Which season? We're on three and I'd say the first two we're much better ?

Second season & we're all about heads in hat boxes......& yes I've heard the 3'rd ain't easy getting into.

Might be drawing a long bow, but I reckon it's a pretty safe bet that Watts has been dropped given he just posted a live video on Instagram from inside a nightclub.

No he didn't. He posted video from a band playing a concert in a pub like venue. He's not partying or anything, just watching a band play.

This is the reason he gets slammed by everyone for his commitment or lack there of. Misinformation.

If Jack is dropped then we've obviously given up and don't want to play finals. We haven't kicked a decent score in nearly 2 months, and we'd be dropping our second highest scorer of the past two years.

....& like an episode of Fargo, I have the heebeegeebees aaalllllllllllllready.

What was Stringer to the bulldogs? I would assume their highest goal scorer of the previous 2 years.

He has been putrid and if he plays this week he owes everyone a giant game.

I'm curious how you were able to decipher that there was a band playing because I couldn't hear or see a band, just people drinking and talking.

I also dont know of many pubs that have disco balls attached to the ceilings...but maybe that's just the pubs I go to..

Personally doesn't worry me what players do in their spare time provided they're at their best on game day, but think it was a pretty unnecessary thing to do from Jack. Like you said, it opens him up to getting "slammed", right or wrong.

Seems to me that it means we DO want to play finals.

Watts has been useless, and has gone back to giving no effort like the old days.  A total passenger the last three weeks.

At least Weideman will crash packs and fly for everything even if hes doing nothing else, and Hannan is already a better than Watts anyway.

Strange omissions.

Bottom line with Weideman, he needs to contribute, he certainly didn't earlier in the year.

Because his phone was literally focused on a band on a stage for 5+ minutes just now with 2 blokes sitting with beers off to the right hand side.

Hope Jack is playing this weekend. If he's dropped then I give us little chance of winning. With Frost dropped, Tmac heads down back which means it's Jack and Weid up forward. If Jack is out then our finals hopes are dependent on Weid as our sole tall forward. Poor selection and coaching that's the case.

Ah fair enough, I must have only caught the tail end then and not seen that footage.

thanks for clearing that up.

You are assuming Watts is having a la la about his omission by going to a nightclub tonight.

There is a training session at 9.45am tomorrow and I would be shocked if our players would go to clubs with shiny disco balls and flashy lights on the eve of a main session.

As stated I was possibly drawing a long bow...but the fact is, he is at a club or pub with "shiny disco balls and flashy lights" as you put it.

As Lord Travis said he believes he's not drinking, I was just pointing out what I saw with my own two eyes, unlike you.

I recon a couple of the changes are good because along with Maynard, Weideman, Brayshaw and Stretch, the Maggots will be totally confused to the extent that they will have to pay free kicks to players who don't laugh at them, we will probably go ok.......

I'm not on instagram and have not seen the video and I do take your word for it which is also backed up by Lord Travis, but,  do you believe the reason he is out posting videos is due to his omission?

I made that statement before Lord Travis said he saw footage that shows Jack wasn't drinking.

The part I saw looked like he was in a nightclub surrounded by friends who were all drinking. Seeing this at 10pm on a Thursday night (before a main training session)...well you know...

Personally, I want him to play. It's been a long and slow week on here but at least we can all agree on one thing and that is we need this one on Sunday.

Gus and Trac starring in a big win in this 'elimination final' will have Saints fans officially slitting their wrists over taking McCartin at pick 1 ahead of them.

Might not be in form but except for maybe an in form Weid for Pederson and Gus for somebody that team last week was definitely our best 22.

Another strange set of selections and let's face it most of Goodwin's left field selections have failed.

Not sure what to say frankly..............

Which left field selections have failed?

Just on Watts, He has had a bulging disc in his back the last few weeks, which has severely hampered him (as it would anyone).

Hence why he isn't covering the ground as well and therefore playing like shizen.

If Watts is out then Weideman is in.  Our forward line starts looking very inexperienced/B grade with the exception of Garlett.

