Alex Neal-Bullen - AFL top 10 in distance covered in game

I don't care how far he's run, ANB has been a disappointment this season. He was good last year, as he laid lots of tackles in the forward half, applied constant pressure around the ball, and made the most of his scoring opportunities when he got them. This year he seems to be running around aimlessly and even appears scared of the contest at times. He's not winning ball, he's not scoring, he's not tackling as much, and he's having an overall negative impact on the team.

Just loved his kick off the ground at the bounday line at our end, giving them an out on the full. Idiotic.

Yeah that was idiotic that attempted kick. It was only ever going to go out on the full, but he didn't have the smarts to just work the ball over the line to reload for a throw in. Depth player who tries but isn't good enough.

More shallow end than depth.

Headless chook ?

I asked in post match thread, where is he and strech running to? A km per touch is notgreat reward. Is he guarding or creating space? Because they were not using this run last night but hard the see the effort on the screen.

Butcher by trade.
Send him and Stretch back to the VFL and leave them there.

Decision making is poor and he squibbed it multiple times.Gone backwards.

Absolutely saw his shirk it a number of times, get him out immediately.

He's overthinking it at the moment. He's been given a role - no idea what - and he's not playing confidently or fluently. Same as a lot of our players.

Kicks the ball out on the full 40m out directly in front... not AFL standard

If that's your sole criterion, then neither are (or were) Buddy Franklin, Matthew Richardson and Nick Reiwoldt.

FWIW, every team needs an accumulator. He acts as the link man by working hard to get into the right place to get the ball. Needs to improve what he then does with it, though, so that he consistently delivers it correctly. On that last point, a similar statement could be made about many others in the team including Harmes, Hunt, Wagner and Tyson.

ANB was exciting in his debut year, OK in his second, but abysmally out of touch this season.

What has gone wrong?  Poor coaching? Poor mentoring?  Asked to play a role that he cannot adapt to?

??????

Disappointing.   He MUST sort himself out over the next month or so (MFC or Casey) or he will risk delisting / trade (depending upon contract status).

Just give him a lock down role on someone, it's not like they are going to out run him.

Maybe if he is in the middle locking down players more he can build some form and become the damaging player we need him to be.

Biggest surprise -

Oscar and Wagner being 2nd and 3rd at the club for kilometers covered per game?

Or Hogan clocking the third fastest sprint just a fraction of a second behind Hunt and Garlett?

Interesting stats. Not surprised about wagner. Bit surprised Oscar covers so much ground (more than rance). I guess he tracks the key forwards who all now have to be great athletes (eg brown tops the roos list - daw has their fastest sprint by the by)

Given he basically never gets a spell on the bench and his position is so physically taxing he must be a fit young bugger.

Yes, some weird statistics... I did like that as a team we are second for distance covered behind Collingwood (and GWS is almost the same as us). Should mean that we are all working harder as a team - well i hope it does! Against Gold Coast jessie & weid were close to 8km at half-time, so i would've thought someone like that would be up there..
