost equally bad).

There is still some real room for improvement come next week, which has me really starting to believe.

Yep, they've had their time in the sun and done very well (3 flags, fmd i just want one). Some Demons fool outside Richmond station parking lot getting stuck into Selwood for being a ducker (of course he is). But he's a ducker with 3 premiership medals.

Cats fans have been sensible with their thoughts on the game. Nothing written that's too far from the truth.

Scott would be in the hot seat if it were not for his extension. I expect some of their old guard to also retire.

Looked at Scotts media conference...it pains me to say that it was all class.  Check out his first comment

I can’t stand watching the bloke in the coaching box but he is always good to listen to.

As you pointed out his first comment was extremely classy. Very professional!

Fair enough Jumbo.

I have woken up with a positive spin on the world...must be the delightful feeling of winning a final for the first time in 12 years.

We owed Geelong and last night they got their due.

Go Demons!

It's not you, TSD....Geelong and Scott annoy the carp outta me

But, the only credit I give him is that he knew that his team was cooked and resorted to the atypical psychological babble about having 'a good preparation' he wouldn't play 'injured players' aka Viney, yada yada yada

I'm glad we punched the crap out of them last night

The cats rely on too few to get it done. That is what excites me about our group. There is something special happening - they bleed for each other

Anyone who says our 2nd and 3rd quarters were poor has no idea. It was only our inaccurate kicking that kept Geelong in the game. Should have won by at least 50 points.

We monstered them! Our pressure and intensity was magnificent. Cats players were looking over their shoulders all night.  Hawks are no chance against us.

Poor kicking ....Poor football.      we rushed kicks and sprayed the pill all over the place.  some minor composure and another say 2 goals,   Then the game was well over   ..

Agreed I thought Scott handled the moment very  gracially.

The best part about his comments were the intimation that the Geelong team is on the right path and that they don’t need to holistically change how they play footy. Because what did we learn @Clint Bizkit? Never be intimidated by a footy team that wants to play ‘bruise free footy’...

Yes, he did. Credit where credit is due.

Let’s not forget their last two home and away game results

Geelong 24.14.158 def Fremantle 3.7.25

Geelong 22.10.142 def Gold Coast Suns 5.10.40

Little wonder the powers that be at the Cattery believe Scott is the Messiah.

Rubbish

The words blistered his tongue

They were cooked from the outset and he tried to talk them up all week - no humility there!

I'm so glad we cleaned those [censored] up and soooo many supporters from other clubs are happy to see them join the Mad Monday 'get fined for being an NRL idiot' queue

Oh, I thought it was evident. My bad.

I was most bullish about us beating Geelong and even wanting to play Geelong in the first round of finals and you thought they were a side to avoid...

i stand by the gif tho...

  • REPORT: Brisbane

“Max Gawn has been the heart and soul of the Dees for years now, but this recent recovery from a terrible start has been driven by him. He was everywhere again, and with the game in the balance, he took several key marks to keep the ball in the Dees forward half.” - The Monday Knee Jerk Reaction: Round Ten Of course, it wasn’t the efforts of one man that caused this monumental upset, but rather the work of the coach and his assistants and the other 22 players who took the ground, notably the likes of Jake Melksham, Christian Petracca, Clayton Oliver and Kozzie Pickett but Max has been magnificent in taking ownership of his team and its welfare under the fire of a calamitous 0-5 start to the season. On Sunday, he provided the leadership that was needed to face up to the reigning premier and top of the ladder Brisbane Lions on their home turf and to prevail after a slow start, during which the hosts led by as much as 24 points in the second quarter. Titus O’Reily is normally comedic in his descriptions of the football but this time, he was being deadly serious. The Demons have come from a long way back and, although they still sit in the bottom third of the AFL pack, there’s a light at the end of the tunnel as they look to drive home the momentum inspired in the past four or five weeks by Max the Magnificent who was under such great pressure in those dark, early days of the season.

  • CASEY: Southport

The Southport Sharks came to Casey. They saw and they conquered a team with 16 AFL-listed players who, for the most part, wasted their time on the ground and failed to earn their keep. For the first half, the Sharks were kept in the game by the Demons’ poor use of the football, it’s disposal getting worse the closer the team got to its own goal and moreover, it got worse as the game progressed. Make no mistake, Casey was far and away the better team in the first half, it was winning the ruck duels through Tom Campbell’s solid performance but it was the scoreboard that told the story.

  • PREGAME: Sydney

Just a game and percentage outside the Top 8, the Demons return to Melbourne to face the Sydney Swans at the MCG, with a golden opportunity to build on the momentum from toppling the reigning premiers on their own turf. Who comes in, and who makes way?
