I wish we tried JKH as small lock down defender, Neville backup / successor.  He is clean, competitive, agile and a neat kick.  It's his best chance of making it at AFL level. I know we're trying Dion there with some success.

I liked Machaya, clean and competitive.

Flash Gordon - oh boy - horrible.

Definitely worth trialling. Do it for a quarter a game for a month and see how it works.

I have said before that it surprises me that we are not more experimental at VFL level.

JKH is 173cm compared to Nev who stands at 180cm. The height difference might not sound much but at the highest level, it might be too much.

agree Fif-5,,, Re JK-H

I've been thinking that as well recently, Re JK-H, as he seems to get where the ball is,,,  and is a good willing tackler.   But I don't think he'll make it in our Mids group, with his speed.  We have too may without pace already in our Mid rotations.

I've been concerned about Nev in recent weeks, with the Hits he's copped.

JK-H could be an option as cover.?

Yes it's a good point and Nev can fly too.  It could be a show stopper.

Dion is 179cm.

Vander's first game back was noteworthy.  The conditions might have suited him but the intensity,  attack at the contest and effort was first rate.  Nice to see he hasn't stopped taking the angry pills also.

JKH easily the best finisher and got to the right places on many occasions reading the play well.  As long as he's playing a role mostly close to goal I wouldn't mind seeing him given a stint in place of  Spargo or Jeffy if the window opens at some point.  Would be interesting to see how he handles the step up.

Yep, this has been an opposition strategy for a few weeks now - belting Nev heavily, more than once per game. It is a credit to him to keep fighting back for the intercept, the ball and the clearance. I was surprised that Razor didn't pick this up at all against Freo, and thus provide Nev with some 'umpire interference', such as a free kick or two when his head was wrenched off.

It’s great to hear VB’s name mentioned in a game rather than just an injury report.

Will be great once he plays in the seniors again.

Hopefully sooner rather than later.

I thought Vanders was a cut above, bollocking through packs and getting amongst it.  I really like what I saw from 3 quarters of footy.  There is definitely a place in the big game for him if he keeps this up.

interesting to see Pat Mac get a go in better conditions.  Hoping he brings speed and smarts.

I think if Vanders throws up big numbers in the next two weeks and shows he still has some pace he might shake it up abit!

Lets not overdo it; he needs to get some more work into him in the lower intensity, to give his body time to adjust to playing again. bring him up we might break his body again.

If he keeps playing like this weekend; then I'd renew his contract for a further year, off the bat... to give him the time and the security to allow himself the time to come back steadily.

If he continues with this brand, I can then see him possibly being that other bid inside mid??? which I've been pushing for.

Now for Sloane.!

It appears that the team spirit is really good at Casey - plenty of AFL listed players and they all seem to be pulling in the same direction.  It really showed in a tough uncompromising effort.  Tyson, Pedo, Bugg, JKH, Weid, Hannan, Kent, Balic, Wagner - all going hard despite probably being disappointed to not be playing AFL.  It's a credit to Jade Rawlings.

Just an update on Keilty, his head was fine he actually got pulled out with symptoms of hypothermia. At half time he took off all his wet gear but went blue and couldn’t stop shaking so they put him in the shower and wrapped him up, goes to show what horrible conditions it was to play in today.

Same conditions at Beechworth.

The boys and girls on netball courts were spectacular.

Not sure if hypothermia identified but certainly would have been a close thing.

Glad to be watching and not playing. I did stay outside and not retreat to the pavilion tho.

Thanks for report Drunkn. It's great to have your insight. Thought your preview was excellent.
