Nope. He went for a mark, missed it, stopped and shook his head while Garlett was fighting for it 5 meters away and then Carlton ran it away 3-4 seconds later, if he turns and helps Garlett like his opponent helped his teammates then it may not have got out, or if not then under pressure.

It wasn't a fatigue thing, it was a mindset and he does it often.

He needs to stay in he moment. He doesn't.

Must demand excellence.

I think that's exactly his problem. He demands too much from himself and gets frustrated when he makes a mistake.

You see it when he looks at his hands after dropping a mark. But I think you have a point in that it can impact his concentration which may stop a follow up or at least get frustrated. Jesse is very much a confidence player and need to get involved early. He is better played at CHF imo as he gets a few touches early and wont get down on himself. Besides he makes a great marking target from the backline and while not the worst isnt the most accurate in front of goal.

Anyway we have found our new full forward in Tmac.

Totally agree - it was an amateur players effort. I don't care how long or why you've been out of the game, but get back into the contest and help a team mate out.

I would love the high performance managers to put a heart rate monitor on some of our players and see how often they hit the red zone (90+% max heart rate).

Melksham - Body Language Poor

Melksham - Almost cost us

Lewis - Almost cost us

Lewis - Smart at end

Hogan - One Effort Player (so good I plagiarised it)

Tom McDonald - Elite Goal Kick

Hogan - was understandably quiet

Petracca - played in bursts

Lewis - important but slow

Gawn - had limited influence

Oliver - great first half

Hibberd - continued to inspire

Stretch - little to enthuse

Kent - was mostly unsighted

Frost - outstanding all game

Melksham - regularly poor disposal

Hannan - had little involvement

Pedersen - didn't offer much

Vince - experience often showed

T.McDonald - only winning forward

O.McDonald - safe and effective

Hunt - loose, rebounded well

Neal-Bullen - some vital touches

Garlett - had limited influence

Jetta - one memorable interception

Wagner - played his part

Harmes - was rarely sighted

Smith - nervous and limited

Tyson - overrated and unsighted

Lucky we didn't lose by 15 goals if you read this rubbish - 7 1/2 players were ok please

Not everything he tried came off, but Kent was all over the place last night and very much "sighted"...

Agree with this. Didn't kick a goal and didn't have as many possessions as some of his other games but it was the best four quarter effort I can recall him playing. I've been a critic, but yesterday he was pretty good. Even tried to kick on his right foot. (It was pretty miserable, so I can see why he doesn't want to do it.)

Garlett limited influence? Harmes rarely sighted? Nev one memorable interception?

This post is garbage, 1 minute of my life I'll never get back.

Hogan gets a let off for obvious reasons but he was already cracking the sads when he didn't get free kicks or the ball in his lap yesterday. This needs to stop.

There is no rule that states you have to read it Md.

I am happy to have the thread simply don't read it if you are so offended.

Then don't read it and if it only took 1 minute I suggest you did not read much.

I read it all champion - don't let the fact I read above the level of a 16 year old get under your skin

The analysis is average at best, and given this is a public forum, people have the right to criticise posts like this (especially when the post itself is so widely critical of the team).

Jog on mate, I'm sure Joe's a big boy and can handle himself without you.

I always feel that this thread is where the "big boys" come to play in the sense that it is favoured by many astute followers of the game.

When I go to the game ... other than the mistakes and the forward marks I am lucky to notice three or four other players to the extent that I can comment on them.

Well done Joe Boy and keep em coming

PS I think almost everyone got a "well done" from Joe Boy against the Dogs or was that West Coast .. so he is human after all

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
