He'd be irresponsible to stay... ergo he will leave.

Not sure if it was Healy or not, but Gerard usually gets pretty good mail.  He's pretty close to a number of players.

With McGovern just signing for 5 years, surely the piggy bank must be emptying quickly at the Eagles...

HAs to increase the likelihood that Gaff may leave.

That was my first thought, reading the article right now

Who do they have retiring this year that would be on a decent amount?

Saturdays game convinced me we need Gaff..

Me to offer him anything from 800 -900 5 year deal plus 1 or two of our NQR to secure the deal!

But we wont coz we aren't relentless enough!!

I would’ve said LeCras but I reckon he’ll go around again based on his renewed form.

we don't have to offer anything other than cash

he's a free agent

Restricted FA. Should WCE match what he is offered elsewhere, a trade must be done, or he goes into draft for Carlton to snaffle up. Most clubs would trade beforehand IMO, like Cats/Danger

Meth Coke won’t match tho

They’ll take their compo pick and trade it for Kelly from Geelong

Thanks mate, yeah he was the only one I could think of too, in that case they’d have to let Gaff go. I have heard they’ve offered him 4 x $800,000 but not a reliable source as of yet

I think West Coke will also try and get Mitch from the Crows who wants out and possibly Kelly from the Cats. They need Gaff to go for salary cap relief and also compensation that they can use to shore up potential trade/s.

If the Saints/Nth are going to make a godfather offer, then i think we need to do a bit of creative accounting and make some tough decisions on some players, to free up some cap space to offer something resembling their offer at least for the first few years. The incentive of playing for a better team should be enough for him to take unders, you'd hope.

Roos have more of a chance of landing him than the Saints.

Stay and get a sh!tload of cash with a team in premiership window (WCE), leave and get sh!tloads with a team not in premierships window (Kangas/St.K), leave and get sh!tloads of cash with a team coming into a premiership window (MFC/Pies/etc).

It will be option 1 or 3. Sorry aint's.

I don’t think Gaff will leave West Coast and go to a crap team. He’s a good enough player to command good money and some success.

Then the Dees it is then?

Dare I say it? Hogan -> Gaff???

You dare not. For one, Gaff is a RFA. We don’t need to give West Coast jackshit for him. But I mean if you want to volunteer trading one of the best young forwards in the competition, I’m sure they’ll be all ears ?

  • REPORT: West Coast

On a night of counting, Melbourne captain Max Gawn made sure that his contribution counted. He was at his best and superb in the the ruck from the very start of the election night game against the West Coast Eagles at Optus Stadium, but after watching his dominance of the first quarter and a half of the clash evaporate into nothing as the Eagles booted four goals in the last ten minutes of the opening half, he turned the game on its head, with a ruckman’s masterclass in the second half.  No superlatives would be sufficient to describe the enormity of the skipper’s performance starting with his 47 hit outs, a career-high 35 possessions (22 of them contested), nine clearances, 12 score involvements and, after messing up an attempt or two, finally capping off one of the greatest rucking performances of all time, with a goal of own in the final quarter not long after he delivered a right angled pass into the arms of Daniel Turner who also goaled from a pocket (will we ever know if the pass is what was intended). That was enough to overturn a 12 point deficit after the Eagles scored the first goal of the second half into a 29 point lead at the last break and a winning final quarter (at last) for the Demons who decided not to rest their champion ruckman at the end this time around.

  • GAMEDAY: West Coast

It's Game Day and the Demons have a chance to notch up their third consecutive win — something they haven’t done since Round 5, 2024. But to do it, they’ll need to exorcise the Demons of last year’s disastrous trip out West. Can the Dees continue their momentum, right the wrongs of that fateful clash, and take another step up the ladder on the road to redemption?
