Petracca is to St Kilda what Wines is to Melbourne, chances of it changing negligible. Also unlike Port, I don't want McCartin in another year or two...

I wonder if McCartin was next on our list in the 2014 draft..? If memory serves correctly the media assumed he was, but I’ve also heard DeGoey was being looked at.

We had him and let him go, he is staying at Port and it is time to move on.

No second chances. We chose Toumpas over Wines despite Wines being an absolute standout junior, and best mates with Jack Viney (plus overwhelming Demonlanders demanding Wines)

Such is life!!

If not PA, where would Wines go? Norf  or Saints? He will be RFA at seasons end, so not cost a club any picks or trades.

I don’t think he is an RFA, I think that’s an error in the article...

Drafted 2012, this is his 6th full year. Is it 6 or 8 years for RFA?

Not sure on the rules, but he's not on either of these AFL lists...

Set to sign a two year extension.

I'm rather disappointed to hear he'll miss our first two premierships but maybe we can squeeze him in for our third?

Reading through 2014 I still think we picked the eyes out of the draft, I am a believer in the no DH approach.

Stringer had issues outside of the club, yes it impacted his game after a period of time, but when he was drafted he was ready to go.

Not like the Plethera of hopeless drafting the MFC embarked upon from 2008-13 under the astute guidance of our previous CEO Mr. Whiteboard, whereby we employed under weight and under developed choir boys who looked lovely wearing Blazers.

I don’t think anyone has ever drafted worse than the MFC between those years

FCS it is no good dwelling on the past and wrist slitting  - tes we got it wrong - but continuing this what if stuff could be soul destroying

Enjoy what we have with the likes of Clarrie, Petracca, Salem, Hogan, maybe Viney some day, etc

This is an Ollie Wines thread

  • 3 weeks later...

I think this topic has been started else where, but I still would love Ollie Wines in the red and blue at the end of 2018. I know most would prefer a Sloane or Gaff type, but I still froth at the thought of Wines, Viney and Oliver in the guts throwing there weight around.

P.J said last week on the podcast we still have room for a decent player/ F.A

Oliver.

Don't forget this club could have and should have picked you.  We even had more intel on you than any other club.  If I were you, I wouldn't give a sucker and even break.

Why would he have wanted his son at the MFC 2013???

He should be thanking his lucky stars that we passed on him and he has gone on to play plenty of finals football in front of huge parochial fans at a great new stadium.  Maybe he could be filthy with the Bulldogs who passed on Ollie twice and have won a flag in that time.

He should be begging us then right?

Ollie would be a nice addidition to our team. Have we got anything to trade with?

Why would he come

Ollie has friends in Melbourne and MONEY,MONEY,MONEY will do it.

He’d be a great get obviously, but we have no way of getting him. He’s not a free agent, so we have to trade for him.

We don’t have a first rounder this year, and we’re not allowed to trade next years. Unless we trade one of Hogan, Oliver, Petracca or Gawn, then we can’t get Wines. We won’t be trading any of them, so may as well close this thread unless you enjoy torturing yourselves (which you may, being Melbourne supporters and all haha).

Re-signed for 4 years.

  • NON-MFC: Round 07

Round 7 gets underway in iconic fashion with the traditional ANZAC Day blockbuster. The high-flying Magpies will be looking to solidify their spot atop the ladder, while the Bombers are desperate for a win to stay in touch with the top eight. Later that evening, Fremantle will be out to redeem themselves after a disappointing loss to the Demons, facing a hungry Adelaide side with eyes firmly set on breaking into the top four. Saturday serves up a triple-header of footy action. The Lions will be looking to consolidate their Top 2 spot as they head to Marvel Stadium to clash with the Saints. Over in Adelaide, Port Adelaide will be strong favourites at home against a struggling North Melbourne. The day wraps up with a fiery encounter in Canberra, where the Giants and Bulldogs renew their bitter rivalry. Sunday’s schedule kicks off with the Suns aiming to bounce back from their shock defeat to Richmond, taking on the out of form Swans. Then the Blues will be out to claim a major scalp when they battle the Cats at the MCG. The round finishes with a less-than-thrilling affair between Hawthorn and West Coast at Marvel. Who are you tipping and what are the best results for the Demons?

  • REPORT: Fremantle

For this year’s Easter Saturday game at the MCG, Simon Goodwin and his Demons wound the clock back a few years to wipe out the horrible memories of last season’s twin thrashings at the hands of the Dockers. And it was about time! Melbourne’s indomitable skipper Max Gawn put in a mammoth performance in shutting out his immediate opponent Sean Darcy in the ruck and around the ground and was a colossus at the end when the game was there to be won or lost. It was won by 16.11.107 to 14.13.97. There was the battery-charged Easter Bunny in Kysaiah Pickett running anyone wearing purple ragged, whether at midfield stoppages or around the big sticks. He finish with a five goal haul.

  • CASEY: UWS Giants

The Casey Demons took on an undefeated UWS Giants outfit at their own home ground on a beautiful autumn day but found themselves completely out of their depth going down by 53 points against a well-drilled and fair superior combination. Despite having 15 AFL listed players at their disposal - far more than in their earlier matches this season - the Demons were never really in the game and suffered their second defeat in a row after their bright start to the season when they drew with the Kangaroos, beat the Suns and matched the Cats for most of the day on their own dung heap at Corio Bay. The Giants were a different proposition altogether. They had a very slight wind advantage in the opening quarter but were too quick off the mark for the Demons, tearing the game apart by the half way mark of the term when they kicked the first five goals with clean and direct football.

The Dees are back at the MCG on Thursday for the annual blockbuster ANZAC Eve game against the Tigers. Can the Demons win back to back games for the first time since Rounds 17 & 18 last season? Who comes in and who goes out?
