If Adelaide lose and GWS win then they will be second. I believe we need GWS to win because then Adelaide will have to play for first as they will most likely play the tigers. If they finish 2nd then they will play Geelong.

in all seriousness. Adelaide are a game clear..and much percentage as well. They , the crows could withstand losing to the Weaglles with the leagues highest score  and record margin and STILL  most likely stay above GWS

Golly...youre right.. I sit/stand corrected... lol

Giants might struggle though this weekend... @ Geelong...  Blicavs and Tomahawk back in... and the Cats own Umpires !!

but as you say..only the 2 points .. hmmm

Risky given if they win the first final they would have played one game in a month.

Or...if we lose AND Essendon lose, you'll be sweating on the WCE v Crows game. (is that right?)

Definitely, but my attitude all week is if Essendon can't beat Freo at Etihad on Sunday, we hardly deserve to play finals. Especially after dropping the Brisbane game earlier in the year as well.

Yes, it will be disappointing to miss, but no one to blame but ourselves if we don't get there.

If we miss, I'll be comfortable in the knowledge that we aren't good enough yet.

Melbourne winning or losing doesn't effect us making the finals, just final ladder positions [finishing 7th or 8th provided we win].

I really do expect Melbourne to win. Collingwood will have a dip early, but will fade.

I'm hoping Fremantle are the same.

Greenwood also out for the Crows...

...didn't they say mid year that we were the hardest team they played against...

Dees and Ess are the big losers of a Crows loss to WCE and it is very unlikely Ess will lose.

... can't bare to think of us not winning tomorrow.

No way in hell Essendon miss finals.

Something would be seriously wrong if you blokes can't win by at least 10 goals. Freo are worse than hopeless.

Rather than reliant on WC losing (which Adelaide are not helping) .How nice for genuine internal belief - for the lads to have to win the match on their own terms to make the finals, rather than the roulette of what WCE do.

It is simple really. We have to beat the filth. I don't think I could put up with the trauma of waiting till the crows wet coke game if we lose.

Agree

Our form over the last 6 weeks has been average at best. We need a good win against the Pies and then who knows what might follow

If we lose then I think it's more likely we miss finals than make them. That's not my wrist slashing Melbourne supporter talking: that's the reality of the variables at play because I think West Coast will beat Adelaide, regardless of the Melb v Pies result. We might not appreciate it here but the Subiaco factor is huge for West Coast. It's their home and they will most definitely go out on a high. Their last game there would be akin to us playing the last game at the MCG ever. The attachment that club has to Subi is no different to what we have to the G. They will beat Adelaide by 6-7 goals.

Very reasonable sentiments that apply equally to us.

Melbourne lost to North Melbourne twice and we still deserve to play finals.

100%

But if we win, we still need to keep an eye on the Sydney & Port games. Both will win, but if Sydney don't win by significantly more (30+) than Port then we are on the bus up to NSW.

Unless of course St Kilda do us a solid and bump the tigers to 6th!

So much for the supposed value of the bye week before the finals.

The bye was also brought in (primarily?) to accommodate the prime-time Thursday night game in the first week of the finals.  Either that or it was just a coincidence.

And the club would be assuming that the Eagles will win and the Crows resting their starters would have been foreseen in advance.

It's a simple equation in my eyes - we have to defeat Collingwood (a draw will suffice as well)

I still can't see meth coast winning by five goals. Crows have way to much quality to let it happen

It wont need to be five, if we lose by a couple.

You really naive enough to think the AFL benefits from an extra prime time final and it's just coincidence?

Ha!

The spin we cop from the AFL never ceases to amaze ... the Crows would be crazy to risk their best players in a meaningless game.  They've got a double chance to boot and and home ground advantage all the way through to the GF.

The way the sport is played these days means that any time off has got to help.

Gun players = plug in and play.  We've gone way past the point where teams might be 'flirting with form'.  The Crows are in the box seat.

We, on the other hand, are on the knife edge from here on in ... that's ok too.  Sort of.

I agree, because you will beat Collingwood tomorrow and qualify.

IF, and it's a big IF Essendon lose to Fremantle on Sunday, I honestly feel we aren't good enough to play finals, simple as that.

Hey @Ungarieboy only three out of the selected Crows side so far!   But there's no way they're flirting with form against WCE right?

  • REPORT: Hawthorn

The final score in Saturday's game against Hawthorn was almost identical to that from their last contest three months ago. Melbourne suffered comprehensive defeats in both games, but the similarities ended there. When they met in Round 9, the Demons were resurgent, seeking to redeem themselves after a lacklustre start to the season. They approached the game with vigour and dynamism, and were highly competitive for the first three quarters, during which they were at least on par with the Hawks. In the final term, they lapsed into error and were ultimately overrun, but the final result did not accurately reflect their effort and commitment throughout the match.

  • CASEY: Box Hill

The Casey Demons ended the regular season on a positive note and gained substantial momentum leading into the finals when they knocked the Box Hill Hawks off the top of the VFL ladder in their final round clash at Casey Fields. More importantly, they moved out of a wild card position in the finals race and secured a week's rest as they leapfrogged up the ladder into fifth place with their decisive 23-point victory over the team that had been the dominant force in the competition for most of the season.
