Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Hardly hindsight bias as that invokes the notion of selective review. It in the main is the opposite, looking at an overview of goid and bad results where thered seem to be much to suggest not's all as rosey as might be portrayed.

Saty, when will you learn that the players aren't going to criticise people within their organisation to outsider nobodies?

If Misson was the problem i doubt very much we would have beaten Adelaide and Meth Coke on enemy territory. You don't lose fitness and then regain it on a weekly basis

The problems stem from inconsistency which i think is a mind over matter situation...

We're finishing matches well this year.

We finished fast in our losses against Nth, Fremantle and Hawthorn.  The problem was that the damage was already done earlier in the game... can't see how that Misson's fault.

It's preperation in the rooms before the games, that has been deplorable.

Fitness is not just switched on and off.

But the mind is, very much so

It's more the recovery aspect of some player's fitness that I was highlighting on their return from injury SW.  I would hope the club as a whole and the players themselves have the ability, and appear to have, to get them to a group level of fitness that sees us locking horns with even top rated clubs, at least till the injuries start (where they occur to top liners) and begin to have an impact on our overall performance.  Luck obviously playing a factor to a degree vs other clubs like Richmond & Adelaide etc.

Many of our top liners came back seemingly under done IMO.  Most other clubs seem to be able to get their players up and running close to their best on their return fairly consistently.  To me this appeared, on the surface, to be a significant issue for us this year vs other clubs.

Some players might not be finishing as fast as others 39....hence we still lose when the opportunity is there to win more often.

We certainly didn't finish well against Collingwood and Brisbane, two teams we were strong favourites to win soundly.  Yes we beat Brisbane, but also nearly lost that with a very ordinary ending.

I questioned the same thing. But who makes the call? A player maybe borderline ready. Is it Goodwin's Call or Misson's?

i wouldn't imagine Misson would be allowing players back early as it's bad for his name

interesting...

I agree - but, again you could mount a good case for that being a mental thing.

I think our mental fragility and inexperience outweighs our physical fitness.

Agree 100% - but I would have thought this is a match committee call.  I would assume that Misson says to them that a player is ready to return, then the match committee decides if that through the VFL or AFL.  You're right though - we've rushed back some stars who have seemed to be well short of a gallop (Watts, Gawn, Hogan + Brayshaw last year)

I've worked in the fitness industry for a long period of time and been involved at AFL clubs and I can tell you the only complaint I've ever heard about Dave mission is he can be very conservative in bringing players back when they want to play sooner.

Our fitness issues are 100% a result of having the second youngest list in the AFL in terms of time on an AFL List even our experienced guys haven't always done 4-5 pre seasons

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,
