Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

In- Jones, Vince, Maynard

Out- Hogan, Trengove, Hannan

Have to start rewarding players for cosistent football (Maynard). I dont know why Hannan only had 3 touches. Injured or just couldnt get it. Maybe needs to be rested. He has had a big season!

Jordan Lewis frustrating too watch. I think Bernie does it better down back.

Coaching and game plan needs to get better. Players need to play to there position and strengths. We need a forward line that play in the forward 50.

ANB was worse than JKH IMO. He could go out.

So many acronyms.

ANB wont go out, he's been very good for 6-7 weeks and had one bad one, he'll stay and he deserves to stay

Despite the veiled threats, Bernie will be straight back into defence next week. Lewis will be released back into the midfield.

Hogan out means either Pedo or Weids come back in.

Something just doesn't feel right in the middle since Gawn's return. The opposition are sharking the taps and seem to then have open exits. I don't have stats or vision but I suspect it is how we are setting up - with an expectation of a ruck advantage. Not blocking or hustling or reading the hand as well as we were when we expected to lose the tap.

And perhaps Gawn is trying to do too much to stamp some ascendancy when he's struggling to otherwise have an impact. He can't seem to bring himself to just drop it at the feet. He ran into form in the first half last week and it worked - otherwise, our whole structure seems to have been effected (i50 entry-points etc.) In the process, we've lost the impetus of Pedo from the middle and then from the team entirely.

I suggested when Spencer came back from injury and Gawn was still out that we may overlook Jake as it's perhaps better to know you're going to either win or lose the taps than have to play to a 50/50. But I think Gawn's return and lack of impact has allowed the opposition to set up with the expectation they'll lose the tap.

Or that something could simply be a bloke named Nathan Jones.

I'm sure it won't happen, but I'd like to see Pedo go back to first ruck, and have Gawn start at full-forward and ruck the forward-50 with his trick-bag. Let our mids know it's up to them to extract the ball. Would also love to see Maynard given a crack but this is a game for our A-team and Jones and Vince (with a stopping role) are significant upgrades on JKH and Trenners.

In: Jones, Pedo, Vince.

Out: JKH, Hogan, Trengove.

Anyone think Brayshaw might be a sneaky chance vs GWS?

Hes had two solid weeks back at Casey, finding plenty of the footy.  I cant see the point of playing him for another game down there.

We need our best team on the park, theres no room for error in this finals chase.

Will already have two mids back in Jones and Bernie (for Trengove and someone else). We need Weids or Pedo to replace Hogan. Highly doubt we'll make another midfield change to fit Brayshaw in; he needs a solid month in the VFL before being considered, given the amount of time he's been out.

I'm amazed at the Harmes hate. Completed hard all day, just wasn't his best game. He outperformed Nibbler, Jkh, Trenners and Hannan just to name a few.

Out: Hogan, Trenners, Hannan

In: Pedo, Vince, Jones

May be nothing, but flying home at 930 last night and Hunt was on the flight. Looked to have quite the swollen right cheek/jaw area. Not a lot of bruising but certainly looked odd.

Who knows, could  have been chewing  gum but the way he flew alone sunday night made me wonder if he spent Saturday night in hospital  with a cheekbone injury.

Ben Brown was also on the flight sitting with the common folk. Dresses like a bum! Good player though.

May explain his fading in the second half.

I don't like that Hogan is injured but I prefer Pedersen at full forward because Hogan plays as more of a crumbing forward these days.

Out: Hogan, Trengove, JKH (unlucky)

In: Pedersen, Jones, Vince

FB: Jetta Frost Hibberd

HB: Hunt O.McDonald Salem

C: Vince Oliver Lewis

HF: Petracca T. McDonald Melksham

FF: Garlett Pedersen Hannan

Foll: Gawn Viney Jones

Int: Tyson ANB Harmes Watts

It is a tough week at selection. Watts probably deserves to be dropped based on his last two efforts. Hannan was injured early and had a shocker against North and deserves to be dropped. Trengove’s lack of pace makes him a liability.

At the moment, I would probably like to see Jones and Vince for Hogan (injured) and Trengove (omitted). I cannot find a spot for Maynard given the return of two midfielders.

Watts is on thin ice, two very weak efforts since his return.

So based on your reasoning Hogan would have been dropped after the Darwin game. I think Jack has lots more credits in the bank ahead of what Hogan has. When is the last time or ever that Hogan has  one us a game ??

I think Weideman and Pedersen should come in for Hogan and Watts, Vince and Jones come in for Hannan and Trengove. Tmac also may need to help out down back on the weekend so even if Watts stays in an extra tall might be required.

The Canberra forecast is for a windy day and potential rain. I would prefer we go with extra mobility.

Also, while his game on the weekend was very poor, I think Hannan deserves another chance to redeem himself.

I agree that Watts is on thin ice but to take two key forwards out is a big ask. I would like to see TMac and Weed being the primary targets with Jack playing further upfield/third option.  I would keep Hannan over JKH as he offers much more upside and is more reliable despite last weeks effort.

Explain.

He's allowed 2 poor games I think after a month out of the game. Even Gawn is struggling and I don't think Hogan had kicked a goal from a mark with his return before being injured.

His form before being injured was as good as his 2016 form.

Needs to improve and impact more contests this week though or he could most definitely be on the outer.

I'd almost go as far to say that his form is intrinsically linked to our finals chances. If he fires, Melbourne will fire and win 3 of our 4 remaining games.

Has Weed demanded the call up? Playing ok by reports but is he hungry yet? if not Pedo back. if Weed has gone all hungry at the contest - personally no idea, more a wuestion for the Casey watchers?, then he might be ready.

Maynard in, Jones and Bernie back

Hoges out take your pickfrom Trenners - despite my man love for the bloke, JKH, Hannan and Harmes.

Reckon Hannan might due for a week off - first season at big league freshen up for sept..

Clearly Hogan comes out, and there are several more in the firing line. Sad to say, Trengove may have played his last game. I think Hannan has more upside than Neal-Bullen & Kennedy-Harris, but he has to come out if there any doubts over his fitness. Melksham stays for now, but he'd better not spend next week going for the ball one handed all game again.

Jones clearly comes in. I would have preferred Vince to come back via Casey, but clearly he has to play now. Pedersen is surely next in line for a role up forward, regardless of Weideman's effort yesterday. Brayshaw perhaps needs another week or two, but it's good to know he is going well. Stretch should be a fixture in this side, but can't put it together. That leaves Maynard if we need another change, but I think he might be more suited to St Kilda.

In: Jones, Vince, Pedersen

Out: Hogan (inj), Trengove, Neal-Bullen/Hannan

Re-watch Watt's efforts (key word) from the last two weeks.

I think Pedo week to week gives us more that Watts-on-a-bad-day gives us. He's just not a contested ball player.  Not everyone can be Viney, but against Norf, we could have used Pedo, I reckon.

I don't know if Watts comes out, but Pedo comes in

    TRAINING: Friday 19th April 2024

They are out for a run just as it starts raining. It didn't last long, ended up a reasonable session weather wise.  Light duties, BBB, rehab Farris-White, Melky, Salem and Spargo, all with private trainers. They are all playing soccer, huge amount of noise. 36-40 (difficult to get a count) in the main squad, biggest I've seen it in ages. Choco is barking out the orders. Goody has intense body language as he observes. Bowey in a lime green cap (no contact), and in the sim

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
