Peedo stiff

bernie didn’t get daisy high so he’ll be fine

I agree Dubdee

I'd just play a brother who could shut Eddie down !

Don't all start screaming but I would give Max a rest and avoid the flight.

Pedo could come in and he and Bull could do the ruckwork.

They are also both capable of a goal while forward.

Max has done a ton of work and it is a long season.

I would also try and get Jeff in for this one as it should suit him perfectly. Maybe Bernie could have a rest for a week.

ah, bring in Sir Pedo !

Can someone tell me why the player dropped from last week would be made cary-over emergency this week?

Tyson was obviously dropped for performance reasons, yet he isn't given the opportunity to work on those areas the following week in the reserves.  And to add insult to injury, they (Casey) were playing an insipid team which would be the perfect chance for Tyson to work on his game.

I rarely criticise the coaching/selection/etc, but this decision is just plain poor.

Maybe Tyson was rested, ahead of this coming week?

i called it a month ago but petracca needs to sort his [censored] out. you can't have a guy in the fwd line who can't kick. what is he 4.12 for the season or something not to mention his on the full shots.

Agree this would be the perfect game to rest Gawn. If it is going to be slippery then Pedo would be the ideal replacement

It was slippery today, and Gawn was close to best on.

Byes are for resting. Preseason is for creating monsters like Gawn.

Sam Jacobs would slaughter the cannon fodder thrown at him, why would you want to give Adelaide a head start?

he's quick on his feet, agile, and he tackles well. can rebound as well.

Giraffes are not good in greasy conditions.

People we are playing in Alice Springs during the day not Darwin at night.

Mid to low 20's for most of the week. Sunday is 27 degrees with 25% humidity. It won't be slippery. It should be pretty similar conditions to the Brisbane game last week. Very similar conditions to what the players were playing and training in every day only a couple of months ago.

There's really no reason to pick different players based on the conditions.

Are Alice, fair enough.

PS:   We'll need more runners for that heat. more smalls?

That’s a crap idea. Max is the fittest he’s been for yonks and is dominating every game against all opponents. He’s loving it and he’s hungry to smash in every week. He’s getting enough chop-outs now.

The bye is in a few weeks time and he’ll get his rest then.

No, no PS!

Our midfield are all runners - of course. Our backline has runners and I'd expect Vince to be replaced by Hunt. Our forwards - well the 2 big guys in T Mc and Hoges are very good runners! As is ANB. Spargo, Melksham, Bull, Hannan, they are all in the side to chase and pressure and run!

If there's selection changes it's surely based on form not conditions.

I don't share that view as a concrete rule.

In adverse conditions i'd pick for those conditions.

I did think it was in Darwin this week.

But the Alice will be hot, so we need to protect for this game, and the match following.

I know Buggy isn’t Mr Popular but it’s a bit grim when he’s the one that kicks 5 goals to go along with 21 disposals and 9 tackles and he doesn’t rate a mention..

Maybe he will get a gig in the next couple of weeks...  we only have a short break on the return game from Darwin vs the Doggies.

Only an opinion but maybe it had something to do with Oliver’s broken finger suffered last week and surgery on Monday.

If there was a chance Oliver couldn’t come up Tyson would be the most logical replacement.

finally a post which makes sense.

That is why Pedo should come in. Another mature big body. It is not always about recent form but matching up on the opposition.

you do realise the bye is not far off

besides, the slightly warmer weather at the alice should be a tonic for him

if he is tiring and we are doing well we can park him in the square

Jacobs has done a ton of work too

We should break even on the fatigue bit and win on gawns superior rucking over pedo

Some Adelaide fans are saying Jacobs should be rested because Gawn will smash any ruckman they throw out there anyway.  Quite a surprisingly sensible lot compared to the Carlton fans from last week.  No way I'd rest Max, he's a huge part of why we are winning at the moment.  Apart from Steph Martin, who almost broke even, he has flogged every ruckman he has come up against.  Let him wait for the bye for a rest.

As much as I love Hunt and Garlett I can't see them taking anyone's spot after the Carlton match.

No way Bernie gets rubbed out either, there's no charge for a fair bump.  His shoulder was at head level but there was no contact with the head.  It was all in the hip.  More good luck than good management though I reckon.

Gee I enjoy a good shirtfront., or watching a good shirtfront I should say.  Kudos to Thomas for getting straight up and getting involved in the contest again.  It would have hurt.

  • REPORT: Richmond

The fans who turned up to the MCG for Melbourne’s Anzac Day Eve clash against Richmond would have been disappointed if they turned up to see a great spectacle. As much as this was a night for the 71,635 in attendance to commemorate heroes of the nation’s past wars, it was also a time for the Melbourne Football Club to consolidate upon its first win after a horrific start to the 2025 season. On this basis, despite the fact that it was an uninspiring and dour struggle for most of its 100 minutes, the night will be one for the fans to remember. They certainly got value out of the pre match activity honouring those who fought for their country. The MCG and the lights of the city as backdrop was made for nights such as these and, in my view, we received a more inspirational ceremony of Anzac culture than others both here and elsewhere around the country.

  • CASEY: Richmond

The match up of teams competing in our great Aussie game at its second highest level is a rarity for a work day Thursday morning but the blustery conditions that met the players at a windswept Casey Fields was something far more commonplace. They turned the opening stanza between the Casey Demons and a somewhat depleted Richmond VFL into a mess of fumbling unforced errors, spilt marks and wasted opportunities for both sides but they did set up a significant win for the home team which is exactly what transpired on this Anzac Day round opener. Casey opened up strong against the breeze with the first goal to Aidan Johnson, the Tigers quickly responded and the game degenerated into a defensive slog and the teams were level when the first siren sounded.

After five consecutive defeats, the Demons have now notched up back-to-back victories, comfortably accounting for the Tigers in the traditional ANZAC Eve clash. They surged to a commanding 44-point lead early in the final quarter before easing off the pedal, resting skipper Max Gawn and conceding the last four goals of the game to close out a solid 20-point win.
