Gotta wonder at what point acts like this, in the modern age, verge into the realm of assault territory? Brayshaw would be fully in his rights to press charges here. Off the ball, unprovoked, unable to defend himself, broken jaw and missing teeth. The fact it happened on a footy field shouldn't provide immunity for the perpetrator of the act. Commit the same act on the street and you're hauled before a magistrate with criminal charges.

Seems the AFL is a low unto themselves.

Your very short sighted Mickey.

NJones is perfect for the role as the reasons stated.  His Discipline crucial.     Dew is there now as coach.  Swans disciplines.

Zac Jones would be there in support of his brother,, helping nJ change the culture at ground level.   While Dewy does his thing from above the List.

From a neutral point of view I say what you’re saying clearly.

From our point of view, come on man!! The guy has spent nearly his whole career in rebuilds. He deserves to be part of something different at this stage of his career than to up sticks and be part of another one.

I know footy clubs should be looking through the windshield rather than in the rear view mirror but I just don’t think we’re st that point yet with Jones. Not to mention I’m pretty selfish and want him to be a 1 club player.

Will be interesting to see how this plays out.

Bugg was publicly hung drawn and quartered before he got to the tribunal. The club offered virtually no defence and many on this forum understandably were extremely critical of the act.

Now we have a star player ( a possible Demon next year).

How will West Coast, the media and this forum react?

Double standards is my bet.

I reckon we just saved ~$200k p.a.

I've been watching a lot of Frontline recently on YouTube. Certainly highlights the outright hypocrisy prevalent in the media; you hit the nail on the head. WA papers will rally behind him in solidarity, because he's a star player.

No different to the way the "stars" like Selwood, Dangerfield and Franklin always get generous treatment from umpires and tribunals.

Australia isn't America. Victims don't get to choose whether to 'press charges'. Police do.

It’s an excellent point. The ultimate test of club integrity.

One of the best TV shows ever made.

They could do a sports version .... it would be so easy ... can you imagine sending up Bruce and BT ?

West Coast had an insurmountable lead after half-time.

If I was in Gaff's position, I would've sat out the rest of the match and gone straight to Hamish in the stands to apologise.

He will actually have to go to hospital - where he should be now making sure the boy is ok

The professionally aggrieved will be out in force.  It's their time to shine.

Very out of character for Gaff.  He'll probably cop 5.

Love him at the Dees next year.

Yeah but I'd be seeing Hamish first, considering he's probably at the ground with family!

I would be looking at trading to the Gold Coast, for May.

OMc and Jones.

I love my club;  and also I really want the 2nd Qld team to succeed. GCS

For them the Key is real tough Love, with the right disciplined leaders.    To set them up the right way_   Enter Nathan Jones...   And Zac Jones, from the Swans.

We have a few possibilities as trade options, from ->   OMc, Tyson, Hunt, AVB, Wagner, Kent, Bugg, JKH, Keilty,

Worst , most clueless poster ever to contribute to these boards. Would do more damage to our club than the forced retirement of Jnr McDonald.

There's a saying you should take to heart, "it's better to stay silent and appear a fool than open your mouth and remove all doubt."

Not sure I want him anywhere near MFC Next year after seeing this. Might have been out of character but just as bad as what we have seen time and again on the streets. I reckon Gaff's career might now be heavily compromised by this act!

Adam Simpson just legit said "As much as it might have looked intentional, knowing Gaffy, it might not have been.”

Seriously...

Sickening acts of unprovoked violence on a playing field should be treated exactly the same as similar acts on our streets.  Just saw the act and the aftermath on TV. Distressing. Glad I didn't have a young one watching. Charge him.

Weagleskinghit I think!

Brayshaw must have said something to him, and Gaff has looked at him and gone Whack!!

Teeth in the Fingernails.

Could change his career

  • REPORT: North Melbourne

I suppose that I should apologise for the title of this piece, but the temptation to go with it was far too great. The memory of how North Melbourne tore Melbourne apart at the seams earlier in the season and the way in which it set the scene for the club’s demise so early in the piece has been weighing heavily upon all of us. This game was a must-win from the club’s perspective, and the team’s response was overwhelming. The 36 point win over Alastair Clarkson’s Kangaroos at the MCG on Sunday was indeed — roovenge of the highest order!

  • CASEY: Werribee

The Casey Demons remain in contention for a VFL finals berth following a comprehensive 76-point victory over the Werribee Tigers at Whitten Oval last night. The caveat to the performance is that the once mighty Tigers have been raided of many key players and are now a shadow of the premiership-winning team from last season. The team suffered a blow before the game when veteran Tom McDonald was withdrawn for senior duty to cover for Steven May who is ill.  However, after conceding the first goal of the game, Casey was dominant from ten minutes in until the very end and despite some early errors and inaccuracy, they managed to warm to the task of dismantling the Tigers with precision, particularly after half time when the nominally home side provided them with minimal resistance.

The Demons are finally back at the MCG and finally back on the winners list as they continually chipped away at a spirited Kangaroos side eventually breaking their backs and opening the floodgates to run out winners by 6 goals.
