With the enormous inside 50 discrepancy though, we should have won by more. That’s not to detract from the positives but +40 inside 50s should result in more than +69 points.

Need to keep focused and take the same approach to Carlton and the G. We haven’t been +3 in the W-L ledger since 2011. A win next week puts us at 6-3.

Without having seen the first three quarters, I see we had kicked more behinds than goals - is there a relationship between this and the high inside 50s? My logic being a behind keeps the ball in our half and gives the opposition the ball, meaning more players at our end of the ground, therefore more chances for it to travel in and out of our 50. Whereby a goal takes the ball away from our 50.

It may be that the better scoring efficiency required to give a larger score margin may have actually resulted in a much lower i50 margin.

Fair enough, but means bugger all. Our wins with the exception of North have been against struggling sides. The test will come with likes of Adelaide, a rejuvenated Collingwood, West Coast, etc.

In this game, I saw the value of some of the players I have thought played poorly previously.

lever:  getting to contests and hitting unbelievable targets under pressure,

Lewis:  his vision and redistribution to help us change lanes was superb

Harmes:  a big game for the lad.

Our i50 count was incredible, but our ability to pile on scoreboard pressure was poor.  We smashed every facet of the game, and nearly kicked ourselves out of it.

building something interesting now.  Lets sharpen our skills against the blues and then set to work on more significant opposition from here.

Bloody shift work. I finished at 6am and stayed up to listen to the game, only to fall asleep at Q time and wake up to hear the end of game wrap up. Biggest win of the year and I missed it. Grrrrr! Anyone that can PM me a replay link will forever have me as their new best buddy.

I will disagree in part with DMMA, our ability around the ground to force them into turn overs and to rebound was very good.our clearances from the centre were good too. We butchered it going into 50 more times than we scored points and when it came out we got it back so I reckon it was more that use of the ball than the points giving more f50 entries.

That's part of it. 

They also defended deep with numbers and were pretty good at clearing it only to have it come back it in again and again. 

We dominated at the stoppages and contests and spread with a lot of confidence. 

Gold Coast lack Mids who can win the footy in close.

Don't get me wrong I like the kid, but until he rips a game apart like Robbie Gray, he needs to stop drinking his own bathwater, has a long way to go to be considered elite.  Teams win flags.

He was ok. The fact is ..........he is getting better. Omac used  to be a liability (which weid isnt) and now a solid defender. I feel Weid will be a very good frwd and we should stick with him.

Yeah it was the 'old wall' like in Junior footy.  We allowed them that short kickout confident we would win the next marking contest or the contested ball on the ground and back in it came.

Great win. The percentage boost now has put us up in the middle ranking of the group of rival teams battling for a finals spot. We have to repeat this against Carlton. 

Tmac was awesome and a lethal forward weapon.  Should become a permanent forward. When down back in the 2nd quarter he twice kicked to dangerous positions for turnovers. One rebounded for a goal. 

Nibbler was great. Much improved. Petracca needs a stint at Casey to make way for Viney. Weed did some good things but still a work in progress. Fritsch and Harmes budding ball magnets.

Yep, spot on. Yes some of our nom scoring i50s were down to poor kicks (as unfortunately is standard for us) but often they were beccause we were winning contested ball just outside 50 (as a result  of our high press) and banging it forward (as per team instruction) chaos style to a very crowded forward line.

Id love to see how many of those i50s were repeat entries

The emergence of Brayshaw as a crucial part of our midfield set up this year is further proof that Goodwin is the right man for the job and that he absolutely knows what he is doing.

We all couldn't believe that Gus missed the first few games, but those were given to him to find his feet and get some match practice into him.  When he came back we eased him in off the half back flank and then shifted him into the middle over the past three weeks.  It's been a slow burn but Gus has had his best 3 weeks of footy for the club and I firmly believe it's been down to how he has been managed to this point.  He's coming from a fair way back with the concussion issues and the club (and Gus) have done everything right in getting him to this point.

Long may it continue!

Weid is currently the poster boy for playing your role. Whilst he didnt get on the end,  our tall forwards and ruck kicked 9 goals and we had a massive inside 50 count. He gave off 4 goals from his small possession count. Once again I can't recall him getting beaten in the air or a liability in the centre bounce. His speed and territory coverage is vital to this (mentioned he and Hogan had covered the most kms to half time). If it ain't broke don't fix it.

Was at the game and his defensive running was very noticeable.

Lo and behold the defence is starting to click and we transitioned the ball really well.
Oscar looks very comfortable down back and Brayshaw finding his mojo is a real boost.
It was great to see the boys break open the game with their slick globetrotter-like hands and no look handballs. Confidence.
