This injury to TMac is a worrying considering the limited preseasons the Weid and T Smith have had. Also puts the kibosh on Hogan having stints in the middle. Pedo would be a lock for Round 1 now.

What is the condition of T Smith? Is he ready or capable at this stage of playing in the firsts?

He got the call up last year when Hoges was suspended against the Cats. Didn't have a lot of the footy but had more than Weids who was in the same team. Got injured 2 weeks later and did not return to the team.

Laurie Fowler, tremendous footballer for Melb after his stint with the Tigers. Best friend of John Nichols, I heard. And Tassie Johnston. Those great drop kicks from the Richmond goalsquare past the centre of the MCG. He just knew where the ball was going. Few ever got in his way. Two greats. Hardeman, not a tall, killing all opposition forwards, the greatest.

Tommy wasn't playing last week and Hoges still had a run through the middle.

Nothing will change in that regard.

Are we even sure Tom is definitely missing in round 1 or are we all panicking?

Far from panicking.

I'd prefer him to Pedersen, but it's hardly wrist slashing material if he doesn't play the first few rounds.  

If TMac is missing, then we can have a forward line of pedo/maxy rotating and hogan, with Fritsch and Hannan in support.   We can even send Trac in there as a CHF/FF for a while.  We have a range of options (none of which is Frost, TBH), without playing either Smith or Weids.  If they are not ready, they are not ready.  If we win the middle, keep pressure forward, and hit good targets, it isn't going to be the end of the world.

That was a practice match. I'm not so sure we will leave just Pedo as the only big man in the forward for too long in the real thing.

I’m none the wiser if he has the start of a stress fracture or not now! Exactly how the club wants it I assume

A sore toe could just mean a sore toe. Unlike previous years, I think we’re now just being extra cautious and not rushing players back, Viney would have been playing round 1.

You’re right, no mention at all of a hotspot, after the news of a hotspot surfaced last night a sore toe seemed like a relief. If indeed there is one, i guess they’re hiding it.

"I'm confident [he will play round one]. He's got a sore toe and he's had that for a month or so," Goodwin said as he enters his second season in charge of the Demons.

If the above is true, why was T Mac allowed to play in AFLX and the opening JLT?  I thought the players were straight into rehab if they felt even a slight itch.
