OK dude, I did the best I could, posting in the car, at the lights, listening on my phone, near enough for me. I posted the audio in the other thread.

I would just like to point out that Demonland bears no responsibility for accidents cause by posting while driving. Do not mix Demonland with drugs or alcohol and do not operate heavy machinery whilst using Demonland. You have been warned.

You might also want to distance Demonland from anyone being fined while using a device in a car.

Good job Glen, if they can get this over the line (Jolimont option) it will be the biggest thing that has happened to the club (feels like we keep saying that), man I can't stand Watson.

Speaking of Tim, it's something I've noticed a lot lately, but what is with his hatred towards Melbourne?

I reckon you can read whatever you want - harmony or disharmony - into that story. That the three internal candidates attended (harmony), Mahony took a later flight to Adelaide (harmony), "concerns key staff have harboured for the past week" (disharmony); the role Jackson did or did not play (disharmony). All in all, it's really just a puff piece presumably put out by the club to at least suggest harmony, whether it's true or not.

Jackson is retiring, changes happen.

If all the candidates rolled up for a meet and greet, that is a good sign.

Season is still up for grabs.

Another leak from the club?

Tom Morris has 'leaked' quite a few things from mfc in recent months and he was dropped from hosting the club podcast.

But in this case I doubt it was a leak.  I think the club would be happy to have this out there to counterbalance the negative commentary around Pert's appointment.  With all the staff involved, the meeting would not have stayed quiet for long.  A good move by the club to get everyone together.

And, Pert's comments about not coming in to change what Jackson, Roos and Mahoney have achieved would go some way towards soothing worried staff.   I like that the club had the staff 'meet and greet' prior to any press conference.  It would also be reassuring to staff that Jackson will see out his contract.

I thought Bartlett could have been a little more diplomatic than referring to Pert (an outsider) as the ""absolute standout candidate" given that the internal candidates were all current and valued employees. They would have been understandably disappointed to have missed the top job.  A little more empathy would not have gone astray.

Bartlett could have publicly praised all the candidates as worthy applicants whilst at the same time stating that Pert was the the Committees preferred candidate given his background, skills and experience, and the responsibilities of the position,

If Pert was the standout candidate, i have no issue. For so long the MFC has accepted the 2nd and 3rd best people all through the club.

Look at the difference Jason Taylor and PJ have made compared to their predecessors. Massive difference.

We need to keep that going. Those who didn’t get the position can either work with  Pert and help achieve greatness or find alternative jobs, if they must.

I hope they all stay and help achieve...

a bit glass half empty tonight, ernie?

you could easy take as a positive to the internal candidates, saying you guys were so good getting to the final 5 that it took a simply outstanding candidate with previous ceo skills to beat you. we don't know all that was said in the meeting but i'm sure the three candidates were rightly praised (as they should be)

sorry ernie, don't see the negatives

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
