I posted just before in the "Embarrassing Records" thread that it's time we started a thread for positive records being broken.

For example, yesterday's win means we have defeated teams by greater than 90 points three times this season. That's a first. Ever.

Our first quarter score was the highest in something like 40 years (someone will know).

Anyway, you get the drift. Please add.

I count 14 players that have reached double figures in goals this year. I don’t know if that’s a record but it’s a nice stat nonetheless.

Gone are the days of Dawes winning the leading goalkicker award with 20 for the year.

I think we donned about ten in the first quarter v north when Brian Dixon was coach of roos.  About 1971.

Some individual statscourtesy of afltables.com

Clayton Oliver is on target to top our 'most in a season' for posessions and contested posessions and may also sneak to top for most tackles... surpassing... Clayton Oliver!  Also needs 24 more clearances in 3 games to scratch Brent Moloney off the top.

Max Gawn also on target to pass himself for most hitouts in a season.

Oscar McDonald needs 31 more 1%ers to make top 5, and in the process make our entire top-5 either himself or Tom.

Four players this season are in our top-20 all-time for goal assists in a season; Neal-Bullen, Petracca, Oliver, and Melksham, who is averaging a staggering 1.5 a game. And if you want to know about consistency, well, he hasn't had more than 2 in a game.

So what you're telling me is that this is pretty much the best Melbourne team of all time?

Despite missing last week Melksham is still topping score assists. Can’t imagine the last time that happened if he maintains it for the year.

We need to beat Sydney this week to collect a full set of wins against all 18 teams since the competition became an 18 team competition.

I wonder when (if) we a) last beat all teams at least once in the same season and b) last won our most recent match against all teams.

The one l remember because l happened to be there, and it was at Arden street against North Melb who were a lowly side. Year 1972  kicking towards the city end won the toss. The  breeze worth 5 to 6 goals we thought. The Dees kicked 11.  7.  73 pts    to 0.2.2 in the opening quarter. We won by 108 points.  North finished on the bottom with one win that year.

I think a hefty bag of three goals in the final round propelled Dawes to that significant milestone.

Amazingly, I also recall that Dom Tyson was runner up that year with 16 or 17. Wasn't our finest year in regards to scoring.

One doesn’t need a huge bag of goals to win a flag: IIRC our last flag was won with our rover, John Townsend kicking 35 to win our goal kicking.

The top forward got I think 25 or so (Vagg will remember surely).

The captain just negged the rare positive thread on here.

Well, you are basing that assertion on 50+ year old stats. Not sure too many teams will win a flag with a top goal scorer only getting 35.

John Townsend. My PE teacher at a private school in Heyington that rhymes with St Kevin’s. Nice bloke. If I’d known how famous he was at the time I would have climbed that damn rope! Bloke called Morewood in my year, I wander what he went on to do? Good player at school

Our 6th highest points for ever, and highest since 2000.

And our lowest points against since 1968, and third leader points ever (1932 was the other).

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
