2018 Membership

Had noticed that the club had released the membership details on social media so I thought that i would make sure all of the detailsĀ were still right, and got a bit of a surprise.

We begin 2018 as a club that has not participated in a bloody final in 12 years let alone a grand final, so I was very disappointed to see that the cost for a grand final guaranteeĀ has leapt from 80 to 229 dollars! I admit that as an interstate member I have a cheaper membership than most that would join here, but I can only manage to get to about 4 games a year. I have had the GFG attached to my membership since around 2011 - Bailey was still coach. I guess I am just frustrated that they were only too happy to take the money while the club was an absolute shambles, but get a bit of confidence into the supporters and then increase the cost by 65%.

I would not be so frustrated, but I still don't know which MelbourneĀ is going to show up on the park week in week out, and then the club says pay more than my membership for the off chance that we will make the GF.

Sorry about the rant, just feel a bit exploited. Would have been better off just getting an AFL membership, can go to games for any club for the same cost and still have a shot GF tickets by nominating Melbourne as my club.

My invoices FYI

No one with any betting sense would choose GF guaranteeĀ

. Terrible odds.

If you go Redlegs do it quickly.Ā  I have had mine for nearly 20 years mainly to get the GFG (an eternal optimist:huh:).Ā  In July I wanted to add my niece and there were not many left Redleg memberships left.

It seems a bit unfair of the club to increase the GFG by so much - they haven't increased the Redlegs membership by very much at all.

To every Tigers supporter that ticked GF guarentee last year, - respect

Ā

Nature of the beast. More members, more supporters, rising costs = pricier membership

I wouldn't be paying for it, a f'ing disgrace to hike it up like that.

Tell the club to jam it.

Try buying one good tkt to a top band ...show etc...pretty good value I would have thought!!!

Too true, did it just then and there were very few left. Had a chat with a friend and as I am currently back at Uni full time I can get a concession membership which lessens the blow considerably.

Ended up being cheaper than this year but about 70 more than last year. But I can live with it!

does the gfg price include the ticket price?

Nope. Just a guarantee to buy one. No GF, money gone.

Clearly you are more filthy rich than me Luci. I can only afford a Trident but it does have a GF guarantee.

I will be interested to see my renewal invoice.

HaHa!Ā  A Trident membership is dearer than a Redlegs!

And I'm sure the Romsey Manor is far more palatial than my Bayside digs:cool:

Not to worry... we will be playing GWS in the GF next year and we'll be the only ones there !!

It seems that the GF this year is a hot ticket.

A relative had no probs getting a ticket last year ($500) at the last moment but I see on Gumtree people are offering $1K plus

This could start to explain the GWS membership figures that some were mentioning last week

I heard just last week that even the 3 game GWS membership had a guaranteed GF ticket, people were apparently buying them in the hope that their team would play GWS.Ā

Up to $569 for 2018 I'm afraid.

  • REPORT: Port Adelaide

Of course, it’s not the backline, you might argue and you would probably be right. It’s the boot studder (do they still have them?), the midfield, the recruiting staff, the forward line, the kicking coach, the Board, the interchange bench, the supporters, the folk at Casey, the head coach and the club psychologistĀ  It’s all of them and all of us for having expectations that were sufficiently high to have believed three weeks ago that a restoration of the Melbourne team to a position where we might still be in contention for a finals berth when the time for the midseason bye arrived. Now let’s look at what happened over the period of time since Melbourne overwhelmedĀ the Sydney Swans at the MCG in late May when it kicked 8.2 to 5.3 in the final quarter (and that was after scoring 3.8 to two straight goals in the second term).Ā

  • CASEY: Essendon

Casey’s unbeaten run was extended for at least another fortnight after the Demons overran a persistent Essendon line up by 29 points at ETU Stadium in Port Melbourne last night. After conceding the first goal of the evening, Casey went on a scoring spree from about ten minutes in, with five unanswered majors with its fleet of midsized runners headed by the much improved Paddy Cross who kicked two in quick succession and livewire Ricky Mentha who also kicked an early goal. Leading the charge was recruit of the year, Riley Bonner while Bailey Laurie continued his impressive vein of form. With Tom Campbell missing from the lineup, Will Verrall stepped up to the plate demonstrating his improvement under the veteran ruckman’s tutelage. The Demons were looking comfortable for much of the second quarter and held a 25-point lead until the Bombers struck back with two goals in the shadows of half time. On the other side of the main break their revival continued with first three goals of the half. Harry Sharp, who had been quiet scrambled in the Demons’ first score of the third term to bring the margin back to a single point at the 17 minute mark and the game became an arm-wrestle for the remainder of the quarter and into the final moments of the last.
