It's not just the team sheet. He does line up on the wing a lot usually at the start of the quarters. Presumably this is to throw off the match ups of other teams for a bit.

Semantics really. He is the best forward we have got, and if Goodwin chooses to use him differently then he won’t have a job for long!!

It's genius eh..

I mean...no one ever expects him to then line up at Half Forward !!

The MFC brains trust in fine fettle ???

I'd be laughing as the oppo coach....well that's one less to worry about in the arc. Rebounding"s easier.. win-win..for them !!

Let's keep footy simple, Simon ;)

Put him where he is doing the most damage - and that would surely be booting goals.

When we interviewed Roosy he seemed baffled by the move and wondered why you wouldn't play someone where they are best suited and most damaging.

Yep quite a few times this year he has basically said WTF demons about how we are playing particullay the ease teams score against us.

He spent 3 years with a defense first mindset now we so easy to score against

The reality of the old 6 backs, 2 wings, 4 in the middle and 6 forwards is only for the papers now.

Besides the ruck and 3 mids and that's only at the starting bounce - the game is made up of 2-8 backs or forwards (depending on where the ball is and state of the game) and everyone else is a either a stoppage mid or back only 15-20 meters from that stoppage.

Just another example of Goodwin being too clever for his own good. Next we'll probably see Oliver playing full back to stop him being tagged.

Not going to win anything playing him on the Wing. Goody would have to have rocks in his head to play him on the wing for long periods of a game again.

85-90% as a powerhouse forward.

Is having Bayley Fritsch roaming across half back, a wing and half forward another example of Goodwin being too clever for his own good, or proof that the bloke is willing to try and utilise the players in a way that makes our side better?  Oliver at full forward last week was another master stroke.  You think you're being funny with your above comment, but it simply makes you look like someone who is childish enough to make generalisations about the game and nothing more.

Tom McDonald might spend 5-10% of his time on a wing.  It's nothing.  If it keeps the opposition guessing and allows us to play a fluid and flexible forward line then I'm all for it.  No one was complaining when we were doing it during our winning streak, either.

But they needn't guess....as soon as the ball starts flying back from our arc because the clunking half forward that's supposed to be there isn't...then he'll (TM) be repositioned properly

What's the bet ?

( No guessing required )

In answer to original Question Um  NARRRRRRRRRRR!

Opening 40 seconds of 1st Quarter...??

Thoughts on TMac playing on a wing?

Yeah he plays mostly up forward but what do you think about him moonlighting on a wing at the start of quarters?

Stupid.

Should always be forward!

CHF is where he should be with Hogan at FF. End of argument.

Team sheets are mostly [censored] outside of midfielders and key position players.

A difference to the nonsensical team sheet...in our instance, is that Tom has actually started games....on the wing. Still nonsense for mine.

  • NON-MFC: Round 06

The Easter Round kicks off in style with a Thursday night showdown between Brisbane and Collingwood, as both sides look to solidify their spots inside the Top 4 early in the season. Good Friday brings a double-header, with Carlton out to claim consecutive wins when they face the struggling Kangaroos, while later that night the Eagles host the Bombers in Perth, still chasing their first victory of the year. Saturday features another marquee clash as the resurgent Crows look to rebound from back-to-back losses against a formidable GWS outfit. That evening, all eyes will be on Marvel Stadium where Damien Hardwick returns to face his old side—the Tigers—coaching the Suns at a ground he's never hidden his disdain for. Sunday offers two crucial contests where the prize is keeping touch with the Top 8. First, Sydney and Port Adelaide go head-to-head, followed by a fierce battle between the Bulldogs and the Saints. Then, Easter Monday delivers the traditional clash between two bitter rivals, both desperate for a win to stay in touch with the top end of the ladder. Who are you tipping this week and what are the best results for the Demons?

  • REPORT: Essendon

What were they thinking? I mean by “they” the coaching panel and team selectors who chose the team to play against an opponent who, like Melbourne, had made a poor start to the season and who they appeared perfectly capable of beating in what was possibly the last chance to turn the season around. It’s no secret that the Demons’ forward line is totally dysfunctional, having opened the season barely able to average sixty points per game which means there has been no semblance of any system from the team going forward into attack. Nevertheless, on Saturday night at the Adelaide Oval in one of the Gather Round showcase games, Melbourne, with Max Gawn dominating the hit outs against a depleted Essendon ruck resulting from Nick Bryan’s early exit, finished just ahead in clearances won and found itself inside the 50 metre arc 51 times to 43. The end result was a final score that had the Bombers winning 15.6 (96) to 8.9 (57). On balance, one could expect this to result in a two or three goal win, but in this case, it translated into a six and a half goal defeat because they only managed to convert eight times or 11.68% of their entries. The Bombers more than doubled that. On Thursday night at the same ground, the losing team Adelaide managed to score 100 points from almost the same number of times inside 50.
