He's in our best 22 and the coaches are happy with him.

Does he go around for 1 more year?

Why would we lose Hunt?

Yes. IIRC, Vince has said he would play at Casey and be a back up and do it for less money so he can stay connected to the afl.

A handy in if we got lots of injuries.

on last year's form? no. on this year's form thus far? yes. i'd prefer to wait until the end of our season to see how he's gone and if he has the legs to go around again nek year.

Last year he played while missing a toenail which impacted his ability to kick. Still a very handy player and lile another poster said he is prepared to play at Casey to stay on the list. Also agree we shouldnt lose someone like Hunt to keep him.

He’s been excellent since he came over. I’m struggling to answer, so far his season has been underrated imo. Dreaming I know, but it would be awesome to see Bernie hold up the Cup in his final game.

I thought this year would be his year at Casey, but considering he is playing as well as he is, I'd keep him. Whether that is on Melbourne's list or Casey's is the question.

When does he 100 games for the Dees? I'd like to se him clock that up.

I'm with Gorgoroth. If he's playing well and is happy to be a depth player, all good. It would depend on draft considerations etc

I agree with the 100 game thingy. Would be nice to see little Bernies running around in the future.

We will have plenty of players to delist this year. Not sure if we want to offload heaps given our compromised draft position.

9 games to go RM.

I'm not even sure he should be playing this year. He's a liability against good opposition.

Plus would be good for him to lead and develops the younger guys coming through Casey for a year

No.. shouldn't have even gotten a contract this year.

He’s had no trouble at all retaining his place in the side and he hasn’t had any injury woes. I’d say he’s playing better now than he did last year as well. At this stage I’d anticipate him still being on the list next year, but there’s still a lot of season to go yet. He’ll be the last player they offer a contract to and it will depend on what happens with everyone else, and he will understand that.

I love Bernie still. He instantly made us better in the Roos era, and while he’s not the dynamic player he was then, he still plays a tough brand of footy and still adds to the side. Looking forward to seeing him clock up his 100th MFC game later in the year.

Won't want a player like hunt seek opportunity at another club, Vince gets picked every week even when he has 12 disposals, and kills moment with a turnovers. seems like he is under no scrutiny at all rather hunt playing then Vince, Goodwin plays him because his his mate, hate it when he is taking kickouts, when he takes them we can't get out of our defensive 50, all Vince has got is a long kick.

Does Vince get another year?

My heart says yes.

Gut says no.

Head says wait another 4 months and see how things play out.

Probaby not,  but dependent on many variables... form,  cost,  whether we need to jettison salary cap to make a trade or renew contracts of current players.

Whether "Vince gets another year" or not surely has nothing to do with the illuminati of a footbaling website.

  • REPORT: West Coast

On a night of counting, Melbourne captain Max Gawn made sure that his contribution counted. He was at his best and superb in the the ruck from the very start of the election night game against the West Coast Eagles at Optus Stadium, but after watching his dominance of the first quarter and a half of the clash evaporate into nothing as the Eagles booted four goals in the last ten minutes of the opening half, he turned the game on its head, with a ruckman’s masterclass in the second half.  No superlatives would be sufficient to describe the enormity of the skipper’s performance starting with his 47 hit outs, a career-high 35 possessions (22 of them contested), nine clearances, 12 score involvements and, after messing up an attempt or two, finally capping off one of the greatest rucking performances of all time, with a goal of own in the final quarter not long after he delivered a right angled pass into the arms of Daniel Turner who also goaled from a pocket (will we ever know if the pass is what was intended). That was enough to overturn a 12 point deficit after the Eagles scored the first goal of the second half into a 29 point lead at the last break and a winning final quarter (at last) for the Demons who decided not to rest their champion ruckman at the end this time around.

  • POSTGAME: West Coast

Following a disastrous 0–5 start to the season, the Demons have now made it three wins in a row, cruising past a lacklustre West Coast side on their own turf. Skipper Max Gawn was once again at his dominant best, delivering another ruck masterclass to lead the way.
