Agree Wiseblood and I think we are capable, especially when our confidence is high. That 3rd quarter last week. We can take teams apart for short periods. Hope we can bring it for the entire game, control the momentum, defend when they have it and put goals on when we get it.

We have some opportunities to get those scalps in the next 5-6 weeks.

Having a look at the round one teams, there have been major changes to both sides.

For the Cats

Ins - Danger, Stanley, Cunico, Henry, S Selwood, Narkle, Jones, Henderson

Outs - Taylor, Gregson, Ratagolea, Parsons, Smith, O’Connor, Fogarty, Zac Guthrie

For us,

Ins - Tmac, Brayshaw, Tyson, Frost, Spargo, JKH, J Smith

Outs - Hannan, Hibberd, Lever, Maynard, Wagner, Hunt, Pedo

Neither team has a significantly better or worse side, especially considering Lever had a shocker and Ratagolea played a great game.

There are similarities, but only Rooney is in that class. Ricky was twice as good - great little rover with pace to burn and very nice around the goals. Still, Spargo has the elements to get to that level in the not too distant future. Spargo has not roved too often to Gawn whereas Jackson had Dwyer in the main and those two worked well.

Id say our ins are more significant, the only one for them of note is Danger which is a big in the rest are all a wash, but  our ins of Mcdonald, Brayshaw (on current form) more than out weigh our bigger outs of Hibberd and Lever (especially considering his form at the time). Even the lesser ins of Tyson and Spargo are an upgrade on the other outs, Hunt is debatable but also wasn't playing well at the time either.

I think we are a much better side than the Cats and think we are a huge chance, in large part because the ground suits us. Let's hope the umpires don't play a role in this game.

Geelong have conceded i think the second least points scored against. Fast movement into the forward line is a must or their defence will just pick off intercept marks all night. Henderson is a big in for them. Hopefully it takes a bit for the cohesion to return.

Tyson is the slowest player in a relatively very slow midfield. Has poor skills ATM due to a lack of confindense at the top level. Rest assured he will be caught holding the ball at least twice tomorrow. both parties should be looking to move him on next year.

So rather than playing him inside you would rather him on the wing again? 

What I'm trying to get at is if we play him in his best position he has more of a chance of being a positive for the team. If played at the coal face it means oliver brayshaw and petracca when in there can play a more attacking game.

It also saves moving say a salem into more midfield minutes as he has found a nice bit of form in his current role. 

I think most teams would love to have tyson come in if they lost an inside midfielder through injury.

If tyson is played in his best position and plays poorly, I will change my perspective on this matter. I just think hes been played out of position and is not good enough in any other role. When viney comes back i cant see tyson getting a game. If we play him and he does well, he can either back himself in to regain his spot next year or he increases his trade value, which at the moment is lower than his worth to the team.

Our structures are very different to round one.

Tom McDonald didn't play (nor did Viney - again), Brayshaw didn't play, Salem wasn't being played in defence, etc.

Both teams are now very different.  Round 1 is irrelevant for both teams.

Oliver, Brayshaw and Petracca are above average in the pace department for big bodied mids. 

Frost and Smith are above average, while Salem and Jetta are fine. 

Melksham and Harmes are above average, as are Garlett and Spargo.  Fritsch is also fine, as is Jones.

We know the small handfull who lack pace.  If you're winning the contest and spreading it's amazing how quick you can look.

Who's Geelong's outside star that regularly cuts up the opposition ?  Like us, they don't have one.

As for balance ?  We've got the best ruck of the two teams.  We have two dangerous key forwards to their one.  We're playing two tall defenders, plus the 191cm Smith, which looks fine to me.  It's not our best personnel, but we're talking 'balance' here. 

We have two small quick crumbers up forward.  We've got 'one on one' midsize strength with Melksham and perhaps Petracca or Fritsch.

Where is their superior 'balance' you speak of ?  Btw, they have 8 players under 50 games to our 4.

As for their "precise footskills' ?  This is a furphy.  The reason Adelaide beat them last week is because they butchered the ball by foot out of their defence.

We may lose this game (I think we'll win), but it won't be because we're slow or they have better balance.

Look, myself and I'm sure many others on this site have seen many games at all levels of football where the lesser favoured side has upset the favourite because they wanted it more. It's time for us to seize the opportunity and announce ourselves. It's not as though the match is a Tigers v Blues equivalent. They're not that good if the attitude is there we can do it.

Does anyone know if the team gets a bus down to Geelong or if players drive themselves down?  

Completely unimportant, but was just curious.  I assume a team bus isn't really needed as its not that far of a drive.

I reckon we'll go ok, we have a big bodied combative midfield that can take it up to their "superstars" (who actually aren't living up to expectations this season). As long as we don't continually bomb it to their intercept defenders as we did in round 1 (Tom Stewart killed us), we have every chance to get the win.

We can expose Henderson who's had 3 surgeries on his knee since October last year, have Hogan or Tmac run him around up the ground until he's exhausted

Just as he states, Diverfield was supposed to be on the show “The Front Bar” but Molloy said he had pulled out on the day as he was sick. 

I’d imagine if he had the slightest of “colds” coming on he would pull the pin, the to and from Moggs Creek is a long one with the sniffles.

The waves down here on the Surfcoast were pumping on Thursday and yesterday. That's where Dangers would have been.
