Find some form fast Melksham and ANB or bring in Stretch for either of them. Melksham looked white hot before the season started.

Given we've got a 9 day break followed by a 5 day break, I doubt they'll make mass changes, as we'll need to keep some fresh for the Dons.  

I don't think we need Frost this week, but will against Essendon, so drop him for Hunt to provide the speed in the backline. We need a capable second ruck, Harmes looks lost, not his fault and I wouldn't drop him for playing the role he has the last 2 weeks. I'd love Lewis to be dropped but I think they'll keep him and maybe rest him for the Dons.Vince I doubt is needed, unless he tags, and Richmond have shown that whoever gets tagged goes deep forward, and Vince is a liability there.

My changes would be out: Frost, Vince and Melksham

In: Peds, Tyson and Hannan.

Against Essendon, I'd be looking at resting Lewis, Jetta, Wagner, and one of Bugg or Garlett. Then bringing back Frost, Vince and then hope J Smith is ready to go and maybe Weid. 

Everyone here has something against every player in the squad. It's almost pointless asking who should come in and who should go out. All i can say is play Hogan at full [censored] forward so we have an out ball. Bring Hannan IN for Harmes and have him and Jeffy play off Hogan. Hunt in for Frost, we don't need extra talls and i've accepted the fact we can't defend so bring Hunt in for his attacking strength. Also bring Tyson in for any of the crabs we don't need.

I'd expect a big response, but if it's another [censored] performance the season isn't dead, but hope is lost of doing anything meaningful in finals. 

 

Edit: Also any chance we can pump Viney up on painkillers and get him to go out and there and rip the tigers apart. Can't stand that muppet [censored] Rance. Bernie can get a life time membership if he goes in knocks that [censored] out.

Still stunned, I only got to watch the first quarter and we looked like we were all over them, Hogan was everywhere and Kent and Brayshaw looked strong too. To come back and see one goal kicked for the remainder of the ground left me gobsmacked! Anyway I don't have any real concrete thoughts about who should come in, but a couple of my thoughts...

We need a tall forward target, especially if we are letting Hogan roam the ground more. Until TMac is back, we need to play another tall in Pedo or Weid.  

I think we need to send a message to a couple of the senior players (Lewis... Melk... ) and possibly put them back into the VFL for a couple of weeks.... and given that the closer we get to having Viney play we will need to make this call anyway... if Jones moves out of the midfield to the HBF, we can't have him, Vince and Lewis all playing down there.

Melk, ANB, Bugg and Harmes... all too similar at the moment, Kent has some toe, and Fritsch has a leap and would be a hard match up, but I think one these guys has to give way for one of the talls.

The balance of the side.... or the structure looks right without TMac...

I’ve lined them up as I see them being replace.

Harmes can’t back up in the ruck and go fwd and he isn’t getting enough around the ground. Pedo straight in.

Hunt has had his wake up call while Wagner has continued to flounder.. Hunt gives us pace in the back line.

Jetta needs a spell at Casey for confidence and Joel Smith gives us more flexibility in the air and at ground level.

Melksham isn’t kicking goals not setting them up, Balic has put some form together, let’s have a look at him.

I’d like to see Lever start Fwd to try and throw out Richmond’s defence, Joel Smith can cover Levers marking down back. 

Move Vince to a wing and let’s start the middle with Jones Oliver Brayshaw Gawn. 

Hogan FF Petracca FP Lever FF And Pedo CHF..

We need structure!!

Also if Tyson is Fit I would look at a 5th change.

You know that bathwater the Melbourne players are said to be drinking? Let's not throw the baby out with it.

Our problems yesterday were structural as much as anything else. Let's try and fix that. Two changes are needed for that purpose alone. Gawn cannot ruck with Harmes as his backup. It's not Harmes' fault and he certainly gives his all. But it means Gawn has to ruck for too long when it would be better if he spent a few minutes each quarter in the forward line. To fix that, one of Pedersen, Weideman or Frost has to be playing that role. If Weideman is ready (done enough work), I would play him as he is more likely to be in our future plans.

The second structural problem is the slowness of our backline. Jetta is really struggling (and was never that quick), Vince must have a sore back as he continually chose to (try to) kick the ball off the ground rather than bending over and I suspect without any evidence other than what I could see that Lewis was actually ill yesterday. He looked completely unable to generate any power. I actually thought Lever was OK, although he struggles when the ball is at ground level. I would add either Hunt or Brayshaw to the back six in place of Frost.

In the end, assuming no injuries, I would replace Bugg (what a momentum killer!) and Frost with Weideman and Hunt. Let the rest redeem themselves.

Petracca needs a rocket. He cant coast through games and he is represents our team.. his form is good when we are up and about.. people may not like it but he is a flat track bully at the moment.. he is better than that

OUT: Melksham - to dumb runs away from where he should go / Bugg - no Footy IQ  / Harmes: tries but limited.

 Liam Jones was only ever a failed forward until he was tried down back.  I dont mean for him to replace Oliver and play there permanently, but get him in the play.. get some spark. 

Anyway, seems like you know best so lets move on.

I have four certain ins with a fifth likely, depending on coaching philosophy.

In: Hunt - if you are going to play a high press, as we have done, then you need quick players to get back. He's a monte anyway against Richmond's small forward set up. Yes he may bomb it long too often, but which of our defenders was immune from mistakes against the Hawks. 

Tyson - If he's healthy again then he has to play. Sure he makes the odd error, but he's a genuine worker and has the confidence to present and the vision and long kick to switch play.

Stretch - As with Hunt, he's needed because he works hard both ways off his wing and he presents and makes space. With Tyson, a key to us rediscovering how to switch play again.

Hannan - Our 23rd man yesterday and given how poorly most of our small forwards went, he has to be recalled.

The fifth gets down to whether Goody decides he needs a stronger (albeit slower) tall-marking option up forward than what he has got already. Personally I would go Tim Smith (because he is a better tackler than Weids or Pedo), but there is a case for both Weids and Pedo. I'm just dubious that this is the right game (at night against a ferocious tackling side) for Weids or Pedo and I doubt whether they can influence the ruck enough against Grigg to make it worthwhile. Harmes has been prepared with this game in mind - to forsake him now, would be a panic move.

Hold on...please don't interpret what I wrote as fact. I was intending my comment to say that Vince played as if he had a sore back and couldn't bend over; and I thought that Lewis looked like there was something wrong with him. I apologise if what I wrote looked like I was reporting something factual. That wasn't my intent.

This is my massive overreaction team but if they want to play a side actually capable of running and taking the game on and matching up against the Tigers pace and forward pressure then this would be it. 

It's probably unlikely Spargo or Baker are ready, and Hunt isn't really back either. Stretch has limitations as does Tyson (and Brayshaw). As does Smith. And Harmes will make mistakes down back but at least he'll do it whilst hitting the contest and taking the game on.

The current team is picked to excel against a theoretically bad and pressure-less opponent. 

If we're designing a fanciful football team then give me one that has class at half back, pace and spread on the outside and competitive forwards.

There is something wrong with Lewis. He's old as heck and more interesting in a media career than playing football. Clarkson knew that 2 years ago. When the going gets tough against a high pressure aggressive team he doesn't have it any more.

I knew it as well. I knew it at exactly this moment.

Smart changes. We need a tall to play on Rance. Smith was doing it well last year before Rance put him in hospital with a well disguised knee to the ribs. I'd be keen to give him another shot at it.

yeah fair enough demon3.  Worth running him through there to see what he can do.

I love Hunt by the way, dont get me wrong.   Just think he will be a specialist half back.
