Gotta be honest here... who actually uses twitter?
People with way too much time on their hands, those in IT, those in media, and those who are interested in self-promotion.
That's pretty much it.

Twitter is great for following live sport or getting up to date news if you're a sport's lover. I also follow a heap of Dees fans & have some great chats about the club. I actually find Twitter the best form of social media as i don't have to look at pictures of people's food or babies.

Not sure if this has been mentioned elsewhere on here or if it warrants a seperate thread, but MFC is due to unveil a new major sponsor most likely in mid-January.

Haven't heard any precise details regarding $ value or deal term as yet, but I have seen a mock up of the jumper as the front-of-jumper logo is being refined for best visibility over the red and blue chest area.

Anyway, MFC and the sponsor will announce in due course, however I think you'll be seeing a lot of MFC players getting around town in luxury Japanese vehicles from next year.

Lexus pray you are correct.

Lexus are the luxury division of Toyota. In terms of size of the sponsor that's a pretty big company/brand, it doesn't really get much bigger globally than Toyota. Congrats to the club if true.

Thanks rolling!   I really hope this works out as you have foreshadowed.  We could do with a healthy dose of good news around now.

I use twitter daily.

You are 100% correct.

Lexus would be a fantastic sponsor for us, if this is true

Premium brand, and part of the overarching Toyota sponsorship of the AFL as a whole

Now, about that 50% off for members...

Well that looks promising praha

Would be really nice to keep a sponsor LONG TERM for a change.

We should play off the stereotype, get Range Rover and Mt Buller or Auski as sponsors. May as well, at least we have an opportunity, not like Collingwood will get Centrelink as a sponsor or Richmond the Australian Dental Association.

Is iselect staying on as the back of jumper sponsor or was that a one year deal?

still listed on club web site, whereas ahg aren't, but that may depend on contract start date. iirc iselect were a late signing

It's always struck me as strange that BMW or Mercedes have never been major kit sponsors.

Fantastic to hear we've got a major sponsor lined up though. Thanks for the info. I hope it's Lexus.

And I'm with @Dr. Gonzo - I reckon we play into the stereotypes. I've always found it peculiar that people actually bag us for having money. Shouldn't we be mocking them? ;)

Curious as to why car manufacturers are such common sponsors of AFL clubs? Anyone with some marketing insight care to postulate?

I believe two of the biggest interests of people in Australia are sports and cars.

They are now sponsoring the Melbourne Cup so can't see them doing us as well, so maybe the boys will be in Vitaras or Datsuns.

Epic battle alert.  This Sunday, Casey Fields hosts a coach’s showdown pitting the wits of the master Mick Stinear (92 games, 71.7% win rate) against his protégé Daisy Pearce (16 games, 43.8%). Still early in her coaching journey, Daisy’s record doesn’t yet reflect her impact — but she’s already the best-performed coach at West Coast.Dais’ is mythic.  Like Katniss Everdeen, everyone either wants to kiss her, kill her (sporting metaphor) or be her.  Toothers Daisy Pearce is a role model, someone admired for their heart, humility and humour.

  • AFLW REPORT: Port Adelaide

Well, that was a shock. The Demons 4-game unbeaten run came to a grinding halt in a tense, scrappy affair at the sunny, windy Alberton Oval, with the Power holding on for a 2-point win. The Dees had their chances—plenty of them—but couldn't convert when it mattered most. Port’s tackling pressure rattled the Dees, triggering a fumble frenzy and surprising lack of composure from seasoned players.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Port Adelaide

The undefeated Demons venture across the continent to the spiritual home of the Port Adelaide Football Club on Saturday afternoon for the inaugural match for premiership points between these long-historied clubs. Alberton Oval will however, be a ground familiar to our players following a practice match there last year. We lost both the game and Liv Purcell, who missed 7 home and away matches after suffering facial fractures in the dying moments of the game.

  • AFLW REPORT: Richmond

A glorious sunny afternoon with a typically strong Casey Fields breeze favouring the city end greeted this round four clash of the undefeated Narrm against the winless Tigers. Pre-match, the teams entered the ground through the Deearmy’s inclusive banner—"Narrm Football Weaving Communities Together and then Warumungu/Yawuru woman and Fox Boundary Rider, Megan Waters, gave the official acknowledgement of country. Any concerns that Collingwood’s strategy of last week to discombobulate the Dees would be replicated by Ryan Ferguson and his Tigers evaporated in the second quarter when Richmond failed to use the wind advantage and Narrm scored three unanswered goals.

  • CASEY: Frankston

The late-season run of Casey wins was broken in their first semifinal against Frankston in a heartbreaking end at Kinetic Stadium on Saturday night that in many respects reflected their entire season. When they were bad, they committed all of the football transgressions, including poor disposal, indiscipline, an inability to exert pressure, and some terrible decision-making, as exemplified by the period in the game when they conceded nine unanswered goals from early in the second quarter until halfway through the third term. You rarely win when you do this.
