Slobbo's Mid Year All Australian

Featured Replies

No Max.

Oliver and Hogan named on the bench.

ROBBO’S MID-YEAR ALL-AUSTRALIAN TEAM

BACKS: Rory Laird (Adel), Alex Rance (Rich), Tom Stewart (Geel)

HALF-BACKS: Shannon Hurn (WC), Jeremy McGovern (WC), James Sicily (Haw)

CENTRES: Tom Phillips (Coll), Jack Macrae (WB), Andrew Gaff (WC)

HALF-FORWARDS: Jack Darling (WC), Lance Franklin (Syd), Dustin Martin (Rich)

FORWARDS: Josh Caddy (Rich), Ben Brown (NM), Luke Breust (Haw)

RUCKS: Brodie Grundy (Coll), Nat Fyfe (Frem), Tom Mitchell (Haw)

INTERCHANGE: Clayton Oliver (Melb), Trent Cotchin (Rich), Patrick Cripps (Carl), Jesse Hogan (Melb)

We’d beat that team.

Grundy gets the nod, because Eddie thinks he'll win the Brownlow... and 9-10 Herald Sun readers are Collingwood supporters - the ones that actually still bother to go to a newsagent to buy a paper anymore.

No Neville Jetta either.  A complete outrage.

Gawn missing out is laughable.

So is Lance Franklin being in the team. Hogan would be just about first forward picked but hes on the bench.

Jetta robbed.

At least he didnt put an Essendon player in there...  im shocked he didnt.

Franklin hasn't even played half the season and Hogan is in much better form. Gawn is 3rd in AFLCA voting 10 votes ahead of Grundy. Rance at FB? He hasn't been that good especially early in the season.

Typical robbo no idea.

This is why I give zero [censored] for what these clowns say or write. Funniest part for me was the site owner putting up a headline with the word slobbo haha

Blatant attempt to attract attention and discussion. Gawn will be one of the first players picked.

Also, Martin is not having an All Australian year. In fact he’s arguably not even close to it.

Clueless, mind boggling selections. You could argue Max is having a better season than all 18 starters. Aaargh.....was a good day until now. He’s second favourite for the Brownlow for crying out loud.

Over to you on Monday Gawny!

They might revise this when Gawn spanks Grundy on QB.

Grundy has been great, but Gawn has been a monster.

My AA Team

B: Rory Laird, Oscar McDonald, Neville Jetta
HB: Christian Salem, Jake Lever, Michael Hibberd
C : Andrew Gaff, Jack Viney, Bayley Fritsch
HF: James Harmes, Jesse Hogan, Jake Melksham
F: Robbie Gray, Tom McDonald, Christian Petracca
Foll: Max Gawn, Angus Brayshaw, Clayton Oliver
I/C: Nathan Jones, Mitch Hannan, Alex Neal-Bullen, Charlie Spargo

Gawn is clearly the better tap ruck, but Grundy has been amazing this year. Not unreasonable for Robbo to pick him. Looking fwd to Monday. There can only be one. Tipping Gawn to smash him in the hitouts and cement his place as AA.

Slobbo is nothing more than a complete [censored]. What he thinks is utterly irrelevant.

Yup,  Max is now 2nd favorite for the Brownlow.. but thats not enough for Slobbo.

The guy knows nothing about footy.  I do not believe his brain can retain information. His learning ability is at simian level, perhaps worse.

He is an extremely low IQ individual.

Jordan Lewis stiff

Tim Smith is too, but it was either him or Jesse Hogan. I tossed a coin.

I find it amusing that those tasked with trying to maintain decorum around here  (i.e. the moderators) also refer to him as Slobbo.

Well played.

That is the first time I've ever seen decorum used in relation to Demonland

Other than Franklin due to  the number of games missed, and Martin who is just in on rep you could make an argument for all those named, at least he didn’t stack it full of midfielders.

Melksham wouldn’t be far off getting in that team in place of Dusty and this coming game will decide the Gawn v Grundy debate, Jetta also would be close

I don't particularly like Slobbo and his Top 50 at the start of the year was so wrong it was laughable, but that's a pretty good side he's named and although Gawn and Nev were a bit unlucky the players in the side in Grundy and Laird are really good players.

Six wins in a row against opposition that have rolled over very easily each time after losses to teams that bought genuine heat does not a season make. We have plenty more tests ahead before we can think ourselves the best in the league. We are playing well as a team and sharing the load.

Celebrate especially Oliver at 20 making the team and the recognition for Hogan delivering on his promise and making the Slobbo version for the first time.

Also Tom McDonald would probably be close to Ben Brown as would Nev to Laird.

I did also laugh at the (DL) publically accepted term “slobbo”

No, that’s the point. There doesn’t have to be just one. They’ve picked two ruckmen in the past. It’s rare, but it can happen. Gawn and Grundy on form would be amongst the top five players in the league right now. It’s stupid omitting one of them.

Grundy is racking up midfield numbers and deserves a bench position. As far as key indicators for a ruckman are concerned, Gawn is a pretty clear first choice.

  • REPORT: St. Kilda

One of the big stories of the AFL off-season was the spending spree of Melbourne’s Round 1 opponent, St Kilda. They splashed out heavily, first to retain Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera - the hero of last year’s epic come-from-behind miracle victory -turning him into a $2 million man. They then effectively took out an expensive overdraft to recruit a string of expensive players from other clubs. It was a risky investment strategy and, although it’s still early days, it certainly failed to pay off in Sunday’s season opener, with much of the glitter turning to fool’s gold.
