I said it early in the week that this is the best side we have had since '98.

We are currently 5th and I truly believe we can go all the way with this side.

Hannan saved himself in the last quarter I thought he done nothing for 3 quarters.

IN: VINEY OUT: WEIDEMAN

In -      Viney

Out -   Vince (rest)

I like the Weid in the team. hes taking a key defender and allowing T Mac and Hogan to wreak havoc.

Can't see them switching a tall for a mid, Weid has allowed TMac and Hogan to roam while keeping some structure in the forward line. I think it's really helped with some of the mismatches that occurred in the last.

I'm in the Vince out for a rest, Viney in camp.

A good response from Harmes - he knew.

ANB similar but Viney is a clear upgrade for mine.

In: Viney

Out: Neal- Bullen

I think the Weide isn't needed T.Mac can play second ruck and Gawn can play more forward.

I am also in the Tyson for Viney, but resting Vince could be an option.

I think it’s there only option.

Goodwin talked up the Weed after the game and Viney won’t play ANB’s half forward role.

Tyson is an inside mid who has not been overly effective and still makes lots of mistakes

There's another option - give Viney another week. Why not? I'd rather err on the super cautious side.

Yep. It’s that simple.

I’d rather he come back to condition himself against Carlton at the G than against Adelaide in Alice Springs.

I think Goody said at the end of his presser that Viney would play next week.

Tyson hasn't been playing as an inside mid though, he played more as a defensive sweeper/mid today and I thought he was in our best half dozen in the first half, was much quieter in the second half but the ball barely went down there.

I think Vince is more of a chance to get dropped than Tyson.

Age is catching up with him.

After watching Goody's presser I think the Weid stays but Vince is in trouble, I would like to see Tyson stay I like him as a footballer.

That is just completely bizarre. Not only has tmac just come back from an injured foot but is playing well in the forward line while sometimes wandering out to the wing area. Gawn can play forward more is nonsensical because he is the best ruckman in the side so why play him forward more with tmac rucking ??????? I just don't get your argument.

Settle down.

OK I think the Weid stays I just know that T.Mac can play well as a second ruck and Gawn can play well as a second forward. The Weid hasn't grasped the second forward role yet but he has been quite good as the second ruck.

Viney will get 50 disposals that's how much he is above VFL level. Viney will be in next week the coach said so.

Even as an armchair coach it's hard to predict who will make way for Viney.

Let's be real, you are pretty stiff to get dropped after an 11 goal win. If Viney wasn't out there wouldn't be changes next week.

Happy with the current team, but Viney has to come back in.

  • REPORT: Geelong

I was disappointed to hear Goody say at his post match presser after the team’s 39 point defeat against Geelong that "we're getting high quality entry, just poor execution" because Melbourne’s problems extend far beyond that after its 0 - 4 start to the 2025 football season. There are clearly problems with poor execution, some of which were evident well before the current season and were in play when the Demons met the Cats in early May last year and beat them in a near top-of-the-table clash that saw both sides sitting comfortably in the top four after round eight. Since that game, the Demons’ performances have been positively Third World with only five wins in 19 games with a no longer majestic midfield and a dysfunctional forward line that has become too easy for opposing coaches to counter. This is an area of their game that is currently being played out as if they were all completely panic-stricken.

  • PREGAME: Essendon

Facing the very real and daunting prospect of starting the season with five straight losses, the Demons head to South Australia for the annual Gather Round, where they’ll take on the Bombers in search of their first win of the year. Who comes in, and who comes out?

  • NON-MFC: Round 04

Round 4 kicks off with a blockbuster on Thursday night as traditional rivals Collingwood and Carlton clash at the MCG, with the Magpies looking to assert themselves as early-season contenders and the Blues seeking their first win of the season. Saturday opens with Gold Coast hosting Adelaide, a key test for the Suns as they aim to back up their big win last week, while the Crows will be looking to keep their perfect record intact. Reigning wooden spooners Richmond have the daunting task of facing reigning premiers Brisbane at the ‘G and the Lions will be eager to reaffirm their premiership credentials after a patchy start. Saturday night sees North Melbourne take on Sydney at Marvel Stadium, with the Swans looking to build on their first win of the season last week against a rebuilding Roos outfit. Sunday’s action begins with GWS hosting West Coast at ENGIE Stadium, a game that could get ugly very early for the visitors. Port Adelaide vs St Kilda at Adelaide Oval looms as a interesting clash, with both clubs form being very hard to read. The round wraps up with Fremantle taking on the Western Bulldogs at Optus Stadium in what could be a fierce contest between two sides with top-eight ambitions. Who are you tipping this week and what are the best results for the Demons besides us winning?

  • POSTGAME: Geelong

The Demons have slumped to their worst start to a season since 2012, falling to 0–4 after a more spirited showing against the Cats at Kardinia Park. Despite the improved effort, they went down by 39 points, and the road ahead is looking increasingly grim.
