It hasn't been mentioned, but I thought the Crows lacked class by not acknowledging Lewis' career post game.  Most clubs celebrate a 300 game champion as he's chaired off, but not the Crows.  Nowhere to be seen.

But that's what you get with a soulless cheeseburger corporation.

The Crows formed a guard of honour for Lewis as he was chaired off.

Did anyone else see the footage of Jones revving up the team at the 3/4 time break?  He didn't wait for the coaches to arrive, just got players together for what looked like an impassioned pep talk.  They didn't let him or themselves down and fought it out to the very last moment.

Jones had a poor first half but that footage showed what he brings to the team.   For someone whose leadership on field is often questioned that pep talk showed good leadership by him

And that's what he should be doing anyway, he's the captain, we should not applaud it and instead demand it every week. He was putrid last night make no mistake, cheap 1m handballs is his thing now and costly turnover kicks. He's either NQR and carrying an injury or the game has quickly caught up with him. To his credit, I did like the way he scrapped in the last and bottled things up. Goodwin playing him as the inside mid in the last was smarter, he can't play the outside game, he's too slow, our midfield however looks so much better with Oliver, Brayshaw, Petracca and even Salem when in there.

You couldn’t see it via the TV broadcast but the Crows players and staff did line up opposite our players when Lewis was chaired off. I thought the same thing until I saw the below Instagram post.

Thanks Ethan.  For the life of me I couldn't see it on the coverage.  I'll edit my post.

They're still a soulless cheeseburger club though.

Crows were waiting at the Melbourne race for several minutes while our boys handed out balls and high fived the crowd. They formed a guard of honor and clapped him off.

Plenty of respect shown by AFC.

Or it might not have been. Are you that confident they’d have been able to kick another goal out of the middle with a minute to go, given how scrappy and lengthy the contests had been?

Anything's possible with the MFC!

People banging on about almost blowing the lead in the last quarter, sure it was raining but weren't they kicking with a 5 goal breeze.

Thanks ET.

Loved the sight of his little boy clapping his dad.  And heartwarming to see Melksham and Petracca indulging the little guy.

Reminded me of this precious moment, when Brayshaw carried Cross' young lad

No mention of that by the commentators. (Why am I surprised?)

You've got to acknowledge how mentally tough you have to be to play at the highest level. And we are merely armchair experts. In the last quarter I was watching the game and groaning uncontrollably like an imbecile. The family moved to another room (I'm assuming it was the groaning and the array of idiosyncrasies when the pressure gets too much)

I have avoided watching Goodwin's post-match press conference recently so I don't know if the AFL has finally acted like the professional body it claims to be and actually made it possible to hear the questions asked by the journos.  Last night not only could you hear the questions, but there was also split screen video of the questioner and coach.  Is this now happening all the time, or is it just in Adelaide?

Yes it's much better Sue.

I was expecting Leigh Montagna to jump the fence and kick the winning goal.

Hahaha. Oh god. I totally relate to that. Talk about moments that burn in to one’s psyche.

I wouldn’t have backed Adelaide to get it done if Betts had kicked the goal. I accept they might have, but I wouldn’t be that sure. Matt Crouch ain’t Paddy Dangerfield, Tex ain’t the Tomahawk and Kyle Cheney ain’t Zach Tuohy.

Channel 7 always show the questioner. You're just not used to us being on 7.

That miss by Betts could be the difference between us playing finals or not.

Huge let off.

Silly way to think. Tuohy kicking last week's goal could be the difference. Or Westhoff's 75m 50m penalty in the fourth, or the mark that wasn't paid to Brayshaw against Port.

Luck goes both ways, we've had some for us and some against us.

Hey, if only the 7000 tiny things that didn’t go our way so far this year actually did, we’d probably be 18-0 with a percentage of 300.

I thought we were ordinary. In particular, the number of sloppy missed tackles was huge, and we got by on the back of one ripper quarter.

In saying that, it made the win even sweeter. After dominating games against the likes of Port and Geelong, and getting nothing, it was great to grind out a win against a decent side in enemy territory.

Richmond won a flag on the back of playing one good quarter every week. This year they are especially dominant in the 4th. We stuck at it and kept pushing on the back of a pretty average first half.

Correct, I look at video on the AFL/MFC website.  I just checked and the audio was good there today (though no split screen with journo and coach).  I'm hoping that means the audio will be OK in future on the web.

The ferocity at which Brayshaw attacks the ball and the man is so pleasing considering his injury history.

McGovern's shoulder will be sore this morning, pivotal contest and lesser players might not have gone as hard. We really have a ripper in Gus.

Secondly, credit to Dom Tyson. Thought he was magnificent last night and was central to our 3rd quarter blitz.

Up the Dees!

It’s so great to see! I really feel like he’s back to that first year where he was just a total animal at contests. I never would have blamed him for going into his shell slightly after the history he’s had.

Tyson played his part. A decent 100th

    GALLANT by KC from Casey

The world “gallant” is not one that is readily acceptable to losing teams in our game of football so when it was used in the context of the Casey Demons’ loss to Sandringham in yesterday’s match at Casey Fields, it left a bitter taste in the mouth.  The Demons went into the game against the St Kilda affiliated Zebras with the advantage of playing on their home turf (not that this has been a major asset in 2024) and with very little else going in their favour. The Saints have close to a full

    MEANWHILE by Whispering Jack

… meanwhile, at about the same time that Narrm was putting its feet on the accelerator to obliterate the long-suffering Euro-Yroke combination, I heard someone mention in passing that Kuwarna was leading Waalitj Marawar by a whopping 46 to 1 halfway through the second quarter of their game over in Adelaide. “What is football coming to?” I asked myself.  In front of my eyes, the Demons were smashing it through the midfield, forcing turnovers and getting the footy to their forwards who w

HEAVEN OR HELL by The Oracle

Clashes between Melbourne and St Kilda are often described as battles between the forces of heaven and hell. However, based on recent performances, it’s hard to get excited about the forthcoming match between these two sides. It would be fair to say that, at the moment, both of these teams are in the doldrums. The Demons have become the competition’s slow starters while the Saints are not only slow to begin, they’re not doing much of a job finishing off their games either. About the only th
