What's to brag about? Paris is a toilet of a city. Literally. There is dog crap everywhere. I mean everywhere.

Then there are the people... worse than the crap.

Themโ€™s fighting words.ย

Of all the things I love (wife, family, Demons, the order varies week by week) Paris is well intrenched. Yes, you have to watch the footpaths, but the beauty, the culture, the food, the history. And Parisians are unfairly maligned in my view. I would happily visit every year.

Off topic, sorry.

It's ok guys I'll take the credit for our turnaround.. My first daughter was born just after the Essendon game. Since then we've been on-song! She's the good luck charm ;)

Too true.ย  A poll on at what point in the game did you stop being anxious would be interesting.ย  In my case a few minutes into Q3 (which is a record since the 1960's).

I was on edge until we got to 140 points and I remembered that old saying in footy...."the first team to 140 points wins the game"

Only place Iโ€™ve travelled to that was worse was Nice.

So over rated, other than The Louvre and the catacombs, Eiffel Tower was ok. But seriously has nothing on places like Kyoto, Edinburgh, Lisboa, Corio... ha ha

Upon seeing how happy I am following our magnificent win, my wife responded with โ€œdonโ€™t go getting any ideas you silly old manโ€.ย

I didnโ€™t realise my happiness was that obvious! ?

I love Paris. The Parisians, and the French of the provinces.

Lovely, friendly, happy people.

No wonder you didn't like it, you went tourist route.

You have to get out into the backstreets, and the cafes, and provinces, to see the real French.ย  Not the western tourist spots.

Played almost the perfect game yesterday. How good was it to see all the players get around him after he kicked the last goal.ย

There was a great moment where Petracca was walking between Oliver and Brayshaw back to the middle with his arms draped around them - real team spirit with those young guys especially. They know they are building.

When we were up 31-0 in the first quarter.

The Bulldogs were up by that much on Friday night. No way was that the point my anxiety dropped off!

I tried to screen grab that but Bull Smith was in the way. Would have been a great โ€œv2โ€ of my previous avatar of a post game Brayshaw/Petracca hug from Gusโ€™ first game. Gee that feels like a long time ago.

Just to say, as someone who lives in Paris: I walk our dog most mornings in a local park. The only person there who isn't carrying dog-poo bags is ... me. (I figure it's good fertiliser?)

Paris is a bit like Oscar McDonald - you see what you want to see.

Sure does. And as you say, very different now!

Have to agree with that, I've spent a lot of time in Paris and if it wasn't for the Dees I'd live there, it is a wonderful city.

I've stood in plenty of Dog [censored] over the years in Melbourne but never in Paris.

And as you would know, not allย french are Parisians.

Did you go on one of those 24 countries in 24 days tours, is that really all you saw in Paris?

Geelong, 2010, prelim

Saint 2005, prelim

Fitzroy 1982, 6th place

Portย 2002, prelim

Saints 2009, runners up

Melbourne 2018, premiers

The thing I love most is that we seem to have finally developed a killer instinct like a shark that's got the scent of blood in the nostrils. I think it was Healy on On The Couch who said the mantra at the club is to step on the necks of the opposition. That's a ruthlessness I've never seen at the Demons in my time. We have developed a hard edge but have talent on every line to really dismantle sides and not just grind out wins.

All this positive press makes me uneasy and I want to see us do it over a long period but bloody hell it feels exciting like we could be on the cusp of something really special.
