Preseason Training Week commencing - 8/01/18

That hectic tatt on Balic’s shin is the surprise of 2018 for me.

He looked to be such an innocent young man.

Firstly thanks for the awesome photos.

Secondly you had used up 91% of your alloted quota of uploaded storage onto Demonland. I have now doubled the quota for life members.

Any way to delete older content to enable loading new content?

I’ll second that!

After last years disappointment, I’ve had a pretty bitter taste in the mouth and I haven’t been counting the days to round one like I have in previous years.

The recent coverage of training on DL however has started to stoke the flames again; starting to feel excited about what’s to come!

The players who we haven't seen injury free are the one's I am looking forward to seeing what they can bring fully fit, n particular Salem and Brayshaw who are doing most sessions

Cheers HT, Liam and Saty for the pics and everyone for the updates.

Much appreciated

If you’re uploading images to Facebook (or Instagram etc..) as well as here there’s also the option of copying the Facebook link and clicking ‘insert image from URL’ on here. It will save your upload quota.

Just a tip for young players.

Great photos again Son of Tacky.

Love the flame red hair of Baker. If he gets pulled by his wild mop, does that count as a high tackle?

On Wednesday they had Hogan and Hibberd working together separate to the main group before they left the session early (see my photos posted yesterday in this thread), but for the most part they seemed to be pitting backs against each other and forwards against each other... for example Wagner on Lewis, Frost on OMac, Kielty on Lever; perhaps in an effort to learn from each other.

Cheers 'tack. This is something I'd noticed before without paying a great deal of attention to - defenders v defenders etc. at training. I can understand the idea from the perspective of developing cohesion within a unit and it being easier for instruction, but it's a bit of an odd one-track approach or wasted opportunity, no?

I would think Omac might benefit from consistently learning how to contain Hogan (and vice a versa re. Hogan being better able to exploit one-on-ones) as much as he would in gaining insight from Lever on positioning. How did Hibberd go?

Truly great snaps from your young'un btw. He's got an genuine eye for the subtle nuances of human emotion.

starting to get very worried about viney, seems to be taking a long time to get right, much like trenners

He is very close but not quite there, yet. Trac will be there if he can get his 'engine' to last a whole game at full bore.

Yep TPF39, pre-season anxiety genuinely stimulated; these photos have that magic effect. Anticipation seems to be at fever pitch right across the board. Thanks to the great photos from those who have contributed to this site.

There is a good article in the club site at the moment.  They are taking it extremely cautiously.

Seen a good deal of that, OMac - feet flat on the ground, thinking out loud 'What do I do next?', 'Maybe if I stand here looking like I can occupy this ground the rest of the game will go around me, perhaps?', 'Hey, they did!' Gutsy stuff, I'd reckon.

Its one thing not rating a player  in the team you support and making your case as to why. I have no issue at all with that.

What i do have an issue with is so called supporters bagging their own players, particularly when it is as petty as this post.  I cant stand it, whether it is my club or another one. You often hear it at the footy and i am embarrassed when it is a demon fan.

Basically a personal attack on a 21 year old kid busting a gut to play for the demons. Questioning his courage? Ridicuiling him? Pathetic.

Viney has been on restricted duties after developing a stress fracture in his right foot at the end of last season, following surgery to release the plantar fascia in his foot last July.

First I have heard of that.   Frightening.  Hope he can get back. (Understatement of the year).

Asking for a friend...if I (sorry, my friend) isn't on Facebook or Instagram, would he still be able to see these photos? If not, that would be a selfish* thing to do.

(*Sarcasm alert...just in case)

I haven’t tried it, but I would hope that by linking directly to the image, it should be embedded in the Demonland post and therefore you see it without going to Facebook (it could just be rather tedious for the person posting when linking to large numbers of images).

The fact that there are a few who can’t view images in Facebook is the reason I post a Facebook link to the album as well as upload a subset of those images. But you won’t have to worry about Facebook for a while as my son and I are back home in Sydney now ?

Will miss Liam's excellent work. But I hope he and you enjoyed your time at Gosch's paddock.

Judging by this photo it will take a lot to convince me that Joel Macdonald hasn't stopped making his millions to return to playing for Melbourne.

No i don't. But i'm very happy to argue my case for why i rate a player, particularly when the opposing arguments are patently ridiculous.......

  • REPORT: Carlton

I am now certain that the decline in fortunes of the Melbourne Football Club from a premiership power with the potential for more success to come in the future, started when the team ran out for their Round 9 match up against Carlton last year. After knocking over the Cats in a fierce contest the week before, the Demons looked uninterested at the start of play and gave the Blues a six goal start. They recovered to almost snatch victory but lost narrowly with a score of 11.10.76 to 12.5.77. Yesterday, they revisited the scene and provided their fans with a similar display of ineptitude early in the proceedings. Their attitude at the start was poor, given that the game was so winnable. Unsurprisingly, the resulting score was almost identical to that of last year and for the fourth time in succession, the club has lost a game against Carlton despite having more scoring opportunities.

  • CASEY: Carlton

The Casey Demons smashed the Carlton Reserves off the park at Casey Fields on Sunday to retain a hold on an end of season wild card place. It was a comprehensive 108 point victory in which the home side was dominant and several of its players stood out but, in spite of the positivity of such a display, we need to place an asterisk over the outcome which saw a net 100 point advantage to the combined scores in the two contests between Demons and Blues over the weekend.

  • POSTGAME: Carlton

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.
