Let's just hope the person making the allegations is ok. Can't imagine the pain or trauma someone goes through when something like this occurs. Whether guilty or innocent, they felt the need to come forward. Hope the club and Afl ensure her wellbeing is the number 1 priority.

everyhing else is second

I know this is self serving as a fan of the MFC but I hate that it leaks because I can't see it doing the girl any favours at all.

Vic Police can't do anything to investigate.
Indonesian police are the correct channel but who knows what they'll do.
The AFL might investigate if a complain is made to them but surely shouldn't get involved until legal avenues are pursued.

Not sure how any of it going public helps.

Argh....I immediately think "this club is cursed" but then I'm reminded someone may have been assaulted sexually and the football is secondary.

I just can't fathom how anyone could assault a woman against her will. It's so foreign to me, the idea that would force yourself on someone. I'll admit I've made [censored] advances on women in the past and made them visibly uncomfortable, I'm sure we all have, but once I've realised I've always backed off.

Problem for this woman is that it's a legal matter for Indonesian police. There's little Vic police could do except refer it to the department in that jurisdiction.

Have you been raped before? I'm sure that if you'v been treated that way by a person in power, you'll do everything you can to ruin them. The girl has to know that this havng happened in bali means the player will almost certainly never face the law.

I think it's too early for these sentiments.

I'd at least want to know the allegations, circumstances, etc.

My sympathy will be determined by the facts.  Right now it may, or may not be warranted.

Let's not jump to conclusions here! Sexual assault can mean many things.

We have no idea what , if anything, happened.

true...same goes though. "rape" is never used in legal or media reports.

Not often I agree with ProDee on these sorts of things, but I do here.

Five possible sources for the leak to the media:

  1. The girl
  2. The player
  3. MFC
  4. The Police
  5. The AFL Integrity Unit

I would be shattered if it was from withing MFC.

I would have my money on the so called Integrity Unit.

In my book, the leaking of a personal matter to the media is a sackable offence.

I don't think it would be from within the integrity unit. The AFL could do without this story.

Got some reliable word on this.  Won't post it for obvious reasons - but it's bad.

Im just sick of the negative news.last week it was about the players cancelling the boot camp and now this.

I  would have thought after the embarrassment of last season and how we stuffed it up it would be head down do some hard work.

We will just have to wait and see. Personally I’m not going to get worked up over what could potentially be a vexatious complaint.

And I thought after Jack Watts left it would be a no news off season.

how much more serious can you get on the sexual assault scale than...sexual assault?

There’s different types of sexual assault - sexual penetration without consent (rape), indecent assault, indecent act etc etc.

Is this a serious question ?

There's grabbing an arse, there's grabbing a breast Wayne Carey style, there's exposing oneself, there's rape, and no doubt many other sexual assaults.

Some are jail worthy under the law and some render fines.

There are degrees of everything.

Let's wait for the facts.

Rape e.g. being forced to have vaginal, anal or oral sex'

Unwanted touching e.g. pinching, patting, embracing, rubbing, groping, flicking, kissing, fondling, being touched on the breasts, bum, legs etc;

Sexual harassment e.g. dirty jokes or rude comments about a person's sex life;

Obscene gestures e.g. simulating masturbation in front of a person;

Voyeurism e.g. being watched doing intimate things without permission;

Unwanted sexual comments or jokes e.g. comments about a person's body or relationships;

Sex-related insults e.g. calling someone a [censored], dyke, homo, slag etc;

Pressuring for dates or demand for sex e.g. invitations that turn into threats or not taking 'no' for an answer;

Indecent exposure e.g. someone showing private parts of their body or 'flashing' their genitals;

Being forced to watch or participate in porn e.g. taking a photo without permission, forcing someone to be on video, making someone watch a pornographic movie;

Offensive written material e.g. dirty notes, letters, phone messages, emails, SMS, pictures;

Incest/intrafamilial child sexual assault e.g. a family member e.g. father or brother engaging in sexual activity with a child or young person;

Unwanted, offensive and invasive interpersonal communication through technologies such as mobile phones, internet social networking sites and email.

Might need the facts hey?

Looks like no charges will be laid

  • REPORT: St. Kilda

    When looking back at the disastrous end to the game, I find it a waste of time to concentrate on the final few moments when utter confusion reigned. Forget the 6-6-6 mess, the failure to mark the most dangerous man on the field, the inability to seal the game when opportunities presented themselves to Clayton Oliver, Harry Petty and Charlie Spargo, the vision of match winning players of recent weeks in Kozzy Pickett and Jake Melksham spending helpless minutes on the interchange bench and the powerlessness of seizing the opportunity to slow the tempo of the game down in those final moments.

  • CASEY: Sandringham

    The Casey Demons rebounded from a sluggish start to manufacture a decisive win against Sandringham in the final showdown, culminating a quarter century of intense rivalry between the fluctuating alignments of teams affiliated with AFL clubs Melbourne and St Kilda, as the Saints and the Zebras prepare to forge independent paths in 2026. After conceding three of the first four goals of the match, the Demons went on a goal kicking rampage instigated by the winning ruck combination of Tom Campbell with 26 hitouts, 26 disposals and 13 clearances and his apprentice Will Verrall who contributed 20 hitouts. This gave first use of the ball to the likes of Jack Billings, Bayley Laurie, Riley Bonner and Koltyn Tholstrup who was impressive early. By the first break they had added seven goals and took a strong grip on the game. The Demons were well served up forward early by Mitch Hardie and, as the game progressed, Harry Sharp proved a menace with a five goal performance. Emerging young forwards Matthew Jefferson and Luker Kentfield kicked two each but the former let himself down with some poor kicking for goal.
    Young draft talent Will Duursma showed the depth of his talent and looks well out of reach for Melbourne this year. Kalani White was used sparingly and had a brief but uneventful stint in the ruck.