Our two silkiest players, Salem and Watts would be out and I don't see many clean users on the extended bench.

Anyone looking at those omissions and our makeshift forward line would think we were tanking rather than playing to make finals!

I just can't let this one go...

Watts had 1g, 10d, 3m and 2t last week.

Pedersen had 1g, 8d, 3m, and 2t

Weideman had 1g, 9d, 3m, and 3t IN THE VFL.

Watts has played some big roles in AFL, this year. Just a few months ago. While Weideman has shown signs, but never consistent and often awol.

How can anyone justify Watts being dropped, for effectively a final. He must be carrying and injury, because it just makes no bloody sense to me.

He must have tripped over in the bar watching the band!

Watts should've had double those stats.

We're still at $1.60. How we're firm favorites is beyond me...

  • PREVIEW: Gold Coast

The Gold Coast Suns find themselves outside of the top eight for the first time since Round 1 with pressure is mounting on the entire organisation. Their coach Damien Hardwick expressed his frustration at his team’s condition last week by making a middle-finger gesture on television that earned him a fine for his troubles. He showed his desperation by claiming that Fox should pick up the tab.  There’s little doubt the Suns have shown improvement in 2025, and their position on the ladder is influenced to some extent by having played fewer games than their rivals for a playoff role at the end of the season, courtesy of the disruption caused by Cyclone Alfred in March.  However, they are following the same trajectory that hindered the club in past years whenever they appeared to be nearing their potential. As a consequence, that Hardwick gesture should be considered as more than a mere behavioral lapse. It’s a distress signal that does not bode well for the Queenslanders. While the Suns are eager to remain in contention with the top eight, Melbourne faces its own crisis, which is similarly deep-seated but in a much different way. After recovering from a disappointing start to the season and nearing a return to respectability among its peer clubs, the Demons have experienced a decline in status, driven by the fact that while their form has been reasonable (see their performance against the ladder leader in the Kings Birthday match), their conversion in front of goal is poor enough to rank last in the competition. Furthermore, their opponents find them exceptionally easy to score against. As a result, they have effectively eliminated themselves from the finals race and are again positioned to finish in the bottom half of the ladder.

  • REPORT: Port Adelaide

Of course, it’s not the backline, you might argue and you would probably be right. It’s the boot studder (do they still have them?), the midfield, the recruiting staff, the forward line, the kicking coach, the Board, the interchange bench, the supporters, the folk at Casey, the head coach and the club psychologist  It’s all of them and all of us for having expectations that were sufficiently high to have believed three weeks ago that a restoration of the Melbourne team to a position where we might still be in contention for a finals berth when the time for the midseason bye arrived. Now let’s look at what happened over the period of time since Melbourne overwhelmed the Sydney Swans at the MCG in late May when it kicked 8.2 to 5.3 in the final quarter (and that was after scoring 3.8 to two straight goals in the second term).

  • CASEY: Essendon

Casey’s unbeaten run was extended for at least another fortnight after the Demons overran a persistent Essendon line up by 29 points at ETU Stadium in Port Melbourne last night. After conceding the first goal of the evening, Casey went on a scoring spree from about ten minutes in, with five unanswered majors with its fleet of midsized runners headed by the much improved Paddy Cross who kicked two in quick succession and livewire Ricky Mentha who also kicked an early goal. Leading the charge was recruit of the year, Riley Bonner while Bailey Laurie continued his impressive vein of form. With Tom Campbell missing from the lineup, Will Verrall stepped up to the plate demonstrating his improvement under the veteran ruckman’s tutelage. The Demons were looking comfortable for much of the second quarter and held a 25-point lead until the Bombers struck back with two goals in the shadows of half time. On the other side of the main break their revival continued with first three goals of the half. Harry Sharp, who had been quiet scrambled in the Demons’ first score of the third term to bring the margin back to a single point at the 17 minute mark and the game became an arm-wrestle for the remainder of the quarter and into the final moments of the last.
