Wasnt the fanciest of wins, but boy does it feel good to put those campaigners back in their box.

Good team effort to come back from a super sloppy start.

Horrendous umpiring. Really needs to be looked at. That call on fritsch was the worst ive seen in a long timem

Does anyone know what that was for?

Can’t believe the ball went straight off Bugg’s boot a whole 4 times.

After the game they interviewed Bernie.  He reckons he took Buggy under his wing with goal kicking practice this past week, and so (very humbly...not) takes full credit!  Gotta love Bernie!

GO THE MIGHTY DEES!

TOP 4 YOU BEAUTY!

We definitely have the best ruckman in the comp by a country mile.

Sorry to Wagner, Bugg and Salem they were fantastic today.

Who were the clowns that wanted Lewis dropped?

Does Jones ever play a bad game?

Posted

I’m always very hard on him and always questioned his selection but Wagner was terrific today, sublime kicking! I was very impressed.

umpires were unbelievably bad, if the commentators are saying they have had a bad day you know the have been farken shizenhousin.

A great game from Lewis but he was stuffed right at the end

he will need good management through the games this year

a finals win or two might finish him up go dees !!

Ben Browns stats look inflated. 3/4 of his goals were from frees. (One where he faked it and another earnt by his team mate).

I'd be lying if I said OMac inspired me with confidence, but he did a very good job again today, and you are spot on about Brown's goals.

He was great today.

His problem has been going to ground and when he stops that he is still very good.

Unfortunately we might be in strife with the MRP for a couple of incidents:

  • Jetta's bump on Brown in Q3(?)
  • Frost's sling tackle on Anderson in Q4

Who was that f!0g who said Bugg and kent couldnt kick goals from set shots...

I don't think it was me but it definitely sounds like something I would've said before.

Wagner was very good too. I was extremely critical of his selection in r1 but he's hardly put a foot wrong since halftime time vs the Cats. Hopefully he settles in because he seems to have a good boot on him.

Gawn was just incredible. Incredible everywhere. One of his best ever games.

Loved the chains of composure with some of our younger players.

Jones was great, good captains game.

Hogan 2nd BOG for me behind Gawn.

Can’t believe the ball went straight off Bugg’s boot a whole 4 times.

Love  tubby Kent, welcome back.

Frost v Hunt selection was the correct one.

May North [censored] off and never beat us again.

Yep..a lot to smile about.

Hard to see who comes out with a lot of talent sidelined.

Jetta will be fine unless North lodge a medical report citing "delayed concussion"

Didn't see the other one

True.  Think he found a team mate with pretty much every kick.  Was an excellent display.

Sidebottom got a fine for his sling tackle last night. Anderson wasn't hurt so I'd be livid if Frost got a week.

Jetta might be in trouble though. From the replay looks like he decides to bump and then appears to make high contact.

The 'hoodoo' is dead, despite that mob having 26 on the park.  Proud Demon tonight!!

You are obviously including the boundary umpire who paid out, when Harmes clearly marked it inside the line.

Umpire 26 should never get another game. Jono Brown summed it up well with " the umpires had a very bad game today ". Roos was pretty scathing and Eddie and Sandy said a few times they were stunned.

On the other hand we fought hard for a great win.

I cracked the sads 10 minutes in after they got 4 goals up. Can anyone tell me how much we lost by? ;)

Decent win and showed that the past is that. The past.

Best game I've seen Gawny play. You could see that they got some momentum up when he went to the bench exhausted.

I think Jordie summed it up brilliantly when he said that the issue is with some of our younger stagers needing to know when to slow it down. They did it perfectly in that last quarter.

I was also encouraged by the reaction at the siren. While I reckon that it was wise to acknowledge the elephant in the room, the fact the boys were happy but didn't go overboard was reassuring.

In other news, I deleted my Facebook account 2 weeks ago (with the deletion becoming permanent tomorrow).  For the entire time that I used it (I created the account at the end of 2006), we never beat North. Maybe there is a coincidence to be found there?

And finally, if there was anyone who has a license to be pessimistic, it's you @old dee

It is, as they say in pro wrestling, your gimmick. ;)

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
