Zac Jones could easily be out for a couple of weeks after that late bump there.

Swans start 0-6 last year and miraculously make the finals, this year they could go 0-6 to finish the year and sensationally miss.

Looks like last year the Band Aids got them home....

Should go for two for that, but Merrett should get one for the staging from the one at first bounce.

Wtf is wrong with Swans ? ?

They are finished, thats whats wrong with them.

Hurley and Stringer laughing on the bench with 1 min to go despite not being in the 8. Makes me sick.

And yet the press focus on Bernie smiling with Danger....

The way Sydney is playing, we are every chance to beat them in a fortnight.

Tomorrow night is huge for us, now. A clear opportunity to win the next three is open to us if we apply ourselves.

With Sydney's downturn in form, this draw is opening up for us slightly. Win tomorrow and we're still in it up to our necks.

I was going to mention it today but thought I'd let it play out.

There for the taking if we really want it. Could really put the pressure on the Powa if we win tommorow night.

Yes, finals are there for the taking for us. Ours to [censored] up really.

Certainly if we can keep on winning anything is possible.

We had our fate in our hands last year and fluffed it: the players keep on about being gutted,  so they had better bloody well show it for the next 2 ½ months !

Need Port and GWS to have shockers.

C'mon Dees, win this weekend!

Our result is obviously most important, but wins to the Dogs, St Kilda and Fremantle (vs Hawthorn) are all huge for us.

If we win and Collingwood lose to Richmond, then we'll be a game off third. We'll go past Sydney (and will have a 15-20% buffer on them, too) and we'll remain a game and percentage clear of Essendon (and North, if they win). We could also move up further if GWS or Port lose.

In the ridiculous fantasy dream world, we win and each of GWS, Port, Hawthorn, Geelong and North lose. Then we're in the top 4 and we're a game and percentage clear of 9th with 4 games left. Probably somewhere around 0.0000000001%

If we lose, we'll be level on points with Essendon and Adelaide (and North, if they win). We'll drop below Geelong and Hawthorn assuming they win, and be out of the 8 if both win.

The impact of just one game is insanely high.

Most awkward TV of the week

Can’t stand it, the most cringeworthy thing on tv

We need to hit form and win 4 of the remaining games. No reason why we can't. Have shown the ability, just need to bloody well do it!

Must rate, otherwise why would stupid 7 do it?

It's mindless and dumb. Thanks 7

Wouldn't that be nice?  Having a finals spot wrapped up with two games remaining and be pushing for top 4.

Perhaps finally we will deliver.

I know Zak Jones was quite a nuffy today, but i'd still take him for his pace and contested work - And being trade out of Sydney would be a wake up call to pull his head in. I have to wonder if he has lowered his trade value tonight and we could get in on the cheaper (than before). For eg a sydney fans over the top response: "I’m sick of this [censored]. He’s fast becoming a liability and yeah, not worth it. Would gladly give him away, [censored] a trade."

Liking my bet on swans not making finals now.

I’ll support you binman by cheering on the filth next week against the Swans in Sydney, just don’t tell anyone please.

Obviously we’re going to keep a close eye on the competition but the club internally should only focus on themselves.

It’s laid out in front of us and it’s uo to us to make the most of the opportunities available to us. Every game is winnable, just as every game is losable (GC beating Sydney proved that).

  • PREVIEW: North Melbourne

Can you believe it? After a long period of years over which Melbourne has dominated in matches against North Melbourne, the Demons are looking down the barrel at two defeats at the hands of the Kangaroos in the same season. And if that eventuates, it will come hot on the heels of an identical result against the Gold Coast Suns. How have the might fallen? There is a slight difference in that North Melbourne are not yet in the same place as Gold Coast. Like Melbourne, they are currently situated in the lower half of the ladder and though they did achieve a significant upset when the teams met earlier in the season, their subsequent form has been equally unimpressive and inconsistent.

  • REPORT: Adelaide

The atmosphere at the Melbourne Football Club at the beginning of the season was aspirational following an injury-plagued year in 2024. Coach Simon Goodwin had lofty expectations with the return of key players, the anticipated improvement from a maturing group with a few years of experience under their belts, and some exceptional young talent also joining the ranks. All of that went by the wayside as the team failed to click into action early on. It rallied briefly with a new strategy but has fallen again with five more  consecutive defeats.

  • CASEY: Coburg

The Casey Demons returned to their home ground which was once a graveyard for opposing teams but they managed to gift the four points on offer to Coburg with yet another of their trademark displays of inaccuracy in front of goals and some undisciplined football that earned the displeasure of the umpires late in the game. The home team was welcomed by a small crowd at Casey Fields and looked right at home as it dominated the first three quarters and led for all bar the last five minutes of the game. In the end, they came away with nothing, despite winning everywhere but on the scoreboard and the free kick count.

  • PREGAME: Rd 18 vs North Melbourne

After four weeks on the road the Demons make their long awaited return to the MCG next Sunday to play in a classic late season dead rubber against the North Melbourne Kangaroos. Who comes in and who comes out?

  • POSTGAME: Rd 17 vs Adelaide

The Demons were wasteful early before putting the foot down early in the 2nd quarter but they chased tail for the remainder of the match. They could not get their first use of the footy after half time and when they did poor skills, execution and decision making let them down.
